-Bloodhaven: Alpine mountains-
The Captain issued an order, following his queue a group of mechanized armor troops move forward their steel reinforced suits powered by crystalized mana stones, gives them durability. The close combatants move unsheathing their sword, they swiftly charge at us.
Hubert summons a wind blast putting them at a distance, however the long raged troops follow up with a hail of magical bullets.
"Bullets keep getting fired, I can't outlast the onslaught!." Said Hubert as he powers up his wind shield
"Leave this to me." Said Tyrell as he throws concoctions to the ground and commands a magic circle "Acidic rain!." From the magic circle flew droplets of acid melting through the armors and guns of the troops
"Haaah!." With Lightning speed Sara takes the bewildered soldiers by surprise cutting through them like butter "ZEPHYR NOW!." she says as she backs away before getting swarmed.
"My turn!." I say as I leap on and throw a fire infused spear right in the middle of their formation.
The explosion from my attack made the troops panic, the frenzied soldiers back away as I approach them. Only the captain remained steadfast
"Men!, do not fear these criminals. Trust in our magitek and teach those knife ears what happens to those who disrepect the mighty Bloodhaven!." He glows an ethereal blue that spreads and engulfs the soldiers it seemed to be a buff spell most likely.
The tanks fired as soon as the captain gave the command, I leap back to avoid a hit and turn my focus onto the magik tanks.
"They won't back away that easily." I sigh exasperated
"Master Agatha, are you fighting alongside us?." Said Hubert
"Me?, fight? A frail old woman like myself has no reason to. I'll leave that to you young ones."
"She thinks its a bother more like." Tyrell retorted
"Master Agatha must have a reason h-haha." Kayla said awkwardly
"We need a strategy, we are fighting mechanized magiteks this is no ordinary guard patrol." Said Sara
Brainstorming a few ideas has always been my specialty. Taking our strengths into consideration Sara and I should take the front, Hubert works on defensive spells and Tyrell should provide support.
"Alright then Sara, you and me should be the vanguard. Hubert I need you to erect a shield and Tyrell I want you to provide support." Each nod to my proposed plan before I turn to Kayla "Kayla, we need everyone in this. What magic would you say is a specialty of yours?." I ask her
"I'm decent at enchanting." She says unsure
"Ms. Kayla, decent would do you injustice she's a great enchantress." Tyrell says
"Great, you can cast debuff?." I ask her
"Not to a great extent, but I know the basics of those spells." She replies
"Here, it requires alot of mana. This elixir increases your pool." I hand her a mana elixir , Tyrell looks suspicious and asks "where did you get this rare potion?." Oh this is where I knew I messed up
"I got it off a market in R'aul haha." I deflect by answering "now back to you Kayla you will be supporting Sara's assault."
"What about you Mr. Zephyr?." Asks Kayla
"I got my own back up." I tap into Salamanders power engulfing myself in flames as I transform into my pair of wings and armor.
Leaping through the air I lunge at my enemies with Sara right at my heal. I approach a tank and tear it open with thrust of my trusty spear.
"One down five more to go." I say to Sara who's engaging with the mechanized soldiers
"I can handle myself just fine thanks to Kayla's enchantments. Zephyr focus on the tanks." She replies fighting toe to toe with a plethora of troops.
"Shoot!." Orders the captain as sporadic shots hit in every direction Sara and I have no trouble dodging these bullets
"Earth shield!." Hubert erects an airshield backed by Tyrells minor spell of replenish holding the line
"This should give us enough time, Ms. Kayla how are you fearing?." Tyrell asks her
"I'm fine Dr. Tyrell, I have to support Sara. I can't let her down." She gives Tyrell a reassuring expression.
Sara breaks into the heart of the conflict dispatching the soldiers , the retinue of those who are mechanized find themselves shocked to see an unarmored matching them and with their armaments speed impaired by an outside force.
"What's going on here?!." The Captain furious at his soldiers hold one of his scouts by the collar
"It looks like they got an enchanter among them , those knife ears and that hero besides that woman tearing through our line is none other than Sara the dual blade mistress." Said the scout composed
The Captain takes the Scott's mana reading binoculars and begins to search for the source of the trouble.
"You mean the one exerting that pitiful mana signature ?."
"YES Sir, I have a teammate sniper on standby your order is needed to shoot."
"Do it, tanks aside we can't have our mechanized armors lose to such a thing!." He says in disgust
"Tango 1 , calling Tango 3, do you read me?."
"This is Tango 3, Tango 1 I read you."
"We have a go, I repeat we have a go. You are to neutralize that woman in the back."
"Roger that." Tango 3 replies before cutting off with a thud sound.
"Tango 3?, Tango 3 what happened!."Tango 3 shouts at his magik transceiver.
"Your friend here's taking a well deserved nap, and I suggest you don't disrupt it." A woman's voice appears instead of Tango.
