Gotham's parks were in surprisingly good condition compared to the rest of the city, no syringes lying around, no shady people making deals in the bushes, and all that was most likely because of one of the two people I wanted to meet here.
Poison Ivy was not easy to track down but I had all the time in the world to search all of Gotham's parks. The other person I wanted to meet was the bat, he had no doubt already found my location and was just thinking about a way to deal with me.
I wasn't disappointed as just as I was about to end my walk and call it a day, I saw a silhouette stand under a flickering street light, there was only one person in Gotham who liked to pull such appearances and actually succeed.
"Took you long enough, I was starting to think that I accidentally killed your sidekick and you were busy attending his funeral"
He gave no answer but stepped out from under the lantern and slowly walked to me. With how he had his whole body covered in his cape, it looked like he was floating to me.
He finally stopped, with his face just a few centimeters away from mine, a classy intimidation tactic that was used to assert dominance over other men. Most men would take a step back, I did not and instead looked deeply into his eyes.
After a moment of silence, he spoke.
"Why did you attack the hospital?" the suppressed anger was easily noticed in his voice.
"To prove a point" I swear I could hear him gnash his teeth at that.
"Why? What was the point you needed to prove that required you to bomb a children's hospital?"
"To prove to you that if anyone actually wanted to be pure evil and not play with you like the Joker, Catwoman, and the rest, there would be nothing you could do except watch"
"That's it? That's your point?" his anger visibly rising.
"Yep, and let's be honest, half of them would have died anyways, I just gave them a quicker and more painless death, I call that mercy" Hearing my Thanos speech, he snapped and attacked with a jab.
I already saw it coming and ducked under it, only to be greeted with the sight of a knee coming out of his cape. I didn't want to get hit so early in our fight, that would be embarrassing, so I decided against my plan of fighting him without moving from spot and jumped out of his reach.
Being the skilled fighter he was, he didn't even blink and instead reached into his legendary utility belt, pulled out a Batarang, and threw it at me, at non-vital points of course, before coming at me again before the Batarang even reached me. Instead of getting even more distance, I took another approach and dodged the bat-shaped projectile while running to him.
Unlike him who intended to confront me in close combat due to his confidence in his skill, I ducked underneath his fist, slipped behind him, and grabbed his cape.
"Edna said no capes!" I shouted as I spun him around for a while before he was able to reach for some mechanism on his costume that automatically detached the cape from him. While he rolled for a bit until he came to a stop, I swung his cape over me, covered my face with it, and mimicked his voice.
"I am Batman"
He didn't seem too amused and threw another Batarang at me, just this time when I prepared to dodge it, it exploded in a blinding light.
"Fuck, I'm blind, Batman crippled me, someone put that on the front page of tomorrow's newspaper" I was obviously just playing around, not at all bothered by the fact that I just lost one of the few senses I had in this human form or the fact that I could hear footsteps rushing at me.
My sight still hadn't recovered by the time he arrived and I still stood there even as his fist approached my chest. For the first time in a long, long time, I felt something I thought I would never feel again.
"Bwahaha, yes that's it, how long has it been since I last felt pain, how many millions of years did I not experience this feeling?" I don't know if it was because of my emotional high or if I became some sort of masochist after not feeling pain for millions of years, all I knew was that I liked this sensation.
Even Batman seemed a bit taken aback, either because of my masochism or the claim that I was millions of years old but he quickly got his shit back together and started pummeling me, no doubt to vent his anger a bit, while I laughed the whole time.
He stopped beating me by the time I was a bloody mess and miraculously only had two broken bones, probably because the bat knew enough about biology to vent his anger without doing too much damage, I decided it was time for me to fight back a bit.
My vision had already recovered, although now died red, so I could see him taking out handcuffs to restrain me.
"Bahaha, thank you, I haven't felt like this in a long time. I was planning on getting captured and eventually breaking out of prison again, just to commit crimes more horrible than even the Joker, just to see how long it would take you to break and kill me but now I will reward you for your efforts."
Under his astonished eyes, all my wounds recovered and the ring on my finger disappeared, turning into a long and shining red cape. A bit ironic that I equipped my cape shortly after I scolded him for his but whatever.
"Since I want to play with you for a bit, I can only use my cape, I'm afraid you would lose instantly if I summoned something more powerful like the six Star Orbs, not to mention the whole armor including its weapon. You will have to be satisfied with this."
He was surprised, obviously still not used to opponents with supernatural powers as this were still the early days of Gotham but he still got his shit back together and got ready for round two.
