Chapter 17 - Volume 1. Chapter 14 - Registration in the guild.

I said in a cheerful tone and a little hissing.

Let's be a little friendlier, and maybe make my life easier.

And unsurprisingly, apparently not wanting to waste my time, the girl at the reception quickly explained the essence of the adventurers, which I already understood, as well as their nomadic, fickle lifestyle.

 - Then I would like to register.

With fingers still clumsy in their work, they handed me a cheap paper with a neatly written, but clearly worn form there. A second ago, it was lying on the table along with other waste paper, next to a pair of pencils and a paper knife.

Girl: - I'll ask you to fill it out, e-e-if you have problems with the letter, then I can help you.

I abruptly snatched the paper and pencil from her hands, already turning towards the nearest document table.

- I'm capable of it myself.

On the faded, yellowed letterhead, there were quite ordinary questions that, often, can flash in a conversation. Something like a name, your skills. Of the more personal ones, there were, for example, age and past profession.

And in the corner of the sheet, there was a neat, even square, above which its purpose was emblazoned in small print. "A fingerprint in blood."

Well, apparently I miscalculated the purpose of a small blade on a thin handle lying on the table. But it would be stupid to come back already. Besides, if you look back, you can see that the room is clearly not perfectly clean. Although I still have a smouldering hope that at least this tool is somehow disinfected. In any case, I trust my claws much more, because after cutting my finger, I carefully stained the floor of my hand with blood from it. But the print was excellent.

When I finished writing, I threw the form on the reception desk.

The girl walked away with the piece of paper a little to the side, to another table, carefully rereading the contents. Her gaze darted between me and the writing, as if in some confusion.

You're not being paid for your insecurities, but for signing papers, so do your job!

But as if this girl's thought processes accelerated in an instant, and this second she made a more professional face, well, as much as she could, her eyes quickly returned to the form. Taking the paper, she took it deep into the working rooms of the guild, and then returned with it, and immediately there was a thud. The seal is set, it looks like I'm an adventurer now.

From the locker, she took out a simple-looking rectangular plate that looked like a metal playing card, and for a second she put it on some kind of magical device along with the document, handed it to me.

Girl: - P-the last thing you need to do, that is! What we are asking you to do is to make a magic imprint in the next room…

She pointed a slightly trembling finger at the room near the reception desk. And there is no way to spend it? Or do you have a passageway there?

"Should I wait for you?"

Girl: - N-no, just go in there and they'll do everything!

Well, yes, and why not, the Middle Ages are on the street, we have self-service…

I went into the room, there was a crowd…

Newbies?

The children of the workers?

A school trip?

Yes, some of them look thirteen years old! Which of you are adventurers, come to your senses! You will die, even if you read books about monsters and herbs for a year.…

- Well, I'll finish this as soon as possible…

And so that they would politely give way to me as soon as possible, and also to brighten up the wait, I began to twist the knife in my hand, flexing my fingers. Surprisingly, everyone wanted to give in to the elder, what a good generation!

I approached the employee, who was probably engaged in the "mana imprint". This could be understood especially well by his dead look, and a complete misunderstanding of what he was still doing here, which froze like concrete on his nondescript face.

Employee: - Show the card and put your hand on this ball.

His eyes quickly twitched towards the white sphere, without distracting from some paperwork, and then with quick movements he attached my card to the strange instrument.

A flash of light came out of the ball.

The employee handed me a plate, in the upper left corner of which a circle appeared, somewhat similar to a trace of engine oil on water…

Employee: - Welcome to the Adventurers Guild.

He spoke monotonously and dryly, pointing to the exit with his gaze.

And now, it's time to put my sinister plan into action!

Since I already have pieces of wild boar and a bunch of wolf corpses, why not take the task of killing these creatures and sell all their carcasses at the same time!

I quickly picked out a couple of suitable contracts hanging on the stand and walked briskly to a new acquaintance, threw the paper on her desk.

- I'll take these.

And without wasting time, he went to his room at the hotel.