"M-Master Agatha, you said you won't interfere!." The Captain snatched the transceiver from the scout panic in his expression
"Call this a loving parent protecting her child." She destroys the transceiver and fires a warning shot from seemingly out of nowhere grazing the captain's cheek
"Monster " he says as he wiped his blood
- meanwhile-
A tank drove past me as it shot its laser projectile, using Salamander's tough scales I brought up my arms to shield myself from the impact. The heat from the projectile completely absorbed through Salamanders skin.
"Is this the best they can do?." I say to no one in particular
I don't give that tank operative any leeway , with a precised and well timed thrust I pierce through the armors hide penetrating it from both ends and leap just before it explodes.
More reinforcements appeared as two tanks came bulldozing through the forest joined with the tanks in service they fire a high intensity lazer at me from all directions.
My body aches as I block the attacks with my arms crossed heat seeping into and absorbed by Salamanders scales. The excruciating pain made me scream and for a moment I forget to hold back as I cast Salamanders strongest spell
"INFERNO!." I yell out as my draconic instincts took over me magic circles appear on the ground prompting a volcanic eruption lava and fire
The tanks melt as fire tears through them, the soldiers eject away from the impact of the spell out of self preservation, and fear. I come to my senses when I see what my attack has wrought and wipe sweat off my face 'i shouldn't be reckless with this spell' I think before turning back to Sara.
Sara is locked in yet again with a group of mechanized soldiers , much to the soldiers dismay their number advantage means nothing as Sara took to animalize her form and with the boost she tan circles among them with speed they could never match and inhumane flexibility, she leans back as a sword cut through air. A shot is heard from a distance aiming for her now that she seemingly in a vulnerable position however she does a backflip and fires an electric charge incapacitating the artillery man.
The group of soldiers had finally had enough from being lead on and proceed to launch a final group assault disregarding their safety. The swordsman come in first backed by the ranged , Sara simply takes a stance and smirks as she engulfed herself in lightning before vanishing from sights , after images appear in her place in several locations simultaneously cutting through armor and weaponry alike. It wasn't long before she reappeared as she sheathed her blade numerous soldiers fall from the wake of her onslaught.
"That was amazing!." I fly over to Sara who now heaves in exhaustion , if I hadn't seen her injured I wouldn't have guessed it so from the amazing feat she performed.
"It was nothing." She says a tinge of red in her face
"Don't be humble Ms.Sara that was quite the performance." Tyrell chimed in
"I've seen you move in the tournament but I hadn't seen you perform that move before, it was impressive but well not as impressive as my Earth shield." Hubert says boasting
"It was a good shield Mr. Hubert, thank you for providing us safety." Kayla says adding fuel to Hubert's hubris.
"Don't downplay yourself Kayla, I've got you to thank for providing support." Sara gives Kayla a slight bow in gratitude
"Awww, how cute you kids are especially you Lizard. You've grown a pair of wings like that outta nowhere, did ya eat a dragon or something hahaha." Agatha appears behind us and following her tow is the captain.
"Whys he with you Master?." I ask her
"Oh him, poor boy was distraught from all the happenings and ofcourse i had to set this whelp straight while you children played along. I will let him explain." She turns to him a flicker of mana ruminating from her left eye scaring both me and the man behind her.
"I apologize for the misunderstanding!." The Captain bows his head desperation in his eyes to which i sympathetically reply with a "Don't worry about it , care to explain why you were alert."
"We were attacked by powerful Elven mages, they trounced two squads under my command before disappearing without a trace. " says the captain as he recounts "the woman mage especially made sure there was no survivors. Look at the footage we captured from my subordinates camera."
He opts for a projection via a portable screen something sci-fi like though common in Bloodhaven.
The screen shows a blood Elven woman a plethora of frozen troops , ignoring that sight I focus on the words coming out of her mouth as she sounded sorrowful at the prospect for murder.
'Sleep in eternal bliss for knowledge brings you naught but misery.' Was what she'd said as she froze the frightened soldier like a statue.
"Who do you think this is?." Said Sara
"I've never seen such pure mana before." Hubert adds
"The raw magical power on that one , its more than what an average elven body could handle save for the talented" Said Tyrell.
"Mr Zephyr you look tranced , is something the matter?." Ask a Kayla checking on me
"Huh , I'm fine its just that I think... nevermind I have something to do." If my hunch is right , then I know exactly who she is and I get the feeling that we'd meet in time "I'm going to Lithea's resting place." addressing the squad i give them no time to respond as I prepare to fly out.
"Wait Zephyr!." Tyrell yells out in protest however I'd long past his sights and my single purpose right now is to catch up to the two.
"No can do Doc, hope you can forgive me and take care of the squad for me I got an errand to run!."
A race against time as the clock ticks and tocks and if I were to stand against him(Belial) I'd better protect Lithea before the Ice Maiden gets to her.
I can feel her calling for me Ivana or rather Lithea one and the same in reality, that doesn't matter right now establishing the link takes precedence however miniscule that mana may turn out to be. I can't have her fall to Calamity not again never again.
