Chapter 4 - On the way back

Nuo Lan had been sleeping and waking since leaving Nanzhou. She found a village on the side of the road and went in to steal some clothes to change and treat her wound so that it wouldn't bleed, causing onlookers to become suspicious.

Upon reaching Yi Nang City, she quickly found a place to stay to prepare for treatment of her wounds first. But she didn't expect that just as she had stepped into the inn, she heard the sounds of many people discussing big news.

"Hey, have you heard that the daughter of the city's most beautiful minister is about to get married?"

"Hey, I just heard the news yesterday. I don't know any man who was lucky enough to have the fortune of receiving her love."

"You don't know anything. I heard rumors that that lucky person is Prince Qiao's loyal servant."

"Really? I just thought of it. Who would have the fortune to be worthy of her if it weren't for those people with those powers? Oh, I'm truly sorry, another beautiful woman whose beauty we were able to admire has disappeared."

"Haha, I think, wait until next year when there is a number one beauty contest, we will get to see a new person. Why don't you go and have some fun with me?"

"Okay, don't forget to invite me along."

Nuo Lan, who had heard the conversation, stood still like a puppet. She felt a ringing sound in her ears, until she heard Xiao Er walking over to inquire.

"Master, would you like to eat or rest?"

"I want to eat. Do you have a private room?"

"Yes, sir, please follow me."

Nuo Lan followed Xiao Er up to the top. She ordered a few dishes and sat down to wait. Nuo Lan thought about what he had heard again. She shouldn't have misunderstood. Prince Juan's unmarried Si Zi is the only one with him. But why didn't he tell her? If he didn't want to marry her, she had no right to criticize him. Because she was only his mansion's assassin.

Nuo Lan ate his food absentmindedly. Until she ate it all, she charged the money. At first, she thought of getting a better rest and then going back. But now she wanted to know if the news she heard was true or not. She didn't know how she would feel if it were true. She might go back to the way she was before meeting him. Or maybe she felt some pain. If he says it's not true Whether she could trust him again or not, she didn't know.

Nuo Lan left the inn and continued towards the capital. She rested the horse from time to time. Instead, during her rest, she would tend to her wounds. Nuo Lan still thought about that wedding news every time. So much so that her wounds began to become inflamed as she was about to enter the capital.
