Chapter 50 - Relic From The Wrong Time

"Patriarch, the cube seemed to be oozing the same energy that is filling the entire mountain." Hopscotch stated the obvious, obviously knowing that the patriarch might already know it, it was just so that Bluebell could get some hint on what was going on. "However, it seemed to possess a different kind of energy than what it produced, as if the spilling milk immediately turned into tea when they got out of the glass. It doesn't make any sense."

"It is definitely not supposed to be making any sense," Nagan said as he wryly laughed, facepalming as she scratched his hair, searching for an explanation on what was actually happening. "That cube is called a Voidmetric Tesseract, don't try touching that thing, because the very substance that makes up the cubic existence that you saw right now is not naturally made in this dimension."

"Woah," Bluebell was flabbergasted in awe. She still didn't know what was happening, but she certainly could read that the cubic object that was planted on the crack in front of her is not something to be trifled with. "That object looks ominous, yet also soothing?"

"Oxymoronic, I know," Nagan sighed. "The same as of how in the world that the Voidmetric Tesseract is able to come here."

"Patriarch, what is actually that thing?" Hopscotch asked as his patriarch's panicking behavior unease her.

Seeing that what was happening was the reality of the situation, Nagan proceeded to calm down, whilst still rapid firing his word as his brain is racking for the potential consequences of that object existing in this world, alongside numerous hypothesis of why it was here in the first place, and what it might imply for the future of this wayward world.

"Well, firstly, psycasters! Hopscotch! They are not something that should exist at this point in time." Nagan then deployed his psycast field as he commenced numerous psionic activity to appraise the status of the Voidmetric Tesseract. "This magical technological advancement is found and developed by the Unified Bastion of Humanity, a coalesced bit of human race that was trying to fight against the impending threat of the Apocalypse.

"32 years after psycasting was found, a group of super-intelligent psycasters developed a power plant that bend the conventional law of the universe, all to provide the needed energy to expand and develop energy to harvest exotic materials such as antimatter fuels and many other crazy feat formerly deemed as impossible.

"This ultimate power plant is called Voidmetric Generator." A pulse of energy suddenly countered the attempt of infiltration. Nagan's brain was nearly fried as a result, but just before the damage became permanent, he activated his {Primal Wrath} to make the process of his regeneration instantaneously. As of now, the tainting red could be seen enveloping him, but it was at a much more controlled scale than before. "Tch, this thing is indeed being placed here with malicious intent…"

"What will happen if we let this tesseract be?" Hopscotch inquired as sweats could be seen racing on her face, just by spectating her patriarch.

"Well, to understand that, one must understand what this thing does in the first place." Nagan snickered amidst his controlled fury. "This cubic object is the core catalyst for the Voidmetric Generator, it's basically a dense amalgamation of oxymoronic and paradoxical psycast-formation spell, condensed into an almighty super-object that can put a frown on modern scientist if they saw how it's made.

"To put it simply, this cube is a never ending gate that contain a light-speed interaction of spacetime at a quantum level, that miraculously allows the quantum foam substructure of the universe to break its usual pattern and yield more energy than it consumes—allowing the indefinite generation of energy without the use of fuel or resources."

"Wait, the whole process of energy generation is indeed sketchy and ominous." Combined with the exposure to the enmity energy, Hopscotch also began rapid-firing her words as she panicked more and more alongside her patriarch. "But what makes this cube in particular to be a malignant attempt??"

"Of course, all good things always have a catch," Nagan somehow noticed that Bluebell was in her mindless trance as her drool raced to the ground. That made him feel a little bit dumb to be this hyperactive, lessening his panic and increasing his current focus. "It just turns out, the greater the output of energy produced using this method, the more mad some existence that lives in the void outside of a universe becomes.

"That's the reason why it's named Voidmetric, because it's using a chunk of quantifiable purity within the void as a memory space for the computation of the in-universe interaction to produce the energy. And when the output is increased, so does the scale of the purity used in the void.

"It just so happens that these void residents aren't liking what we're doing with their home, not a single bit. And not to mention, a single one of this voidling is powerful enough to destroy a continent if they were left running amok."

