A few days later...
Liam sat with Null during their free time and watched him paint. It felt peaceful. When Null was done, he showed Liam a live painting of Hannah and June standing beside each other. Hannah was smiling, and June looked cold.
Liam has begun noticing a pattern in Null's paintings; whenever he paints something grim, it means he wants to do something and has no idea what to paint, but whenever he paints happy paintings, live paintings without bloodshed.
"Wow, this is so pretty," Liam praised him.
"It doesn't look good," Null said. "Dry this for me, please?" he said to Liam, who was more than happy to comply.
As he was drying, he noticed Null looking at him closely. "What?"
"Nothing," Null replied. "I'm just wondering what we would do after the war," he said. "If we both survive, that is."
Liam frowned a bit. "Did I say something wrong?" Null asked him.
