Chapter 366
Akeris, a dragon, lived a contented life in her home, complete with a hole and a lake. She spent her days eating, sleeping, and enjoying her time.
During idle moments, she would playfully throw large stones onto the frost giants' heads. And when she was feeling more adventurous, she would venture into the human country, the orc Empire, and even encounter passing Elves, whom she considered tasty snacks to satisfy her cravings.
However, there were busy days as well, when she would be pursued for hundreds of kilometers by Behemoths and Dragon Slaying Teams. But, all in all, Akeris, a dragon without inhibitions, remained quite happy. No one had discovered her nest yet, even though some people knew she frequented the ice lake.
But all good things must come to an end.
Until one day, she came to her large pond to fish and noticed a human attempting to steal her freshly frozen food. Akeris was furious, and even the two foolish bears who had stolen the fish seemed smarter in comparison.
She couldn't understand why the human didn't recognize the two frozen bears as their own food and was instead trying to steal her ice, formed from her dragon breath.
As she contemplated, she thought about the severity of the human's actions. She believed that the Dragon gods would be angry, and the dragon would be hunted down. Akeris contemplated rushing up to swallow the man.
However, she decided to observe first. What if this seemingly harmless individual turned out to be a dragon slayer?
To her surprise, the human appeared to be leaving, only to return later with a pile of dry wood and a torch, intending to melt the giant bear ice.
Akeris was expressionless but perplexed. Ordinary flames couldn't destroy the ice formed by her breath. Maybe the giant bear ice wouldn't melt at all. However, she couldn't fathom why the human would choose to cook their food on the ice. Did they underestimate dragons?
She decided that she had had enough. The time for observation was over. She thought to herself, "No matter, bears can endure, but dragons cannot. Bite him!"
Akeris remained submerged in the icy depths, her presence concealed. Her thick scales blended in with the ice, making her nearly invisible to anyone who didn't actively search for her.
Gradually, she positioned herself under the ice where the human, William, was standing. In the next moment, she burst through the ice, her silver frost scales glistening, her enormous jaws filled with sharp teeth aiming to seize William, the giant bear, and the so-called fire.
But William was quick to react. He leaped into the air, avoiding the dragon's bite. He hadn't used soul exploration to maintain his disguise and nearly became a dragon's snack.
In the same instant, a green-lighted arrow was released, accompanied by a thunderous sound, striking the dragon's head. The scales shattered, and blood spurted as the frost dragon's head slammed into the ice.
The dragon was hurt, but it was furious. It burst out of the water, thrashing its head wildly. Olaf and Legolas, clutching the chain of heavy arrows, didn't get a chance to shoot a second time. Luckily, a massive ancient tree nearby caught the chain, preventing them from being flung onto the ice.
"That's fierce! Shot in the head with an arrow and inflicted over 80000 damage?" William marveled at the frost dragon's strength. Nevertheless, he didn't hesitate. In mid-air, he drew his cursed sword and struck down with a thunderous cut, creating a blade of several hundred meters in length. Lightning arcs and bolts continuously struck the area around it.
The blade descended upon the frost dragon, striking its head just as it attempted to fly away. The impact was violent, causing the frost dragon to crash into the ice, creating a web of cracks.
"No escape!" William declared as he prepared for a second strike.
But a surge of icy breath rushed towards him. He activated his Nine Blades technique and summoned his defensive shield. However, even with these defenses, the extreme cold of Longxi hurt him, dealing over 9000 Points of damage and causing a frostbite debuff that lasted a full minute.
The frost dragon was equally shocked. Its attacks seemed ineffective against this Elf who appeared to be immune to the cold.
In the same moment, Annie, Burned Cinder, and Old Leather rushed forward. They hesitated to use their most powerful abilities, but the three of them unleashed their devastating moves almost simultaneously.
Annie's Moonlight Sword descended like a full moon crashing to the ground, tearing a bloody wound on the dragon's body. Burned Cinder leaped up, his dragon-cutting knife resembling molten magma as he attacked the dragon's back.
Simultaneously, the ice dragon's wings produced a swirling tornado of ice and frost, attempting to block Burned Cinder's assault. However, Old Leather navigated through the icy whirlwind with ease
, reaching the frost dragon and driving his sword into its chest.
The frost dragon roared in agony, releasing a shockwave that sent everyone flying. It was furious, and it regretted letting these intruders come this far. It couldn't even release the heavy arrows chained to its head, greatly hindering its maneuvers.
However, despite its anger, it couldn't prevent the onslaught. Burned Cinder, Old Leather, and Annie continued their relentless attacks. Burned Cinder, in particular, recited something under his breath and delivered a powerful blow to the dragon's neck, producing a lava-like arc of light that extended across the ice field.
With a deafening crash, the frost dragon's head slammed into the breaking ice, and it was defeated.
But as everyone watched in amazement, they realized that Burned Cinder had delivered the final blow, and he now stood proudly on a floating ice floe.
William couldn't help but glance at Burned Cinder with an odd look in his eyes. He was considering having a discreet conversation with Burned Cinder on a dark and stormy night, and then disposing of him, ensuring that no one ever found his body beneath the ice.
The others remained oblivious to William's thoughts. However, they couldn't deny Burned Cinder's impressive feat.
"He's really something," someone muttered, acknowledging Burned Cinder's impressive display of power.
Indeed, Burned Cinder had seized the limelight, earning himself the title of experience thief and dragon slayer.