"What does 'purity' mean in this case?" Bluebell questioned, which was a miracle in itself for her to even understand the topic of explanation.

"Well." Nagan was impressed by the development that Bluebell was having, but was too preoccupied multitasking the info dump and dealing with the Voidmetric Tesseract. "The Void is different from the vacuum space of our Universe because it has "nothing" in it, no space, no time, no mass, and no charge. It only has pure energy, And because this type of energy can't be harvested, we quantify it with the term 'purity' as in how much voidenergy is used to accommodate the computation space for the Voidmetric Generator.

"And again, because the output is expanding, so does the purity of the void, which leads to some of its inhabitants being irritated, and entering our universe as a sign of retaliation."

"Wait, so does that mean-"

"Yes!" Nagan shouted desperately after machine-gunning his explanation while he did the deed. "This Voidmetric Tesseract is turned on using the mountain as the vessel, and it's set to increase its output overtime…!

"So far, I have backtracked the history of the tesseract and found out that it had been running for at least twenty years at a slow and steady pace output increase. Fortunately and unfortunately, you can give it another month and this wayward world will be invaded by the voidlings!

"I'm currently trying to tamper with the unbelievably complex psionic wires that made the Voidmetric Tesseract to continuously increase its production output. And I would really like to turn off this thing completely if it's possible."

The intensity of the room was denser than any material made naturally on Earth.

A single mistake might not be costing the whole mountain and everything inside it, thanks to the ingenious design that allowed the Voidmetric Tesseract to contain all of its destructive excess energy to be thrown into the void.

That was assuming that the tesseract was the same thing that humanity developed in the first timeline.

As such, a solid minute of pure nerve-wracking moments had passed.

Nagan was already on the point where it only needed a little bit more prodding of the inner mechanism of the tesseract, before he could stop the energy output from increasing overtime.

But before he was able to turn the switch, malignant tendrils emerged from the Voidmetric Tesseract. Purplish void, and coated with ineffable matters that were floating and dispersing from every inch of its concept, as if it had crash landed into this reality from another whole dimension.

And before anyone could even react, one of the tendrils launched its pointy end toward Nagan's chest—or precisely, his soul, directly attacking his entire being.

"Patriarch!"

Hopscotch instinctively jumped closer to his Patriarch's side. But before she even reached the protruding otherworldly stalk, Bluebell had already beaten her as she hurled his wrath-coated shovel onto the tendril.

The intent to sever and free her patriarch from the clutch of the otherworldly stalk was strong enough that Bluebell's {Primal Wrath} allowed her to interact with an other-dimensional existence, while also hurting whatever was beyond the cube of void in the process.

"Huwaaaa! Patriarch!" Bluebell cried after she used all of her enmity energy against the other-dimensional enemy.

"I'm okay." Nagan sluggishly stumbled to his knee, before fueling his tainting red once more to slowly revert the damage done to his soul. "We should get out of here, first and foremost."

Both of the usalians helped their patriarch to walk and exit the tesseract room.

Only for them to notice that there was nothing beyond the room.

It was an empty void.

No time and space existed within this void, neither does the concept of temperature.

It was a complete and utter void where nothing remained.

"Tch, we're too late." Nagan gasped as he tried maintaining his dissipating consciousness from living his body. "Whoever put that tesseract here really doesn't want their stuff to be tampered."

"What should we do, Patriarch!?" A terrified expression was sculpted on Hopscotch's face. "And more importantly, what was that thing that was attacking you!? Is that the voidling you're talking about!?"

"That's not a voidling…"

In this moment, Nagan attempted to connect with all of the people that he had soul linked.

None of the connections were reached. Even his own wife, Owen, whose soul link was amplified by the solstinite ring.

They were completely isolated on a conceptual level.

There was nothing outside this room.

There was nothing but the absence of light and the void.

A weird whirring noise from the center of the room prompted Nagan, Bluebell, and Hopscotch to look back as they took a defensive stance in case that there was another attack.

But instead of those other dimensional tendrils, what greeted them instead was a holographic existence of a humanoid entity coated by the same darkness that was encroaching the void outside of this room. The only notifiable feature of this figure was the single red eye that filled the entirety of its face.

