Chapter 25 - Love, Friendship, Betrayal 3

Hekanefer ran towards Henshupta and Spia, when he saw who he hit, his eyes was in shock and fell down to his knees when he found out that the man he killed was the general and her beloved's best friend. Henshupta's eyes beaming with tears. Hekanefer felt chills coming down his spine and clumsily let go of his bow when he found out what he did. Out of his concern for the pharaoh he thought Jardin-Ur is some Egyptian who wanted to kill Henshupta but in fact, was trying to save her queen from a Nubian soldier who the general was trying to protect her from and eventually killed. He protected his queen just as he thought was unfaithful to her or Egypt. Henshupta kissed Jardin-Ur on the forehead and hands that everyone seeing this made them bow or go down to their knees in respects of a good man, the brave and faithful general Jardin-Ur. Henshupta's loving friend whom she adores just like the gods of the universe and in the heavens.

Hi, Henshu, my friend (cough, cough!) How are you? It's been a long time!, Jardin-Ur said in a slow, steady but rough voice. He couldn't breathe and the pain he is feeling is so excrutiating he wanted to die right then and there, now. Stay with me Jardin, please!, Henshupta said crying and holding his bloody hand. No, I have been cursed by the gods because I was unfaithful to you and Egypt. Forgive me! Please take care of Meraek for me, huh! Khonsss….Haaaa….you have grown so beautiful and strong my queen! Thank you and I…love…you!!!, Jardin-Ur gasping for air, gave Henshu a little smile and breathed his last, his eyes moving upwards, after coughing blood, he transpired.

The Egyptian and Nubian troops suddenly stopped fighting when they saw Pharaoh and Jardin-Ur on the ground together. All kept silent, some knelt, some cried for Jardin-Ur was never a bad soldier and leader. He was a great general and a loving, faithful friend to the Queen Pharaoh Henshupta.

The Egyptian Infantry new what Henshupta looked like and rejoiced her return. The spies that Sadiki ordered to observe and check on what's happening at the battlefront returned to the palace to report on Henshupta and Spia's whereabouts.

Sadiki and the other unfaithful elders started to worry and ran to flee from the guards. But Sabah and Angianasim halted them and each elder about three of them were captured and imprisoned at the palace ground prisons. There is no going out there. It is so cold and dark, the cells are so small that one will wish he or she should never been born. The elders along with Sadiki cried out for help but no one is there to free them, not even the death of Jardin-Ur could help them. Sadiki is that heartless elder who used the general for his selfish ambition to be ruler of Egypt. Henshupta will have to deal with him sooner or later.

I care for Jardin-Ur, maybe I love him already, but I am still in love with Henshupta. Though we haven't seen a long time, she still is my one and only love. Meraek thought while waiting patiently for Jardin-Ur and the pharaoh's return. She is at the temple praying and meditating, hence, saw a vision while in yogi position, levitating a few feet from the ground. Meraek, the palace priestess' eyes changed color, from green to blue then grey. She kept silent and like a movie saw everything, even Henshupta and Hekanefer's affair. Her heart gripped in pain, as if it's broke into to two and Meraek fell to the ground, finding that pharaoh is pregnant with the Nubian Prince's baby.

What have you done, Henshupta? You told me, you love me, Meraek added while in her vision it continued, thus, seeing Jardin-Ur being carried in a chariot, cold and lifeless, dead as the many Egyptian and Nubian soldiers in the battlefield in the middle of Sudan and Egypt border near the Nile River.

You betrayed Egypt and the throne, Meraek cried in thought since she was very jealous and sobbed for Jardin-Ur's death, not because she loves him but because he doesn't have someone who truly cared for him for he is dead and she's all alone now. Anhemnotep, Henshupta's father who she considered as her dad was also gone, so how can she go on without Henshu in her life since...

Meraek, my darling!, Henshupta greeted shouting from the top of her lungs when she saw her beloved priestess at the temple near the palace.

Hmp…beloved, when you are pregnant with a Nubian Prince's child. How can you do this to me?, Meraek replied angrily without facing the queen.

I love you Meraek, but many things happened when I was abducted by the Nubes. It's a long story, but you're not happy to see me. I am with child but I want to raise her or him with you, do you understand what I'm saying?, Henshupta added now feeling tired and sitting down on one of the chairs at the temple. Ohh…..
