Chereads / Tensura Alteration: The Forgotten One / Chapter 25 - Velzard's Tempest Stroll

Chapter 25 - Velzard's Tempest Stroll

Velzard POV

Since we have a couple of free weeks, and I was bored out of my mind I decided to just wander this city, much to my surprise it was filled to the brim with anything the mind can think of, food that was exquisite, entertainment for all people, there was even a coliseum, which we were banned from using because

"Its unfair to the normal adventurers who come here to test their skills only to be stopped by a fucking true dragon and a bunch of other godly monsters."

How does that make sense?

I don't see the problem, you come for fights you should be used to all situations, nevermind that now.

As I was wandering the town Guy soon met up with me, he had Rain and Mizery carrying some bags, well, mostly Mizery, Rain was carrying one, Mizery was carrying five.

"My my~, Guy, the evil demon king buying things irrelevant to power and his future plans?"

He didn't seem amused.

"These are absolutely crucial to my rule, I was considering sharing Shuna's best dish, but it seems useless to you no?"

I realized that I messed up big time.

"N-no, you're right, it's crucial."

He was about to explode laughing, that bastard.

"I might just take the title of Dragon Tamer for myself, don't you think?"

He has the biggest grin on his face.

I was frustrated at his remark but kept quiet.

Over the last few months as the world went really quiet since nothing happened after the fight with Granbell, me and Guy started enjoying life together way more, we realized there was much more beyond strength and dueling, obviously that was still our favorite to do, but we began to enjoy visiting Tempest a few times every month along with some other countries, like Eurazania and Lubelios, obviously under disguise but it was still fun for both of us nonetheless, we envied humans a lot, they are infinitely weaker than us but are so easy to entertain, I see why Older Brother likes them so much, they are so different.

Me and Guy kept strolling Tempest until we stopped by Rimuru who was also bored and taking a break from his paperwork.

"Hey guys, enjoying your weekly stroll?" He sounded quite tired, do monsters at his level even get tired from simple tasks?

"You look like you've seen better days,  paperwork again?" Guy asked him.

"Yeah.. it is so difficult.." He answered Guy's question, and I immediately took the chance.

"What good is a ruler who's mental endurance is not good, let alone can't handle easy work?" I said that with the biggest smile on my face.

"Easy? How about you try it, if it's hard you'll work as my paper-doer for a week, if it's easy you get unlimited free food.

No cheating."

Easy, I thought to myself.

"Well then, I just got myself the biggest blessing every, thank you Rimuru~"

I don't know why Guy was laughing so much, but I took my leave from Guy and went with Rimuru.

"Shuna, get Velzard a comfortable seat in front of my table, and get her all the paperwork, she said she'll do it out of her volition because she feels bad."

Shuna looked at me with the clearest 'God protect your soul on your journey to the afterlife' look.

I saw Rimuru grinning like a maniac before leaving, after he left I heard his extremely discomforting "Ahahaha" laugh, Shuna just brought the paperwork slowly, at first I thought a stack of 50 papers wouldn't be much..

But oh I was wrong..

The dread of seeing.. hundreds... Upon hundreds..

Rimuru.. you work delaying bastard..

"Rest in pe- Ahem , I'll let you work in peace, Velzard-Sama."

I could only nod before she left.

After what seemed like an eternity, signing papers, half of which were citizens requesting personal meetings with Rimuru! Why are they so obsessed?!!? The other half was trade related and diplomatic affairs that I talked with the White Primordial about, apparently she was the one tasked with politics and what not, she even represents Tempest in other countries and councils, she helped me so much.. I'll need to repay her favor somehow, maybe I'll let her serve me?

Overall, it took a good 6 hours to finish..

Right after I finished Rimuru came back in new clothes that looked.. I can't even remember.. I'm so tired...

"Ahahaha!" Rimuru kept laughing like a maniac... that annoying laugh..

"Holy shit! You look so miserable! I can't.. I can't!"

"Shut up...." I forgot something.

"Oh I'm sorry, I forgot you still had a week left at this! Ahahaha!"

I heard him say that and slowly raised my head..

"What... week?"

"You forgot our bet? If you found it hard you'll work as my paperworker for a week!

Ahahaha!"

"No! No! Nooooooooo! Stop laughing! Get me out of this nightmare..." I was done for, there was no way I'd survive a week... True Dragons are the strongest beings.. but this is something even beyond..

Rimuru kept laughing for 3 minutes and then stopped, he approached my body and checked if I was alive.

He raised my head up and saw my soul had already left my body.

"Fine fine.. I already laughed too much.. consider this humiliation your bet pay!"

Hmph.. cheeky bastard! My soul then just floated back into my body, then I walked up and started moving like a corpse, I slept on the couch Veldora sleeps on in the same room, I'm not walking who knows how many steps when I'm this tired...

I felt Rimuru staring a bit at me behind my back, holding his laughter at my misery, before he left.

I felt so mentally drained, this was a whole new type of training I must go through..

I just so happened to step into the wrong level, usually you start at the bottom and make your way up but this is the final level.

I stayed awake for a few hours as it turned to the middle of the night, then got up, I was still a bit shaken at the humiliation but experience is the best teacher.

I was surprised to see Guy observing Shuna teaching Mizery and Rain how to make a cake that he liked a lot, when he saw me he quickly turned around and acted like he was looking through the window.

"Hey Guy..." I was still mentally exhausted, and he quickly noticed.

"You don't sound too well, let me guess, your pride came back to bite you?" His cheeks inflated as he was about to burst laughing.

"Shut up! You would die! If I wasn't a True Dragon I would have died!

No creature can handle such mental destruction! How does Rimuru do it?

Tell me Shuna! Tell me!" I lost my cool, Shuna was visibly sympathetic.

"We've all been there.. It's okay Velzard-Sama, We all took this training, no one made it past the first 300 papers, except a select few, me, Diablo, Rimuru-Sama and Iudex."

Guy clicked his tongue at the mention of Diablo's name, he figured as much, he would do anything for Rimuru.

I was at least eased by the fact so few people passed through.

"I expect nothing less from you, Shuna, for Diablo, it is as we all know, he would walk across the planet for Rimuru..

Rimuru, how the hell does he do it!? He seems so mentally behind sometimes, or wait...

It can't be what I think it is, can it be Guy?"

Guy affirmed what I was thinking with a simple nod.

"Cheater..

How does Iudex pass though? He really.. doesn't seem like the type of guy who would be able to handle this line of work..."

"Actually he and Rimuru-Sama both got full marks on this training."

"Huh?! How? Tell me!"

"I really don't know, it weirded us all out, he took over Rimuru-Sama's work for 4 days as part of his extra training."

"Wait, I think I know aswell..

Sigh.." It was because he was already mentally disciplined, being stuck in the pitch black darkness for centuries with no one is the toughest, isn't it? At least he didn't cheat like Rimuru with his overly powerful assistant...

"Let's go, I'll leave them to it." Guy told me and we both left the room.

"Guy.. those hours without you felt like the emptiest time of my life.."

...What did I just say?

I felt Guy realizing what I said and he smiled a little before we continued, I was extremely embarrassed, but it was the truth regardless, spending time in that mental destruction chamber made me realize how important Guy was in my life, and how drastically different my life would've been without him.

The next day we left to the Ice Continent after Shuna taught Rain and Mizery some exquisite recipes, Guy and me were in anticipation, and they did not disappoint.

Now all me and Guy anticipate is doing stuff together like this more.
