Gobbanogron Mountains, royal hall

In front of a man on a large granite throne, a dwarf knelt down in respect.

This dwarf, had a second skin of blood all over him, the bag pipes that he held were littered with holes.

--

King Gerna: You came back from the expedition without my son! Are you a coward, to leave your liege in dire need of aid?

Dwarf: I am sorry my king, the prince refused to leave the others. M-G Donal sent me ahead hoping my piping would get me here to send a message.

King Gerna: A message? Well spit it out!

Dwarf: the Message is that the survivors will head to the north and bypass the mountains using the human territories. He asks that you send people up to protect them and the Mithril they have.

King Gerna: Very well, I will send the Mithril Guard to escort them home.

Dwarf Lord: Is it so wise to send the best warriors away, when war is on the horizon? You have another son; he can become the heir.

King Gerna: Get those treasonous thought out of your head or I will take it. Ulst is my Heir and son, I will not abandon him in his moment of need.

--

The next day the Mithril guard left the mountain

For a month they travelled.

After one month, they finally encountered the surviving 18 from the mining expedition.

--

M-G Donal: General Goat, they sent the Mithril guard?

General Goat: Of course, the prince is with you. Now please report on what occurred during the attack and after. Your man said you escaped with 80, I do not see them here.

--

1 explanation later, including the thoughts of Prince Ulst to steal the territory after Angus Conquers it.

--

General Goat: a talking goblin that knows runes? How can that be.

M-G Donal: That is not all, he is also good at building a wooden fort, its something that a human legion to the south would do.

General Goat: You were right that we need to keep that goblin as an ally. But the thinking is not for us. I will report this to the King. Now go have some mead and we will head on back tomorrow.

Location: Split Valley with Angus

For the last 3 weeks, Angus set up a mine with rudimentary tools, along with a Foundry heated by Runes to make it smokeless.

Angus was never trained in Metallurgy or mining he just had a rough idea.

This made the processing of the Iron ore they found very bad.

But since there was nothing better to use, Angus gave 3 goblins the task of experimenting and getting better Iron.

The Next task was the smithing

This he planned to do himself, and leave the other daily tasks to the others.

The first thing made were proper shovels and buckets.

Even though a pile of shit was prettier they were functional.

Next came the adzes, axes, pickaxes, hammers, spear heads, arrow heads, and nails.

--

One of the gods sends was a goblin that came with Guts was a Leather worker who knew how to make leather armour and simple smooth sole sandals.

Once thing found by Angus was these goblins were all from Midgard and not from Earth. But they said that they saw many Earth goblins, and Orcs.

This made Him very happy, and made Angus think about one day saving the other Earthlings.

--

Time the Unrest Age, month 4 (1 month time skip)

Location Smithy of Angus

One could find Angus hammering at a rune inscribed iron sheet. This was being formed into a Tube, which Angus planned to use for a musket.

For the last little while Angus has been experimenting and learning how to make the Musket that the Dwarves used.

--

Originally, he tried using a regular stone from the river to act as the Magic absorbing battery, but the moment it was given magic, it exploded.

Next, he tried using Iron. It Held magic, it absorbed a lot, but once a large amount of magic was sitting there more than 3 minutes, it melted.

This could work but the iron only eld enough magic for a shot at 3 minutes.

After searching the valley for something suitable, he found some copper.

The copper could transfer the magic, and hold it but could not absorb it.

Next, he used a piece of clear crystal he found maybe quartz.

The crystal absorbed the magic to tremendous amount enough for 10 shots of a musket, unfortunately it did not transfer this magic, and after the magic sat for a minute once full it dissipated.

All of these problems stumped him.

Taking a shot in the dark he encased a crystal in copper.

This was a success.

The absorption dropped to 8 musket rounds, but it transferred magic well, and could recharge1 round per minute.

--

In the present time this was the very first musket that would be created.

To be safe Angus inscribed runes of decay, so if someone tampered with the batteries, no information on its making would be found.

The musket was 6ft long, allowing for more accurate and further shots.

