The Shu Mountain Sect has always been known for the "Three Evils of Shu Mountain", namely the three things most desired to be rid of in the sect... those being Mahjong, hotpot, and Empress Feng.
The love for Mahjong is widespread in the Southwest Land, and the Shu Mountain Sect is no exception.
Once, the Shu Mountain Sect was famed throughout the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands for their love for Mahjong, and during the sect's peak period, there were even discussions about whether playing Mahjong could have benefits for cultivation. The idea was quite absurd.
Only after the Shu Mountain Sect began to decline did they start to strictly ban such entertainment activities that might hinder cultivation. Nonetheless, the ban was imposed time and again with no effect.
However, as of today, playing Mahjong remains one of the most popular pastimes within the Shu Mountain Sect; it just has to be kept within reasonable limits.
