The few week was peacefully stressful, jumping out from bed realizing she was already late, to running to work like mad person, always in a haste to make coffee and ends up making it over again, picking suites, ordering, making arrangement, picking venue for meeting, texting, calling, replying mails, following him alround and continuously saying yes sir.
That has been her everyday routine, everyone at the office is surprise as at why she has not been fired yet even when she has been careless on countless occasion like when they had an important meeting but got the venue wrong and when she she add sugar to his coffee and was rushed to the hospital due to allergies.
But still, she there and she still does not know why, maybe she good her work at some extent even professional were fired not less than 24 hours then she who has no ides of the work is there. She had not have peace of mind since she started working with him, imagine him callibg when she was sleeping just to ask for some document or to ask about a appointment or something.
She had even had an encounter when she was sleeping she received a call from him and rush out that night to have an video call meeting with him at the office. But the most exciting part of her job is if she boss does not want to go to work, she definitely does not have to go to work. Mr Logan traveled out for an event so she on her free day but once a call comes In and she needs she has to drop everything she doing and report.
Since it been a while she had time for herself, she decided to go to the market get things needed in the house and get one or two things for herself and prepare a nice food for Thea to show her appreciation. They have not really been eating healthy for a while, always junk. She really does not know how to cook but can cook pasta really well.
She met Thea at the bus stand over eight years ago and her condition was not really good then. She ran away with her boyfriend then of which her father rejected. Her father sent a lot of men to find her and bring her back but she kept on running from them. So her father disowned her for disobeying him. Her father is a wealthy man known In the entertainment industry.
Eventually her boyfriend left her and when she went back home, her father told her never to come back that she no longer part of the family register. She took her home and since then we been best friends. Since then she always curse men and hated them. After getting the thing needed, she walk into a clothes stores to some few dresses but after seeing the price tag and my account balance. It was not corresponding, so she decided to get two dresses and a bag with the faith that onces she was paid in a week time she will be able to afford at most six dresses, two or three bags and few heels.
"I will get that bag too", someone said to the one for the attendant showing her the bag Layla was holding. " I already got this one " Layla said as she slowly smiled and turn this the lady who was requesting for the bag. Her smile slowly disappear, the lady standing in front of her was the last person she wanted to see right now. It was the lady that her boyfriend cheated on. Seeing her here hurt her pride, "oh my pride " she slowing said to herself. Her ex girlfriend is in front of her but funny enough she has not thought about Luca for a while maybe she finally over him.
Harper walk to her to check the price tag and seeing it she gave out a gasp and hold her mouth and slowly talk to her ear "Do you want to go broke after buying this". Layla did not say anything she just walk away and slowly said to her self not loudly "thank God I picked below my budget ". But Harper was not going to let her go off easily "I said I want that bag, is not like you can afford ". Harper shouted as everyone in the store started paying attention.
She was already getting pissed off, she stole her man now she want this bag, she did not realize when Harper got to where she was standing and snatch the bag from her "I don't need your whole drama Harper, you know I got the bag first ". She know the way people re already looking at then so she does not want to make harsh decision but Harper does not want to let go like she was going to die for the bag.
The attendants there were trying to stop the misunderstanding but Harper kept raising her voice that she won't let go of the bag " so this is the way you treat your customer, I said I need this one in particular she has touched " Even the attendant does not know what to do. While Layla thought she left her boyfriend to her but not the bag. " I got the bag first and I am going to pay for it along with the dresses I picked ".
No one was ready to leave the bag then another attendant ran to then "Miss Harper am really sorry but she already paid for the bag". Layla was trying to look for who paid for the bag, both people are fighting for the bag and now someone else want to join. "Harper shouted with annoyance in her voice "who". The attendant pointed to Layla "miss Layla already did".
Layla was shocked but she pretended maybe it was a way to settle to fight "when did she pay " the attendant pointed for Layla to go over to get her receipt and they apologize to the Harper. She angrily left the store without getting anything and when Layla got to the cashier desk " thank you for helping me out ". The lady smiled saying "the item was already paid for so there was no need to fight over it.
Layla did not get what she was saying so she brought out her card to pay only for the lady to tell her " ma do you want to pay double". She did not understand "did anyone pay for me ". The cahier was focused on her system so she did not reply "pls your home address so I can attach it to your receipt ".
Layla was still very much confused, the lady strech her hand to give her the receipt "can you tell me who it was so I can thank the person " the cashier raise her head and said "ma you gave me your card before you went to pick the bag, so you already paid for it". She was trying to remember the scene but that was not what happened. She knew she came to the cashier after picking the dress then found out she can still spend a little then she went to pick the bag but she did not remembered bringing her card to pay.
It got more complicated so she just left the place, she could not believe that Harper would embarrass herself over a bag. She thought they both suit each other and decided to forget what happened at the store. She got home prepared pasta with veggies and egg with enough of cheese in it.Just the way she loves it.
She spend the whole day watching movies, she did not remember that she she had a boss or she was evening working "I wish all my days will be like this ". Just when she thought that her day was going fine she had a call only for the name Mr Logan Ford the scumbag to be clearly written. She let out a very loud scream why would he be a moment spoiler.
She cleared her throat "Good afternoon sir" there was a minute silent before he started talking "What are you up to". Hope his is not yet back from his trip, "having peace of mind "she did not say it loudly so he did not get to hear what she said "what did you say". She knew if she repeat herself again, she would be gone for good "having lunch sir ". She can hear voices from the other end, he was on a trip why call her "I sent you a picture to look up for me, any single details hidden or buried about that person you must find out without leaving any information out".
Now I have turned into a secret detective, is this job not getting more interesting "yes sir " and the call ended. Why can't I have peace, what resources do I need to even look for any information about someone or how do they even do it . She went to her email and just saw a photo "No name "she shouted. How will she even start . She decided to ask Mr Thomas who told her that she will have to do her own digging and as well go to the research department and ask about someone and only him should know about it.
Thea eventually came back after what seems like forever, layla ran to hug her "oh staying here along is boring "Thea smiled at her" that why I brought some drinks" Layla hit her "do you want to drown in alcohol " they both laugh "I brought cake tho " she took the cake and drink to set on the table "Go bath I prepared pasta " Thea jumped up in happiness "finally ". She ran up to bath and after few minutes she came back.
After eating and drinking, they joked around and discuss about thing. "do you know any thing about this guy". Layla brought out her phone and show her the picture.She was in the news world and digging about peoples life and information was what she does. Thea look at the picture trying to know where she saw the face " Mr Allen, you dont want to fuck with him".
Thea said while eating the cake in her hand "How did you get his picture anyways "Layla kept the phone "Scumbag told me to dig anything on him"Thea sat properly seem the discussion was going to something serious. "You have to be careful tho, even the police are scared of him ". Thea stood up to get her laptop "he kills brutally ".
"No one looks for his trouble and the court does not find any reasonable evidence to put him behind bars ". They both went through the information Thea has"jezz, this is serious ". "What ever your boss need this information for, you have to subtract yourself from it at all cost". One can easily see the fear all written in Layla's face.
"So your free tomorrow "Thea said trying to change the topic, she saw the fear all over Layla face so she had to stop the discussion. "Probably, if he does not call "Thea hold her hand "let go to the beach ". She smiled trying to convince Layla to go to the beach with her "Fine". The night came very slow, they watched movie till they both slept on the couch...