"This message is backed by an all-translating psionic link. If neither of you who reside in this place possess the same language of my kind, it will be automatically interpreted. This is a pre-recorded message. Thus my existence within the point of time and space relative to you, will be not related by any means."

The trio couldn't do anything but hear the explanation of the mysterious entity. Bluebell and Hopscotch especially, were putting their guard up the most to protect their Patriarch as he stabilized his soul.

"This message will only be triggered if the malevolent existence inside the exotic object is interacting with the world relative to where this damned cube landed. You might be wondering who I am, but that information is not important.

"Because the time is ticking. Just know that, the same as you, this cursed object sent into our world before it summoned the masters of reality that reside within our mortal comprehension.

"That aside, the moment this message is shown to you, you have probably already been isolated from the dimension you originally came from. There was no way out, because even at this moment, that 'bastard' is watching.

"You will be forced to encounter that abominable thing, and only by defeating it, you're able to exit from its clutch. That is, according to our theoretical hypothesis.

"And if you can't defeat it, it will exit your world and come to the next." The one eyed figure raised his gaze, as if it was contemplating in hopeful despair. "We tried to defeat it, but we failed, and we didn't even know what that 'bastard' did to our world after we're gone from this world.

"Not to mention, I might not be the only one who failed to face that abominable existence. Who knows how many countless worlds and innocent lives that had been brought into a lonely end by this cursed object…

"Regardless, time has chosen its vessel. You will immediately be teleported to where that 'bastard' resides. If you failed to kill it, who knows how many more victims that will be consumed by utter darkness in the future.

"And alas, the time has come." The entity looked down as it closed its eyes, as if it was sighing. "I didn't manage to put anything useful for you to fight that 'bastard', as we ourselves couldn't scratch any meaningful dent to it…

"We shall wish you the best, for the gloomy cosmos couldn't be more maddening than what you will face in this instance."

Immediately after that, the isolated world inside the void went dark.

It was warm.

Yet cold.

It was somber.

Yet cold

It was maddeningly empty and sober.

For there was no direction nor night, no daytime nor might.

But slow and surely, the new world was revealed like an opening curtain. Alongside its majestic reveal was a grand ballad of instruments so visceral and so mind-breaking. Like millions of creepy spiders crawling inside one ear to exit on another ear, the cathartic symphony was more maddening than the creation of the universe

[Daemon Sultan Azathot, bubbles in confusion~]

It was ravishingly mad like the smallest tint of quasar that spewed its organs for the universe to eat.

[Center of the universe, sprouting foul protrusions~]

When the end of reality neared its tea time with the almighty horns, the soul devouring flute was played vicariously by the many-formed virtuoso.

[Muffled madd'ning beating drums, hellish flutes a-playing~]

There was none other than the vast empty platform of celestial white, right beneath the open cosmos where the trace of the dreamer was dancing.

[Round him dance the Other Gods, voiceless, mindless swaying~]

There was no oxygen, only an infinite amount of space cluttered by stars and planets, while all spotlights were directed toward the astronomical moon-like entity with its gaze looming like a heavenly sultan.

Just as though Bluebell and Hopscotch felt crumbling physically and spiritually from the pressure of the vacuum, both of them were soul-connected to Nagan's already damaged soul. He did this so that his {Primal Wrath} also influenced both of them, preventing everyone from dying immediately the moment they arrived into this maddening realm.

"I see, so we will be fighting that, ahahaha, AHAHAHAHAHA!"

"This somber sadness, what must we do but to KILL THAT MOON IN ORDER TO APPEASE IT!" Bluebell could be seen being corrupted by the seeping madness that was occupying the entirety of this ineffable realm. "MURDER IT AND TORN IT ASUNDER UNTIL NOTHING REMAINS!!"

Meanwhile, within the wayward world, one of the working usalian saw that space was opening a rift in the sky.

"Call the Patriarch!"

"I can't! Can anyone call him?"

"Everyone!" Hoppington appeared to disperse the panicking crowd, "I urged all of the noncombatants to retreat into the homeworld. Notify the Queen of this development, we must stand our ground until-"

A piece of unknown exo-spear was thrown from afar with great power and accuracy, impaling Hoppington on the head.
