"We'll have to walk to the next town," said Adara, checking the sums left in her pouch.
"Walk? What are you talking about? We have plenty of marks left..." Responded her companion, who had grown accustomed to the rich lifestyle that came with serving Hypnos.
Adara sighed, trying to explain how they still had to stretch the money out over the rest of they're journey, and they still had a continent to cross.
"I guess... But we can always get more money later! Why not just take a carriage just this once?" Rebuked Lucas.
The half-elf thought for a moment, before sighing in defeat, "Fine... We'll do a quest at the next town to get our funds back up," seeing Lucas's smile Adara turned away.
She also didn't want to walk, and was looking for an excuse to take a carriage, especially after the last journey...
Due to the uneasy state they had left Corcilus in, the duo had taken a long detour around the city.
They ended up regretting this decision as the territory they had moved through belonged to no-one, and as a result was in a constant state of turmoil.
With the stronger monsters killing each other in an attempt to prove dominance, and the weaker ones working in groups. No mans land was far more dangerous than Corcilus could of been.
Shuddering, Adara tossed the pouch of money towards Lucas, who caught it with his right hand, the left remained in his pocket, a special request he made when Ronan was designing his robes.
Perhaps it was an "Earth" thing, as Adara could not foresee what benefits it brought. if your hands are cold, just wear gloves, need storage, use a satchel. but alas, apparently it was a dealbreaker for the young man, whose keen blue eyes were now counting through the remaining cash in the purse.
"bring that to a merchant of some kind, see if they'll be willing to take us to the closest town," noticing Lucas's hesitation she continued, "I have to stay here because my legs are tired, Lucas, so take your time and let me rest,"
He seemed to understand that excuse and took his leave with a sympathetic nod.
when he was out of earshot, Adara stood and went to the nearest alleyway, a dark deep corridor ensnared between two buildings. with maybe a meter or two on either side of him, a small figure draped in rocky armour was awaiting Adara.
"who are you?" said the elf, quick to the point, "why have you been following us?"
the short, maybe 5 feet tall knight didn't say anything, and merely took out a great sword far to big for himself.
"So be it..." responded Adara, her hand pulling the bone dagger from her waist.
