Chapter 8 - Friend (1)

The best friend character is usually the one that's overlooked in most stories, but they were quite the important character.

After all, they were the ones that helped the main characters develop.

They were the ones that helped support the main characters.

They were the ones that even went as far as dying for the main characters when they needed to.

There was nothing cooler than that!

That was why I aspired to become that best friend character even if it meant meeting my end to let the main character develop!

It all started when I was in kindergarten.

Back then, I didn't even know about being a friend character.

It was during a race that I learned how great it was to be the best friend character.

Back when I was ignorant, I was one of those who wanted to do the best that he could to stand out.

So during that race, it was a fight between me and one of my friends from kindergarten.

But at the very last moment, I tripped and lost that race.

However, it was in that moment that I was able to see the brilliance that a main character could have.

Because it was a close race, because I tripped at the last second, giving over the victory, that friend of mine was able to shine even brighter.

I realized in that moment that the greatest feeling wasn't actually shining as the main character, but rather building up the main character and seeing them shine. Only by building up greatness could one feel that kind of feeling.

And I was addicted.

From then on, the green ranger and the professor became my heroes.

That was why I went on to find more main characters to build up.

After kindergarten I found a main character in different grades and built them up.

But my greatest works were definitely the ones that I called my childhood friends.

Once I found them, I didn't need those other main characters because there were no main characters that were greater than these childhood friends of mine.

And I was dedicated to making them even better!

"Good morning everyone!"

I shouted as I came into the classroom.

Even though they had made a mess of it last night, Yasmin had cleaned it up quite easily it seemed.

When I came in, the three childhood friends of mine immediately turned to look in my direction before looking at each other with strange looks.

I didn't mind this and went forward to greet each one of them.

But when it was Yan Huang's turn, I secretly pulled out a magazine from my bag and handed it over to him with a smile on my face. I leaned in close and said, "Look, I risked my life just to get this for you last night. You should appreciate this."

When he looked down at the magazine that I was handing him, Yan Huang revealed a dark look on his face before saying, "I already told you that I don't need that kind of stuff!"

When he raised his voice like this, the other two quickly came over to see what was happening.

When the two of them saw the magazine that was in my hand, they both revealed dark looks as well and pulled it out of my hand before slapping it on the table.

Yan Huang stood up with the two of them and they surrounded me like this before they started scolding me over this magazine.

Though I revealed a bitter smile, I happily accepted all of the scolding that they gave me.

After all, it was my job to get rid of tension like this.

The moment that I came into the classroom, I had seen that all three of them had been tense. So I knew that it was my job to do something to relieve them of that tension and get them to relax.

If the main characters were too tense, they wouldn't be able to perform their tasks properly.

When they finished scolding, I just bowed my head and said, "I promise that I will never do this again."

All three of them glared at me, but they didn't have time to say anything else since the bell rang.

The teacher came in and they returned to their desks while giving sighs.

As the other two were leaving, I looked over at Yan Huang and gave a wink.

That just got a bigger sigh from him.

Still, I was happy to see that all of them had relaxed a bit since they no longer seemed as tense as before.

Mental care, that was the job of a best friend character like me!

I even wanted to pat myself on the back after seeing how good I was.

But the real job came halfway through class.

All of a sudden, the three of them all revealed frowns on their faces before raising their hands together.

The teacher had been in the middle of saying something when they did this and suddenly stopped talking when he was caught off guard by them.

The three of them took advantage of this to say at the same time, "I need to go to the bathroom!"

They didn't even give the teacher a chance to say anything as they suddenly stood up and left the classroom.

The teacher just stood there in a daze, but he gave a sigh and went back to continue teaching.

But I wouldn't let things be settled like this.

The moment that they ran out like this, my best friend character sensors had already started tingling.

For main characters to suddenly run out like this…it was because they were going to face an enemy!

How could I let them go without me?

So I quickly clutched my waist and said in a loud voice, "I really need to go as well!"

The teacher looked at me with a glare, but seeing how in pain I looked, he had no choice but to let me go.

I didn't waste any time in chasing after my main characters!
