Chapter 12 - Lights, Camera, Everwyn

The sun was setting on another day as Alexander sat in his room, surrounded by stacks of papers filled with scribbled notes and ideas. The city's ambient sounds filtered in through the window, a gentle backdrop to his thoughts. The "Chronicles of Everwyn," his beloved book series, had taken on a life of its own, and now, an unexpected opportunity had presented itself.

He stared at the email on his computer screen, his heart pounding with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. The subject line read, "Adaptation Inquiry: 'Chronicles of Everwyn' Movie." It was a message from a prominent production company expressing their interest in turning his fantasy series into a cinematic experience.

He leaned back in his chair, his mind racing as he considered the possibilities. This was a dream come true, a chance to see his characters and world come to life on the big screen. But with this excitement came a flurry of concerns. He had poured his heart and soul into the books, and the thought of their essence being diluted or misrepresented was a daunting prospect.

As he pondered, his door was opened and Alice entered. "Hey, Alex!"

A smile crept across his face when he saw his friend enter. "What's up?"

"Nothin much I was bored so I came to see what you were up to."

"Well, nothing really come check this out."

Alexander's fingers tapped on the keyboard, and he shared the email with her. As she read the contents, her eyes widened with excitement. "Wow, this is amazing, Alex! They want to turn your book into a movie?"

"Yeah," he replied, his voice tinged with a mix of emotions. "But I'm not sure how to feel about it. On one hand, it's incredible that they're interested, but on the other, I'm worried about how they'll handle it."

Alice nodded in understanding. "I get what you mean. It's your baby, after all. But you know, this could be a great opportunity to introduce your world to a wider audience. And who better to make sure it's done right than the person who knows it best?"

Alexander leaned back, his gaze fixed on Alice's face. "You're right maybe I could become a consultant."

As they continued to talk, Alexander felt a renewed sense of determination. With Alice's encouragement, he decided to respond to the production company's inquiry. He expressed his interest in the adaptation and his desire to be actively involved in the movie's creative process, ensuring that the heart of "Chronicles of Everwyn" would remain intact.

Days turned into weeks, and after a series of discussions and negotiations, an agreement was reached. Alexander would serve as a consultant on the film, working closely with the screenwriters, directors, and producers to ensure the adaptation captured the essence of his world.

During one of his brainstorming sessions, Alexander voiced an idea that had been brewing in his mind. "You know, Alice, I've been thinking about who would be perfect to play the main character, Alice. And honestly, I can't think of anyone better than you. The character is somewhat based on you after all"

Alice blinked in surprise. "Me? You want me to play the lead role?"

Alexander nodded, his expression earnest. "Think about it, Alice. You've got the talent and the passion, and you already understand Alice on a level that no one else does. It would be incredible to see you bring her to life."

Alice's eyes shimmered with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. "I've always loved acting, and this would be a dream come true. But do you really think I can do justice to Alice?"

Alexander smiled warmly. "I have no doubt. And you won't be alone. I want to be a part of this too, you know. I could play one of her two best friends."

In fact, when writing the story of The Chronicles of Everwyn he slightly based the character of Soren Stormwind off himself in his previous life. In the book, Soren is someone who struggles to meet the high expectations set by his family. The way Soren evolves throughout the story while carrying the weight of living up to his legacy quickly makes Soren one of Alexander's favorite characters.

Coming out of his thoughts Alexander continued, "Of course, this is all based on the fact that they like our acting. I don't want people thinking we got the role based off of nepotism"

Alice's face lit up with a radiant grin. "That sounds like so much fun! We've been partners in crime forever, and now we could be partners on the screen too."

"What about you Sakura wanna try out for a role?"

"Thanks but no thanks acting's not my thing and I really don't wanna be famous. Just don't forget about me when you make it big."

"Of course how could I forget about my cute rival."

"Who are you calling cute!" Sakura said launching a pillow into Alex's face. Giving him an angry look but if one looked closely you could see a slight blush at the tips of her ears.

As their enthusiasm bubbled over, they delved into discussions about potential casting choices for the other characters, the visual style of the film, and even ideas for new scenes that would enhance the cinematic experience while staying true to the source material.

The production process was a whirlwind of meetings, script revisions, and creative collaborations. Alexander found himself immersed in a world that bridged the realms of literature and film, each decision made with careful consideration to honor the heart and soul of "Chronicles of Everwyn."

A month passed, and as the film's production gained momentum, they found themselves at a casting interview. It took a lot of convincing from their parents but they finally conceded. they knew how much their kids enjoyed acting and also how much the books meant to them.

Alice turned to him with a gleam in her eye. "Can you believe this, Alex? We're actually here! Hopefully, we get the part."

Alexander chuckled, seeing her excitement. "Yeah, it's surreal. Just remember, be yourself, and let your passion for the character shine through." After a while of waiting Alexander was finally called.

"Good luck, Alex!" Alice called out with a supportive grin as he walked into the room where the casting directors were waiting.

Taking a deep breath, Alexander entered the room. The casting directors greeted him warmly, and the small amount of nervousness disappeared. Even though he was the writer of the book no one knew it. His pen name for his book series was A. E. Verdant. He had done most of the discussions threw email and when he had to be there in person he used a proxy. He didnt want to be given the role simply because he was the writer at the end of the day he wanted this adaptation to be a success so even if he was not picked as the actor he wouldn't complain.
