Chapter 167 - DC 6

Batman was on edge after noticing my anomaly but no matter how many martial arts he mastered, nothing could prepare him for something as otherworldly as my cape.

This round, I was the first to attack.

The cape went through my body like it was just an illusion and extended itself at a speed Batman could barely react to, and that was me holding back a lot. He could only watch helplessly as a wave of red crashed into him and threw him into a nearby tree.

I waited for him to get up before going in for the next attack. The cape twisted around until it formed a large red fist. This time he jumped out of its way before it phased through the tree behind him and threw some more stuff at me, only for my cape to automatically protect me.

The moment his things made contact with the illusionary red fabric, they sank into it like it was not there but they never came out from the other side. In addition to being able to expand infinitely, change shape and material, and switch between material and illusionary, it also was an entire dimensional construct of its own.

Even if you ignored its insane defensive capabilities, all other attacks would just be swallowed up by it, it was basically a cooler inventory. I could just reach into my cape to retrieve stuff.

Despite holding back, a single piece of my armor that has been evolving for millions of years and absorbed many other powerful items proved itself way too much for the paranoid cave dweller.

Looking at the bloodied and panting cosplayer on the ground, I suddenly had the urge to monologue.

"You know, I just noticed, you are just a gloomy version of Lex Luthor. You say you don't kill due to many reasons, some more ridiculous than the other.

Sometimes you say it's so that you don't become like the criminals you kill but you don't rape and steal, other times you say no man should play god but even if a god decided to kill someone, you would intervene, and then there is the dumbest reason being that it's against the law. Last time I checked, vigilantism was also a crime, not to mention all the other things you did that would put you in prison. I'm tempted to file a lawsuit against you for trespassing and battery.

The truth however is that you have no problem with killing as long as what you are killing is not human or something similar. I bet you wouldn't think twice if you faced a hostile alien. In the end, you are just a different believer of human supremacy."

While I was holding my monologue, Batman was thinking if he should call for backup or retreat and think of another strategy to capture this villain. He didn't even listen to what he was saying, he learned not to listen too much to madmen. In the end, he decided calling for backup would just put them in danger as well, he needed to retreat for now and gather data on how to deal with that cape.

I kept rambling on and on before I finally noticed that the caveman had already left a while ago. Man, I knew I was high but I didn't think I was high enough to start monologuing and letting him escape. I didn't want to kill or capture him but I wanted to at least play with him a bit more.

Since my night of fun came to an early end, I could only sigh and reluctantly walk out of the park. At least that was what I thought.

The moment I left the park, a black armored car sped down the street, not an uncommon sight in this city, but when someone suddenly leaned out of the roof with a rocket launcher on the shoulder, I knew that they didn't come out for a night stroll.

"Say cheese, mother fucker!"

The moment the car drove by, the guy launched his rocket and by the time it reached me and exploded in my face, the car was already gone from its previous position, and fled the scene, not even thinking I could survive the explosion.

*BOOM*

I still had my cape on, so it automatically protected me and absorbed all the heat, flames, and shockwaves, leaving me unharmed except maybe a bit dusty.

I have no clue if this was normal here or if that henchman was acting on orders of the clown who wanted to avenge his boyfriend or some other underground lord who didn't like the fact that another criminal popped up and wanted to get rid of the competition early, all I knew was that I was going to have vengeance.

I didn't actually care about the revenge, I just wanted to pass the time and someone just gave me the perfect excuse.
