Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 20: A TRAGEDY

Eva turned around to leave the Pack as soon as she was done taking the hangover soup. "It's not safe outside, members of this pack can only see the sun in a group," Eric advised.

Unlike other packs, their pack was always hunted every single day. "I won't go far." She explained but Eric was not willing to let her off so easily.

"That's if I go with you." He said picking up his shoes and Eva having no choice agreed.

"What about work?" She asked.

"It's a weekend Eva." He responded calmly. "I just happen to be a natural early riser." He said leading the way outside. Eva smiled at the beautiful breathtaking forest.

If only her wolf could walk or run like other wolves then she would be more than happy. The scene reminded her of the scene she'd witnessed in October thirteenth.

She had sneaked out of the pack with Alex's help and joined the team of hunters. The scene reoccurred in her mind as if it was happening right before her.

Her pack members ran around the forest in their wolf form. It was such a nice scene to witness and she very much loved it to the fullest.

"Follow me," Eric ordered running into the forest in his wolf form. How did that bastard expect her to catch up with him? There's no way she would risk shifting into her wolf form here.

Who knows, she might as well be the only crippled wolf in the entire werewolf's existence. She took in a deep breath before she ran into the forest.

She ran faster every minute that passed, her body became so sweaty and her legs so tired but she wouldn't stop. She had to train her human body for perseverance.

If wolves shifted to attack wolves, she would protect herself in her human form. No need to shift, she told herself still running.

She looked at the well-aligned trees and knew this was her opportunity to train herself faster and harder. Eva lifted a stick, heavy but slightly sharp on both sides.

With her right leg, she jumped and stepped on one of the trees and descended to the ground kicking the stick she had hooked on the ground.

She repeated the process again and again alternating with running around the the forest. After mastering that technique, Eva created an imaginary wolf-jumping high aiming for her neck.

With bloodshot eyes, she jumped and stepped on the stem of a tree, and to another tree, her eyes focused on the imaginary beast which was closer and closer. She jumped her hair falling freely onto her body.

With one kick, she aimed at the wolf's neck sending it dead on the ground. Her hair followed suit landing on her back, it was so long and looked disheveled from the current activity she was doing.

She smiled devilishly and raised her head to look at the sky. She noticed the sun would soon rise. Since she was not an Alpha, she wouldn't risk staying out too long. The sun might as well drain her.

Her look towards the sky was filled with something else. (Killing intent) "Let's see how you protect your loved ones from me, pretty moon goddess." The back of her lips curved into a sweet defiant smile.

She would destroy them, all of them. Alex for taking advantage of her, Tricia for framing her, and anyone who was a part of that plot would answer directly to her.

Eric didn't notice the sweet smile on his lips, her fluffy, with volume, airy long hair was blown by the strong wind revealing her beautiful facial features.

Eric swallowed hard, as much as he enjoyed watching every move she made, he felt a certain form of chill in his body. The entire forest suddenly felt so cold, the coldness in her eyes as she aimed at who knows whom at the moment, sent chills down his spine.

He didn't realize that at that moment his body was slightly shaking afraid that he might have been the girl's target.

Just who the heck was that girl? He thought sighing in relief when she landed on the ground aiming at the exact spot her bloody red eyes had focused on.

'Is she an Alpha or something?' Eric couldn't stop himself from smiling. That explains why she was so confident in walking to the pack alone.

Eva on the other hand, focused her eyes on a certain direction. If she wasn't wrong, she could smell something rotten dead meat. The smell was so foul and her senses were alert at the moment.

"Is that you Eric?" She asked and Eric feeling like he'd been exposed walked towards her from behind.

"Yes, that is me, Eva." He mumbled, a hint of fear evident in his tone.

Eva turned and concentrated on blowing Eric's scent into her nose and just as she thought earlier, someone else was in the forest.

"Someone else is here, a rouge." She said and Eric's eyes widened. How did she know that? He could only detect two different scents which were his and that of Eva.

"Are you sure you can't smell anything else?" She asked and Eric nodded. "Well, forget it." She said looking at Eric, once again, Eva felt like she was the worst werewolf ever in existence. Her wolf was crippled in everything. She cursed.

"Where did you find those clothes, Eric? I thought you shifted earlier." She mumbled.

"Oh, this? There are plenty of clothes all around the pack just in case anyone unintentionally shifts." He explained.

"Let us get out of here, I think you were right. Someone else is here." He explained. "We call him the Ferrari even though no one knows where he comes from and who he is. He kills whoever he sees fit." He said grabbing her hands his body shaking uncontrollably.

Eva tightened her grip on his hand as he ran as fast as she could. Her legs were already tired from the exercise earlier plus all the running she had done.

The harder she tried, the weaker she became. "Save yourself, I think I am a liability to you at this point." She said.
