Chapter 41 - Aftermath

Two Weeks Later.

Gloom's POV.

"Things took a turn for the worst." Malavia told me and Shimmer, having come all the way to tell us that, "Ironwood has been victim of a terrorist attack and we have no way of figuring out who it was." She explained with frustration clear on her face.

I rubbed my forehead, wondering what could have happened, but looking at Shimmer, I knew that she was the one that did it, especially after she gave the general the present, "He was pretty impulsive, there are a lot of people who would have reason to plan this attack." Shimmer pointed out, sounding very calm.

The straightness of Shimmers face made me second guess myself, but best not to dismiss, "They're investigating right?" I asked Malavia, who nodded in response, handing over a few documents, "This is a list of all the worlds that are included in this merged world." She explained, "That's a start." I responded as I read the names of the worlds.

Shimmer leaned over to see aswell, "I know a few, but some I have no idea." She commented, pointing to those she knew, "Reality Prime has the most information leaks of all, but not all." Malavia clarified, "So we have a lot of stuff to investigate... Great..." I softly lamented with a small grimace on my face.

"Let me see a moment." Shimmer requested taking the list from me, "...Okay, from the worlds I recognize, the people who would want to conquer Remnant are Frieza, Bowser, Victor Von Doom, Norman Osborn maybe, I don't know if he's alive currently, but Ganondorf, anyone from places I don't know?" She listed before turning to Malavia with the question.

"That's already quite the list you made, but add Ainz Ooal Gown, and the Royalty form the Vortex Kingdom has quite the history with Remnant, they're in the Lands of Torture." Malavia added to the list, "Lands of Torture is a little on the nose." I commented, "Asmodeus, give me a map of this 'Lands of Torture' place." I requested my assitant and my wand moved, carving a map into the table where we were sitting around.

Malavia snapped her fingers, spawning a copy of the map onto paper, "Now that we got some placed to ask in I'll be going, see you, or if you want come ask questions too." She offered before teleporting away.

Shimmer's POV.

As Malavia teleported away, I felt a weight come off my shoulders thinking I was off the chopping block for now, but then Gloom questioned "It was you wasn't it?" which made me think that I really wasn't.

"...Yes it was me, you would have found out anyway..." I admit, knowing she definetly would have. Looking at her I saw she looked disappointed, "...Why?" She asked, "You don't know Ironwood, we made that clear multiple times now." I pointed out, "He was dangerous, if he thought Teyvat was a threat he would have immediately sent an attack." I explain, remembering that he already sent couting squads.

The new look on Glooms face spelled outshe thought back to that too, "I'll give you that..." She conceeded, "But think about it, if anyone were to find out, you'd be the main target." She pointed out clearly worried, "That's why I choose that moment to do it." I rebutted, "Who would think that one of the people who just finished helping, much less a stranger, would plan something like that?" I pointed out.

"Shimmer... I love you... But you're sick..." Gloom stated, making my heart sink a little, "This doesn't change anything between us... But I just wanted to get it off my chest." She clarified, making me feel better, "It takes the hardest choices sometimes..." I justify myself.

Meanwhile.

Blasphemy X Headquarters.

Malavia's POV.

I turned off the bug I planted there to listen to their discussion, not wanting to hear anymore, and thankfully no one was there to hear it either, "...This makes things difficult..." I thougth outloud with a hand planted against my forehead to calm down, "I get why, I know an outcome of Ironwood, but damn." I think to myself, wondering what to do.

The period of thinking made my mind drift to something mother told me, "They're promising, and improving, keep an eye on them.", this memory made me think some more, "They sure are." I said, agreeing with what mother said.

Giving myself a slap I snapped out of this train of thought, "I can do this, I got this organization through much worse." I reassured myself, getting up from my chair and went out to get some air.