Yes, it was long, but this was just the prototype, future muskets will have interchangeable batteries and a shorter barrel.

--

The first target that was chosen was the mountain base 200 meters away.

He lined up his sights, and pulled the trigger.

BANG…. Crack

At that moment Angus felt pain and saw stars.

The musket broke his shoulder.

Once his vision cleared, he hobbled to the mountain where he shot.

Approaching the crater made astounded him.

It was 1 meter in radius and went about 10 meters into the mountain.

With his jaw hanging open, he made way for the fort to get a splint, a cast, anything to ease the pain.

--

Mag was a female goblin; she was also the sister of Guts. Mag Was the healer of Angus' crew. When she worked for the Orcs, she spent many days in the healing bay doing whatever was asked. It was this way she picked up many useful tricks. For example, setting a broken shoulder and making a kind of cast.

Angus was super happy, that he would not become a cripple.

--

As Angus was resting, his Body blest by Lugh slowly began repairs and augmenting his bones to prevent further breaks.

During this time angus was also making plans to lower the out put of the Musket so scrawny wee turds like the others could shoot one.

--

Another thing that happened is with plenty of nutritious food and lots of physical excursion the Goblins went from skinny buggers only able to lift 20 pounds to slightly filled out and can lift 60 pounds.

Angus knew that this was not much, but one must start somewhere.

Elsewhere

Location: Murky forest inhabited by Great Ogres

(AN: picture the ogres from Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken. Also, Ogre clans are split by Greater and Lesser, explanations will come later.)

--

Murky forest was North east of the Split Mountains.

This was the land of the Ogres, but currently there was a great battle Between the Great Ogres and the Orcs of the Flame pits.

It has been many years since these two peoples were allies under their gods, but as the millenniums passed the Ogres became isolated merchant, and civilised people. Abandoning their past of blood and Darkness.

Now the Orcs of the Flame Pit having received orders from their God Lucifer, made their way through ogre towns in massive numbers plundering and raping as they went.

The Orcs goal was to get enough Resource for a Drawn-out war.

The Ogres not expecting this attack were unprepared.

Though, Ogres are strong, physically and magically so they were able to recover quickly and drive them away.

But not all villages were successful, many raised to the ground, making many flee to the large towns for Protection.

This safety lasted for a time, before a horde of Goblins, Orcs, Trolls, and Fire Giants over ran their defenses.

Very few escaped less than 1 thousand of the original 2 million Ogres that resided in the Murky Forest.

In fear and planning for revenge they made way to the south were the Ogres of the Stoney shores lived.

Elsewhere

Location: Gobbanogron Mountains of the Mountain Dwarves

--

Having returned to the Mountain, Prince Ulst and M-G Donal gave their report to the king.

To say King Gerna was pleased about the 2 tons of Mithril gathered was both a lie and a truth.

Yes, Gerna was pleased about the mithril but 282 of his people were killed.

Telling the two to leave and rest, the only ones remaining were King Gerna and General Goat.

--

King Gerna: tell me Goat, what are your thoughts on this goblin that they encountered?

General Goat: I believe it is wise to build a friend ship with someone that wants to raise their people into a kingdom. Especially if they are goblins. If he can do that, I think he would be more dangerous than any Orc.

General Goat: Your son mentioned to M-G Donal that he planned to steal the Mountains from the Goblin when he won. I do not think that should be done. We lost those Mountains and mines 2 ages ago. Yes, it is rare to find Mithril here, if we treat the goblin well, we can become trading partners, and maybe get a monopoly on the Mithril that they trade.

King Gerna: Very well I will take you suggestion to mind

King Gerna: I would like you to assign M-G Donal and a small troop of dwarf volunteer craftsmen and soldiers the duty to transport 5 magic crates of our finest Granite bricks. Please notify them that their duty is also to aid in the strengthening of this goblin, allow them to give training.

General Goat: Alright I will do that, and I will send them around the Split Mountains through Human territory so they do not attract the Orcs.
