Chapter 1 - Ascension!

On the highest platform on Void Mountain's peak, the most forbidden area in the Ancient Era stood a black-garbed man with rapt attention. With a gaze that penetrated anything that stood in its way.

High above the clouds, the sun hung on the space, flooding the land below in its warm glow, illuminating the world.

The man took deep breaths as he spread his arms toward the sky; with that simple movement, all the lights got sucked in his palms, and the world dimmed.

A foul wind stirred, wreathing with endless howls of agony from the scattered ghosts on the void mountain's peak.

The wind picked up the man's elegant hair, revealing a demonic face behind it. His pair of spiral dragon horns on his forehead shined with a metallic luster, piercing towards the sky, sharp and imposing. His red pupils revealed dominance and indifference.

The sun dimmed, while the man's aura and power kept skyrocketing from the rays that he absorbed. Soon, even dark energy began slowly rising from him.

With his face battered by the freezing winds, the dark energy grew thicker until it covered his whole body. He suddenly released a deep breath, and an evil smile adorned his face.

Rumble!!

With a loud sound as the trigger, the four mountains in the vicinity erupted while the void mountain's peak itself was wracked by terrible tremors. The man who sucked all of the light that was illuminating the world slowly opened his eyes.

With a space-rending sound, a flash of light tens of meters above the man appeared.

As the light generated by it scattered, there appeared a gigantic gate spanning over tens of kilometers radiating an intense golden glow and immense divine power, threatening the man who dared to summon it of the consequences of its own actions.

The darkness that was enveloping everything got pushed away by a light that was just as strong; however, they remained at a standstill without a winner.

White light was illuminating the whole area where the golden gate was hovering; while darkness was covering everything on the side of the man that was facing the gigantic gate.

Jhin's eyebrows shook for a fraction as he spoke in an eerie voice, " If this is everything you have got to see if I have the qualifications to enter the holy land, then I'll already tell you that you should go all out from the start and not play games!"

" Haha, a constellation merely a million years old dares to act this arrogant in front of the Holy Gate? It seems like you mere lowly beings forgot your place after you didn't take the ascension test for billions of years!"

An old man materialized in front of the gate after Jhin's words, stroking his beard as he spoke up with laughter; a look of disdain was fully displayed in his eyes.

Jhin's heart skipped a beat hearing the old man's words, and he immediately retorted," Old man, you should know better than everyone not to look down on us constellations just cause of our failures this whole time."

Jhin then paused for a moment as two daggers glowing with a faint black luster appeared in both of his hands," The constellations you were referring to were mere weaklings brainlessly devouring worlds to strengthen themselves and their armies."

"Let me show you what I, the constellation of Darkness and Destruction capable of!"

Finishing his words, Jhin's figure vanished into thin air leaving no trace whatsoever of his existence in the same dimension as every other being.

Subsequently, and right before the old man could even have time to blink, a pitch-black dagger radiating immense divine power struck him from the back of his neck, threatening to dismantle his head from his shoulders in a single strike.

' Hmm?' Jhin who was invisible to the naked eye and any divine sense blinked in confusion as he failed to feel his dagger cutting anything.

' Is this some kind of imperceptible shield protecting his body?' Understanding this much, he instantly moved his dagger placed on his right hand to target the same spot as the other one.

Jhin didn't stop at this point as even before the right dagger could hit the old man's neck, he began madly using all kinds of power boosts to support this one attack.

Even though this was just but a probing attack from Jhin to test the old man's strength, he felt that using half of his strength in this attack was worth it to see how well would he fare later on during the fight.

At the same time as Jhin made his move which didn't take more than a second, the old man finally reacted after he felt a tingling sensation coming from the back of his neck.

Sigh!

The old man sighed as he looked at the owner of the two daggers struggling to scratch his bare skin. The darkness Jhin used to make himself undetected from the current dimension utterly failed when faced with the old man's titan eyes.

Jhin at that moment felt like the old man in front of him who just turned his head to face him wasn't merely looking at him, but was instead directly gazing at the very depths of his soul.

In that single breath of time, Jhin felt a sensation he never experienced since a long, long, long time ago.

' Is this death?'

Splash!

With a mere finger gently pushed towards the daggers stuck on his bare-white skin, the old man instantly turned jhin into minced meat.

In a frame of time that didn't even come close to surpass the second and half.

The being feared and known by all across the current era which was renowned as the Constellation of Darkness and Destruction was killed on the spot without even having the strength to resist his fate.

It should be known that the Constellation of Darkness and Destruction was ranked Fith in the current Era.

Yet, even though such a strong being who was on top of the food chain felt that he accumulated enough strength and dared to ascend to the Holy Land attempting to cross the Holy Gate.

The same words that were long forgotten by all the Constellations across this Era once again rang in every single being who was currently watching the fight from far away...

No matter how strong you become, you should never consider ascension!
