Chapter 41 - What did Julian want from Esme?

Silas's jaw clenched, his annoyance growing. He wouldn't tolerate anyone interfering with his way of conducting things. Who was Julian to meddle with his matters?

"Do you trust him?" he asked sharply, instead of replying to her question. 

Esme felt a lump form in her throat as she tried to speak. "It's not about trusting him, Silas," she reasoned. "I just want to know the truth. I only knew that you have a penthouse on the top floor. I didn't know this entire building was yours." 

"You never asked me. I own several properties. This is just one of them. What is the issue? The company owns all the buildings where the employees are staying. So, every single building is mine." 

Esme felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment. She found herself speechless again. Silas was technically right. He was the heir to the vast properties of Sullivans. How foolish she was to ask that question?
