Chapter 48 - I Said Long-Range Scanning Spell, Not Long Range Bombardment

"To start with a simple one, try inputting the imagery of an expanding wave that starts to get weaker the longer the distance it travels. Make the form to be something less physical, electromagnetic and radio waves is a good reference if you're familiar with it.

"The more corporeal your spell is, the more space you need inside your psycast field for it to work. It's also important to include restrictions on your spell lest you want your psycast field to overheat.

"Then, add a trait, a function, a feedback for an interaction, that whenever the 'wave' touches something, it will send back the knowledge of the interacted object's presence and location.

"You can also try using your own interpretation, but be specific. An abstract command will cause a leak on the computation, and it might only greatly affect a continuous spell, but it won't hurt to start getting used to it.

"On another note, you can also try adding numerical calculations within that input. The more mathematical value you input, the more precise your spell will be. It's also a great way to perform a complex spell without wasting too much computation space within your psycast field."

Hopscotch performed what Nagan had instructed, casting a long range scanning spell to scout the area towards the mountain.

Intuitively, Hopscotch also made the power of the scanning wave to be relative to the available space inside the psycast field, allowing the scanning spell to go much further than what was initially expected.

There, the outlines of the whole scanned area were sent into her mind. And when she gazed at the direction where she cast that spell, the whole direction appeared as if she was looking through a live x-ray schematic.

It was the first proper spell that Hopscotch ever cast, as she had only been using her psycast power to strengthen her body and perform a levitation or moving an object like some sort of telekinesis.

Albeit faint, a smile was present as she felt some sense of achievement. "I'll assume that most spells can be constructed using the same procedure and logic."

"That will be for you to experiment." Nagan grinned.

"Can I also do the same?" Bluebell tilted her head with her index finger pointed to herself.

"If you remembered what I instructed to Hopscotch, you can try to do the same."

"Okay!"

Fueled by curiosity and courage, Bluebell got into a strange fighting stance that appeared to have some sort of great effect according to her own belief and interpretation. With both hands facing forward and open fingers, she started to fall into a trance.

The same trance that made her {Primal Wrath} got activated when she tried to levitate a rock.

"Patriarch." Hopscotch called with a wry smile. "Should I take cover?"

"You definitely should."

Hopscotch then prompted herself to create a considerable amount of distance between her and the concentrating Bluebell, leaving only Nagan beside Bluebell's side to supervise her in case of an incident happening.

And just as predicted, Bluebell started to emit an inkish raid taint on the outline of her body. Much to Nagan's surprise between the unsurprising course of event, the amount of enmity energy produced by the psycasting rabbit seemed to be greatly lesser than back then.

"Huuaaaaaaaaaa-" As if she was accumulating a destructive energy beam on her hands, she began retracting her palms to the side, before pushing the psycast spell into her frontal direction. "Ha!"

It was indeed a long-range scanning spell, with some notable changes within the spell construction. Firstly, the wave was barely in the form of something 'less physical', in fact, it was quite the 'solid' kind of wave.

"Ah, the trees and animals are blown away," Nagan casually said, as if there was no surprise on what was happening.

Secondly, there wasn't only one wave.

To be precise, there were three of them that were fired after one and another.

The first wave created a vulnerability to the natural structure of the biome, cracking the stone, cutting the grass, and even removing a good chunk of bark from the trees.

The second wave removed all of the vulnerable objects from the general direction. Cracked stone broke into pieces, trees were unrooted, and slain animals were bisected into chunks of flesh and organs.

The third wave was the clean up. Like, it wasn't even necessary at this point, the interior of this biome had already been swept from the ground, crushed, and even vaporized. It was as if a mosquito exterminator had just finished fogging an entire village, only for another fogging to commence immediately after the insect genocide, to the point that it might as well kill the entire village's residents due to the excessive amount of insecticide being thrown around like it was water.

After the splendor of massacring mother nature except for the single standing tall mountain, which had quite a chunk of it chipped from the destructive waves—the encroaching {Primal Wrath} aura on Bluebell immediately disappeared, before she faced Nagan with a large smile that read 'I did it!' with no concern of the environmental destruction that she had just committed whatsoever.

"Yes, you indeed did it, Bluebell." Nagan masked his own amusement with a wide smile. "I'm more proud that you can somehow control your Primal Wrath now, to a great extent."

It was an amazing feat to not let the [Primal Wrath} take over one's conscience when using it. Though in this case, it might have prompted Bluebell to perform what she just did—but to regain her own composure and stop the potential rampage from happening, she had already leaped a great distance in terms of growth and progress.

"Huehue~" Bluebell smiled as widely as she ever did. "I also got the information of the terrain!"

"Yup, you definitely made the terrain easier to see."
