Chapter 104 - Visitor

Grant found his place in his new office, his eyes shaking like he saw a ghost. He slowly placed his hand over them, and began to cry. A different cry from when he just met James again. Now it's a sad and lonely cry. Seeing James brought back bad memories, and worse it brought back good memories of times that will never return. Grant placed his head on his desk afraid someone might see him, and he weeped. The sorrow that ate at his heart, it hurt him to think his whole life was behind him. A sense of survivor's guilt rushed over Grant. This was all just too much for him.

A nock on the door woke him from his stopper. The elderly man whipped his eyes in embarrassment. Grant opened the door with a nonchalant frown on his face. To his surprise no one was there. He was about to shut it when someone taped him on the back of his shoulder. Grant jumped, and slowly turned around.

Sitting on the desk in a relaxed pose an older looking woman with a scarred face smiled at him.

"Wisp?"

She jumped up into a hug. They embraced each other in silence. When both of them let go Grant stumbled into his chair.

"I heard." She said.

"That…" Grant had to stop himself from stuttering. "Was a long time ago."

"I see." She paused. "I missed you."

"I…" Grant stopped and reached into his back pocket, showing Wisp a beautiful diamond ring.

"You kept it?" Now she was the one who was about to cry.

"I wasn't going to throw out your mothers ring."

Wisp lifted her hand, showing the ring Grant bought her all those years ago. This stunned him a bit.

"Where were you all this time?" Grant asked.

"You know, here and there, mostly with James. You know I thought you were dead, I would pray every night in hopes you would have a good afterlife."

Grant didn't know what to say to that. In truth Grant rarely thought about Wisp, and when he did it was mostly in a drunken haze.

"I found myself a disciple." He changed the subject.

"You? A disciple." She laughed. "This coming from the man who was known as the Nights Ghost. You know now that we are talking about it. Night's Ghost is such a dumb name, I can't believe I thought it was cool."

"Wow, that was uncalled for. Any ways have you seen James yet, I'm sure even he would see this as a shock."

She held a finger to her mouth.

"Watch."

Before Grants vary eyes Wisp vanished into thin air. A technique he has seen before when Jewy would disappear. It did feel different however, after all Wisp's was a learned art whereas Jewy's was inherited. She repapered right in front of Grant.

"Guess my rank?" She said.

"I don't know, General?"

She frowned.

"You have such little faith." Wisp pulled out her identification card. " Im lord, and if you look under it."

Grant looked and it said Shadow Lord.

Wisp began to smile in peer glee.
