Chapter 80 - Chapter 78 : Little Butterfly

"Are you ready?"

"Yes..."

Nodding her head somewhat hesitantly, Ayase swallowed nervously; this moment was one of the most crucial in her life.

"You don't have to be so nervous; everything will be fine. Trust me."

Wearing a doctor's outfit with gloves and a face mask, Yuki carefully looked at Ayase, who was also dressed loosely, wearing only a hospital gown.

She felt extremely embarrassed, but knowing that she could regain the use of her legs was enough for her to endure the embarrassment.

"Alright, now relax."

"Okay."

Injecting anesthesia, Yuki assisted Ayase, who was now lying in what looked like a small operating room. She was very nervous, but soon her eyelids felt heavy, and she fell into a deep sleep.

Yuki was now fulfilling his promise; after the celebration, he was about to heal Ayase.

He looked at her legs with the Sharingan and shook his head. He didn't know what had happened in the past for Ayase to be in this condition, but he knew it must have been a significant event in her life.

Her legs were practically destroyed by the Apocalypse virus; several tendons were torn and crystallized. Ayase must have been exposed to an accident with a high degree of Apocalypse virus exposure.

Currently, this must have been impossible to cure. However, for Yuki, it was still manageable. He had Medical Jutsu and the Void Genome. Even though his medical skills didn't compare to Shizune's, let alone Tsunade's, he was still Tsunade's student.

Therefore, Yuki absorbed all the cancer in her legs while also starting to repair her tendons and damaged parts of her leg. It was a somewhat time-consuming process, but it didn't matter as long as it was successful.

---------

Outside the infirmary, Tsugumi was nervously waiting. Inori, Argos, Gai, and the rest of the team were also there, staring at the door.

They had been informed that Ayase would undergo surgery, with a very high probability of success. They were also surprised to learn that Yuki was the one healing Ayase.

If he succeeded, this boy truly was a living miracle.

"Relax; she'll be fine."

"Even if you say that..."

Despite Argos's words, Tsugumi was very worried about her friend. She knew Ayase's situation very well, so she knew how challenging it would be for Ayase to walk again.

However, as she nervously waited, the door of the infirmary opened. Yuki, wearing the medical outfit and supporting Ayase's body, came out. Ayase was walking very slowly.

"Aya-nee!"

---------

"Are you awake?"

Opening her eyes slowly, Ayase looked at Yuki.

She turned her head, noticing she was still in the infirmary.

"How... was it? Did it... work?"

With Ayase's shaky words, Yuki just smiled, gently removing the sheet covering her legs.

"Why don't you find out for yourself?"

Swallowing, Ayase was afraid.

Afraid that Yuki's words were just false hope, afraid that she would still be the useless one in the wheelchair, afraid of knowing that she could never walk again, afraid of the truth.

But she had to do it, so she clenched her teeth and gathered her courage.

"This..."

Ayase saw it; her toes were moving. This caused tears to quickly gather in her eyes, falling down her face.

"I... I..."

Trembling with excitement, Ayase couldn't control her emotions, but soon a hand on her head calmed her.

"It was successful; you can walk again, Ayase."

Smiling tenderly, Yuki stroked her hair. However, those words made Ayase's tears flow even faster.

"Thank you! Thank you!.. Thank you... So much... Thank you."

Looking at Yuki's smile, Ayase felt strong emotions in her chest. She hugged his body, burying her head in his chest, shedding tears of happiness.

She could feel it; her toes were moving rapidly.

So, without wasting more time, she separated from Yuki and, with a sudden movement, tried to stand up.

However, her legs failed her again, causing her to fall to the ground.

"Eh?"

"Well, well, you can't do that; you're still weak and recovering."

Fortunately, Yuki was by her side, holding her body in time to prevent her from hitting the ground.

Ayase had forgotten something important.

That due to the time she couldn't use her legs, she wasn't accustomed to them. It was like if wings suddenly grew on an ordinary person, and they tried to fly on the first attempt. That would only cause them to fall because they weren't used to it. Not to mention that Ayase's legs were internally shattered, making them fragile and still rapidly recovering.

Ayase was like a little butterfly that had emerged from its cocoon, still fragile to fly.

However, none of that mattered to Ayase because now she was standing, even if with Yuki's help.

She was standing!

How long had it been since she could feel her own legs again?

How many years since the last time she could move her toes?

How many years since the last time she could feel the cold floor?

Just for this, her tears spilled onto the ground.

"Come on, lean on me; don't rush it. Soon, you'll be walking as you used to."

"Yes..."

Leaning on Yuki's body, Ayase took her first steps, like a baby learning to walk.

"!"

Walking very slowly, like a snail, Ayase was staring fixedly at her legs.

"I'm... walking... I... am... walking."

"Calm down. Do you want to try it outside? There are people waiting for you outside that door."

Looking toward the door, Yuki encouraged her. Ayase, however, smiled very sweetly.

"Yes... Yes..."

"Alright, let's go then."

Supporting her body, Yuki walked with Ayase very slowly, opening the door.

"Aya-nee!"

And of course, the first to get excited was Tsugumi. She ran towards Ayase and hugged her tightly, crying with happiness.

Gently leaving Ayase to Tsugumi, Yuki just smiled before joining the rest of the team, who were watching the duo with small tears in their eyes.

"Yuki..."

"Come here, dear."

Taking Inori in his arms, Yuki looked at tears falling from her face. She, like Tsugumi, was happy for Ayase.

Despite being a terrorist group, they were a very close-knit group. That's why Yuki just glanced at the Mole among them with one eye and shook his head.

This betrayal was not something Yuki was going to forgive. However, for now, the Mole was very useful for his future plans.
