Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3: FIFTH MISS

"Clash."

The sound of things being thrown all over and breaking sounded throughout the noise.

As if that wasn't enough, there were hopeless cries, and screams and those that were hearing them couldn't help but get emotional. Wondering what kind of agony, the person screaming was going through.

Listening to all that with a frosty expression was a middle-aged man who sat silently with his hands placed on top of the desk.

In front of him sat two younger men, and their expressions couldn't be said to be good.

One of the younger men wearing a well-tailored black suit raised his head to look at the older man sitting in front of him and felt his heart aching.

How could he not know or understand what was going through in the other's mind?

However, even if he knew, it's not like there was anything that he could do in such a situation.

"Father, do you want us to stop?" the man in the suit asked cautiously as he looked at the older man.

The older man sighed dejectedly as exhaustion spread across his face.

"No, let's continue. There is nothing that I can do to help her at the moment. I have to wait until she is fully calm," the man responded.

The young man didn't know how to comfort his father. After all, being worried about his stepmother would really be something out of his comfort zone.

And since he didn't want to stop, then they might as well just continue.

The other man, wearing a navy suit with a black shirt that had two of his top buttons undone, lazily played with his prayer beads as he listened to the father and son speaking.

As he listened to them, he couldn't help but wonder if the rumors he had heard before were all true.

However, he wasn't one to mix business and pleasure and as long as he wanted, he could also easily extract all the information that he wanted.

So, when the pair changed the topic and resumed the business talk from earlier, he joined as that was the reason why he was there.

After an hour or so, the woman crying suddenly went silent, and he knew that she must be tired from letting all her grievances out.

The man in the navy blue suit watched moments later as the father of the man that he knew suddenly excused himself and he instantly knew that the man was going to comfort his wife.

Was that what it was like? Being hen-pecked?

He had heard rumors again about how the richest man in Kuville city, Cade Hansley, a very romantic man and yet thorough when it comes to business, had been whipped by his current wife to the extent of being faithful.

With his third wife, Cade birthed one child, a beautiful daughter, and the so-called princess that everyone in Dynalis now no longer knew anything about. The rumors said that Cade and all the elders in the family had spoiled the little girl, also known as the fifth princess.

And yet it's been nearly fifteen years ever since she was seen in public. There has been no news about her. The outsiders didn't know whether she was dead or alive.

Everything about her was a mystery and, honestly, he was more curious about her than the business he was discussing with Bradley and his father.

So as soon as Cade left the study, he turned to look at Bradley, the man who was fourteen years his senior and yet still knew how to respect him and look at him without showing any airs.

If he hadn't taken a liking to Bradley when he arrived in Dynalis two weeks ago, he wouldn't have bothered himself with coming in person to discuss business when he would have sent other people for the job.

Besides, Bradley's home had a secret and one that he was eager to know. Even if Bradley lied, the truth would still be known. It was pointless lying to him.

"Mr Bradley, is your stepmother, okay?" he asked expressionlessly as he looked at the other.

When Bradley heard the other asking that, for a second, he was taken aback, wondering why this Buddha was suddenly interested in his family affairs. However, for the sake of being polite, he decided to tell the truth.

Besides, unlike those people in Dynalis and especially Kuville city, this man didn't seem like the kind that would go around spreading his family affair to others. He was too noble to do that.

"Mr. Amir, I don't think so. It seems Dad will have to expend a lot of effort to make her cool down!" Bradley helplessly responded as he thought of his stepmother, Lena.

Seeing that Bradley was willing to talk, though he wasn't certain whether the other would lie to him or not, he inquired further. "Does she get triggered easily and always like that?"

"Not really. If there is one thing that can make her react this badly, it's her daughter," Bradley spilt the truth without hesitation.

The man smiled inwardly upon hearing that. 'It seems I have made the right bet!'

"Oh! By her daughter, do you mean the last-born child? The one everyone is curious about. That fifth miss of your family?" without beating around the bush, the man asked Bradley.

Bradley didn't find anything wrong with the question. After all, a lot of people were really curious about his fifth sister. But how could they all dare to reveal the real truth when knowing fully that might be used against them in the future?

People were truly heartless and would do anything to get what they wanted.

"Um. That's her. Let me find a photo of her. It should be somewhere pretty close!" Bradley said, as he stood on his feet.

The man watched as Bradley looked around Cade's desk and, shortly after opening one of the drawers, he fished out a photo album.

"I am lucky. I found it!" Bradley heaved a sigh of relief upon finding what he was looking for.

To show his sincerity to the other, Bradley decided to tell him about his family's greatest secret. It wasn't like he was truly selling his sister. No one in their right mind would want to buy anything related to her.

He took the album and began to look through it. A shallow smile appeared on his face as he looked at the little chubby girl with auburn hair and blue eyes. The color combination was unique and yet made her look like a fairy from ancient times.

The more he looked at the photos as the girl grew up, the more he felt as if something was trying to burst out in his mind. He couldn't help but have a feeling that somehow, he might have seen her somewhere, but where?

Amir wasn't so sure anymore.
