A beam of orange energy soared towards 3D-Man, who could almost see his life flash before his eyes. Peter attached his webs to his shoulder before swinging him up, making 3D-Man fall into Peter's arms as the beam crashed through the building and the ones behind it.
"This is embarrassing," muttered 3D-Man, holding onto Peter tight and looking down as the beam started to follow him.
"Hold tight!" exclaimed Peter, leaping off the building and swinging himself through the window, rolling across the floor of a random apartment with the ray of energy shooting above them as dust from its destruction fell on them.
"That was close!" said 3D-Man lying on the floor, breathing heavily.
"It isn't over yet," replied Peter, getting back up to his feet and helping 3D-Man up.
"WATCH OUT!" yelled Peter, pushing 3D-Man away as two beams cut the building in half with a powerful burnt wood smell lingering.
"Why me!?" moaned Peter, running towards the wall as 3D-Man looked on confusedly until another orange beam started to chase Peter, destroying the front and back of the building. Peter started to run through the wall, not minding the mild pain it caused, as it was most definitely better than death.
The building started to shake, and dust and ash fell on 3D-Man, the creaking of the building becoming louder. "Oh fuck," muttered 3D-Man. He ran to his side wall and leaned against it, disappearing in a cloud of smoke as the building crumbled and collapsed.
As the rubble finally stopped falling, 3D-Man slowly opened his eyes to look at the aftermath as he started glued to his wall, thankfully staying intact. He peeked out towards Vulcan and saw him holding his arm, still attacking Peter, before sneaking out.
Peter continued running through the walls as the beam of energy closed in closer towards him. Eventually, he made it to the end of the block, running out into the air. Peter used a lampost to swing to the other side.
The beam of energy vapourised Peter's web, causing him to tumble to the ground before using his hands to vault to the other building's wall. The beam of energy stopped as Vulcan breathed heavily.
Peter started to run towards Vulcan on the wall, and Vulcan lifted his other arm towards Peter. The beam of energy charged at Peter, eviscerating everything behind it.
Peter jumped off the wall, webbed the window's sides, and slung himself through to the other side. The energy beam went through to the other side too, and Peter swung himself to the roof, looking down as the beam passed him. Peter started to run across the roof and could see ahead as the ground started to collapse towards him.
3D-Man slowly walked towards Vulcan, swinging his bat at his head. Vulcan barely flinched before swinging his arm behind him while turning and slamming it into 3D-Man as he rolled over to the other side. 3D-Man quickly returned to his feet, spitting out a tooth followed by some blood.
Vulcan was preparing his eye beams before being slammed in the head by the head of a car, his energy beams digging through the road instead. Peter started to fall towards Vulcan, preparing to kick him before being swatted away like a bug.
Peter faced Vulcan, holding his waist in pain before charging right back at him. Vulcan threw punch after punch, all of them grazing Peter, who flexibly dodged them while countering.
3D-Man jogged towards a nearby car, poofing it into 2D and crunching it up before throwing it towards Vulcan. Peter webbed up Vulcan's eyes and moved away as the 2D car turned 3D right above Vulcan's head as a crumbled mess. Vulcan quickly burnt the webs away with his eyes before his head smashed into the concrete road.
Before Vulcan could get up, Peter jumped over him, webbing him to the ground. The webs slowly started to snap as Peter continued to unload even more onto Vulcan before he became secured to the ground.
"Did we do it?" asked 3D-Man.
"I think we did!" replied Peter, overjoyed.
3D-Man went to dap Peter up, who instead hugged him with cheering. "Not what I was going for," laughed 3D-Man before reciprocating.
Peter's joy didn't last as time seemed to slow, followed by an all too familiar ringing in his head as he looked back towards Vulcan.
The webs started to burn away as the entirety of Vulcan seemed to glow a faint orange. "SHIT, RU...!" Peter started to yell as 3D-Man was still none the wiser.
A shockwave of energy blasted throughout the street as the car windows shattered all over the floor and the cars themselves slammed into the side rubble. Peter and 3D-Man were sent flying backwards, both their costumes becoming a charred mess as most of their skin became seared and burnt.
Peter opened his eyes again and started to bring himself back up, a part of his hair poking out the numerous holes in his mask, watching as a few birds fell to the ground completely burned. He looked towards 3D-Man, whose suit was also covered with holes and burn marks, as he groaned while rolling on the floor.
"What was that?" asked 3D-Man.
"I don't know," replied Peter, becoming more fearful. Nothing they did seemed to work, and Peter had no idea what Vulcan's power was; it seemed to be way too powerful for them to handle.
Vapour steamed from Vulcan's body as the orange tint in his skin faded and his muscles became slightly more defined and not even scratched.
The two, now back on their feet, readied themselves to fight again, even though it seemed too hopeless.
Vulcan's eyes glowed once more as Peter quickly turned to 3D-Man getting ready to sling him out of the way. Peter's attempt burnt into the wind and through a puff of smoke. Peter could see a 2D figure in between the beams of energy, clearly scared.
Peter felt a small sense of relief until the beams started to move closer to him. Peter's sense forced him to duck low to the ground as the beam went over him while watching 3D-Man fall to the ground through a cloud of smoke, into a puddle of blood on the ground.
"NO!"
