Chapter 26 - The Two Guardians

The space immediately widedend morphing into a grand arena with the three at the center.

The Gaurdians, despite their enormous size, were swift, they moved at blinding speeds, quickly closing the gap between them and David.

Upon proximity, they thrusted their lances which despite their evident weight, briskly found their way towards David. David stood in the same position unshaken, the lances were so close, it appeared impossible to avoid collision, but before the tips of the lance could reach their target, they were Intercepted, the fast moving weapons immediately grinded to a stop, seemingly restricted by an invisible barrier.

"It "REIGIS", then why wasn't he authorised"

Warden who was observing the turn of events exclaimed, his gemlike eyes glinting slightly. He had recognised the invisible barrier that intercepted the lances, it was "Reigis", Reigis was an innate trait all nobles of the quintessential race were born with, it was thought to be a talent, but later was proved to be a reflex that occurred when the body's subconscious detects a force capable of harm. The body will with great haste conjure a thin layer of compacted astral force with just enough resistance to defend against the force.

The lances were instantly brought to a halt, but the force behind them continued to be applied, the barrier broke away almost instantaneously and the lances crushed into David's position, creating a cloud of dust.

When the dust cleared David who seemed to be nonchalant and unattentive was no long in the position, in the split second when Reigis reacted, David left his previous location, his speed was equivalent or even faster than the guardians, he meticulously outmaneuvered them at every turn of the battle, he couldn't access his force sword and as time went by he felt his neural force gradually shrinking and waining, all he could rely on was his astral force and blunt force and to deal damage to the two guardians, but he felt his astral force depleting everytime he utilized it, this was the first time he fought after aquiring astral energy, his consumption was far from efficient.

The guardians seem to be devoid of emotion, but as the minutes passed, the attacks became more frantic and violent, countless roaring sounds resound in the arena, evident of the ferocity of the guardians' strikes which as time went on were more demanding to avoid.

Although David felt no fatigue, he could sense that it was getting harder to avoid them, this could only mean, the longer he fought them the more ferocious they got, if he doesn't find a way to actively attack he would be at a disadvantage, sooner or later.

David's ascension to the 6th lvl caused his body to change, he shed his bulky muscles and beastly scars for a pristine pale skin and optimized muscle to fat ratio, acquiring the perfect asthethic and athletic body. As a result, his movements were agile and precise, nimble and swift, weaving around the two fast yet increasingly clumsy giants.

Thanks to this, he was able the get behind one of the guardians and delivered a strong blow the back of it's knee, forcing it to kneel as result of the sudden bend. This whole time David had been meticulously scrutinising the giants to find their weakness, trying all the ideas he could think of, and this was by far the most successful.

The sudden fall caused the gaurdian to lose balance, but it quickly used it's lance to stabilise itself, surprisingly the moment it was bent over, the second guardian quickly put himself in between the first and David, as if trying to cover the first, it stood in a defensive stance.

Since the commence of battle the gaurdians had always been on the attack, this was the first time they took a passive stance.

David smirked, then smiled, grinned and began to laugh histerically, his eyes glowed and the space around them seem to darken.

"I see, I see"

He said, as his calm and disinterested poker face reappeared, he seemed to have figured out the weakness of the guardians,

he recalled the time he was deployed on a stealth mission to the Phobos battlefield, he witnessed a lighting attribute sentinel conjure a lighting sword out of pure electric energy using his force sword as a conduit.

David did not have a force sword so opted to use his hand, his forearm to be precise. His arm began to glow white, followed by sparks of electricity, then a powerful surge of energy, crackling and exploding out violently, his forearm muscles tetanized greatly increasing it's toughness, though his arm was stiff and unresponsive, he now had a hard piercing object.

Having composed themselves, the giants went on the attack once more, but this time David wasn't going to stay passive, he suddenly took off into the air, his speed was so great only a streak of light could be seen.

The guardians seemed to be taken by surprise and unable to react with the same speed as before, since the start of the battle David had always been jumping, leaping and rolling to avoid their attacks, even escaping by the skin of his teeth multiple times, no one would have thought he could fly.

Noticing their apparently confusion, David deduced that the two guardians had some intelligence, or at least they could collect and utilise information, but that was their own undoing, their momentary hesitation allowed David to move two more steps ahead of them, before they could react, David appeared behind one of the giants and stab his forearm at what appeared to be the its energy source, and what they were guarding.

Just as David thought, soon after he stabbed it, his electric energy invaded the giant's circuit disrupting it and cutting off energy to the guardian, the guardian's golden eyes went dull along with it's tattoos, but as it was falling, David who was stiil on it's back sensed danger, Reigis reacted, a breaking sound could be heard, and as David was turning to look, the mighty golden alloy tipped lance came for his head.

He quickly put up his tetanized forearm, which collided with the lance's tip, the tip despite it's durability was chipped, nonetheless David was violently thrown back, impacting with the walls of the arena, he didn't bleed, but he wasn't unharmed. His tattoos along with his eyes, also started to glow, as David glared at the guardian, who savagely rushed him, threatening to crush him to mash.
