Getting up Wesley got ready for work. Putting on a pair of pants and a yellow shirt he looked into the mirror. In the reflection stood a young man with short black hair and pale light skin. His face was unremarkable with only his golden eyes standing out.
Looking at the bags under his eyes he sighed. Getting to sleep last night was a challenge he couldn't stop thinking about magic unfortunately he had work in the morning.
Grabbing a jacket he left out the door locking it before he left. Working in construction is not the most enjoyable work but it pays well.
"Morning Blake, what are we doing today?"
"Morning Wesley, we are going back to Quincey today"
"What are we doing at Quincey I thought we already finished the remodel?" Wesley looked confused they had already finished the remodel last week.
"Don't know the office just said to go back and that we'd be there for the rest of the week"
"Sigh..... Of course not why would they. I guess we'll just have to figure that out when we get there." Leaving Wesley went into the shop to grab a case of water.
Opening the door stood two men talking. "Oh, hey guys what's going on?"
"Nothing really just trying to figure out what we need today. Actually Welsey do you know where the small generator is at?"
"I think Mike has it on his truck or at least he had it last week." Picking up the water he walked toward the door. "Alright I got my water do you guys need anything else?"
"Nope, we're good I'm gonna go see if I can find Mike"
"Yup, see you later" Leaving the shop Wesley drove to the job site.
Quincey was a frustrating place to work at. The elementary was filled to the brim with kids screaming at the top of their lungs all day long.
Walking into the front door he passed the front office into the hallway and went inside the gym. Standing inside was Blake. "So you figure out what we're doing?"
"Yeah, I talked to the principal and they said we need to change all the door knobs and clean all the gutters. Apparently, we were supposed to have already done all this but the office forgot to tell us so we are doing it now"
"Ughhh… So we have to go open every door to every classroom and change every door knob." Rubbing his eyes Wesley sighed. "Today is going to be a long day"
"It's Monday what do you expect"
"Sigh, I guess your right." Picking up his tools he walked to the locker room doors. "Ok, guess I'll just start right here"
__________
Getting home from work Wesley threw his keys back on the table and sat down. Leaning back he rubbed his eyes and sighed. Work was exhausting; dealing with kids screaming all day made Monday feel longer than it already was especially when all he could think about was getting home. But finally, work was over he could get back to learning magic.
Last night he spent most of his time creating the Light Spell Magic Circle over and over again. He learned three things. One the circle can not be used more than one time at least using paper. Two the circle itself has to be perfect however the symbols have a little more room for error. Three the spell lasts ten minutes after letting go of the paper cutting it off from a mana source.
"OK, I need a pencil, paper, a bowl, and a ruler. I think that's all after that I should start looking at the next spell" he said mumbling to himself. Getting up he left to collect the materials.
"Ok I'm ready"
The Extinish Light Spell is the next most basic spell after the light spell. The steps for this spell are almost the same as the light spell. Step one draw the magic circle located above using a medium such as mana or paper and pencil.
The magic circle was the same as before a six-pointed star with a circle around it and six different symbols at each point. The only thing different was the center instead of a circle it was a solid circle.
After having drawn the magic circle over ten times the night before drawing this one was not as difficult. He only took fifteen minutes compared to the thirty it took the first time.
"Ok, now step two"
Step two focus on the light source you wish to extinguish then activate the spell.
Looking around Wesley saw that the only lights on were the lights on the ceiling fan. Guess they will do I don't really see any other ones.
"Ok, focus on the light and think activate"
Closing his eyes he imagined the lights going off and activated the circle. He felt the energy traveling from his heart to his hands and into the circle. Opening his eyes he saw the Circle starting to glow. It took one minute for the circle to be completely covered in the magenta hue.
Once the circle gained a magenta hue he felt the energy leave the circle and travel towards the light. As it left the circle the glow disappeared and slowly it started to encompass the light like it was trying to suffocate it.
The light grew dimmer and dimmer until finally, it disappeared leaving Wesley in the dark. Getting up he turned the light switch off and back on however the light did not turn back on.
"Hmm… Maybe I need to wait for the spell to wear off?"
Waiting ten minutes he tried the light switch but nothing changed.
"Maybe when it extinguishes the light it extinguishes it permanently. Hopefully, I can just change the bulb and it will work again"
Turning on his phone light he went into the closet and grabbed the extra light bulbs. Stepping on a chair he started unscrewing the bulbs to replace them however he quickly stopped.
"Huh…" Surprised he took a closer look. "The energy is surrounding the light bulbs. Is that what's keeping them from turning on?"
He quickly changed out the light bulbs and turned the lights back on. On the table were the bulbs. Picking them up he examined them once more. He could feel the energy engulfing the bulbs.
"Interesting, is the energy stopping the light from coming back on? I wonder how, is it strangling any light that appears, or is it destroying the source of the light itself?"
"I should try it out with fire I wonder if I could understand how it did it… I guess I should throw these away since they won't work anymore"
'Plop'
Throwing the bulbs in the trash he went back to experiment with the spell.
