Chapter 20 - Preparation For The Holiday

One word of mention for the holiday was enough to set the Unnamed Kingdom into commotion. As the early dusk of the wayward world accompanied the hurried usalians that went back and forth to gather every material needed to be sent to the workshop.

"This rock looks like glass."

"What if we carve it into diamond and put the water from the glowy river into it?"

"Make a way, make a way!"

""Heave ho! Heave ho!""

A large curved violet tree has been erected in the middle of the Unnamed Kingdom. Vine-made ropes were attached from building to building as various wooden and mineral ornaments adorned with flowers and leaves were showcased to crowd the roof and inbetween.

"Is that what I think it is?"

"Skytalon turkey!"

"Skytalon isn't a turkey though."

The kitchen area was brimming with smoke and seasoned fire. The preserved meat stored within the cold underground storage were brought to the surface to be immediately processed, meanwhile all kinds of fruits were already stacked to make a tower, alongside a large wooden bowl containing the most refreshing figwalker's juice.

"AAAH! WHAT IS THAT!?

Just as the preparation ensued, a lone skytalon decided to harass the usalians that were working on the outpost. However, it was quickly dealt by the vanguards, as Karasaki showcased the spoil of the fight by raising the impaled body of the skytalon on her pole skyhigh for everyone to see.

"Everyone! More meat!"

""More meat!!""

"Tonight, we will feast!"

""Tonight we'll feast!!""

The current state of the usalian fighting prowess was nothing to scoff at—especially their drive to work, where one of them could be compared to the productivity of five adult humans. They walk fast, they could carry two times their weight at the least, and they only need four hours of sleep to be fully rejuvenated for the day, as some of them could gain the same benefit with only sleeping for an half hour.

Despite their superpower, their minds were still that of a kid. A mature kid to say the least, considering that they possessed the intellect of an adult man with some of them having the wisdom of a college student, thanks to their inherited 'memory tree' that they could access and gain every knowledge that the history of humanity had offered.

Which really further emphasizes the hypothetical amount of time that their Queen invested in the human race.

"I must admit, your hands are more skilled than mine, Patriarch." An usalian with a bandana could be seen grinning with excitement. "What's the story behind it?"

As one of the appointed as the specialized crafter of the logistic team, Juani values nothing more than the expertise for creating an art, which propel her to become one of the best woodcarvers in the workshop.

"It's more or less due to having more experience, nothing more and nothing less." Nagan hummed as he carved the wooden trinket with such agility and precision, that even a factory machine was jealous of him. "Repetition and mindset plays an important role, so it doesn't necessarily mean that one eventful day is enough to turn you into a master."

The workshop beside the forgery, despite only having three usalians and a single human working inside, appeared to be crowded with how many other usalian entered and exited the facility.

Aside from the trinkets, Nagan was also carving detailed wooden pendants, using a singular thin yet firm vine-like fur of the figwalker as the necklace's cord.

"What if we attach a portable crossbow on this necklace?" said an usalian with the name of Droste, curiously fiddling with a piece from a pile of pendants.

"Why not just make a separate handheld crossbow?" Juani snickered.

"Who said that it will be handheld?"

"Your perception on what is 'portable' needs to be reseted."

As the day progressed, more and more usalian began to delve deep into the xmas-related memory lines.

"Deck the halls with meat and poultries~!"

""Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la, la, la~""

"So you're saying that, we're actually celebrating the birthday of this one man who died for our sins?"

"He must be happy having his birthday celebrated by half the people on Earth every year, huh."

"We should really harvest more seripium to make socks…"

"We don't have a red dye to match the theme, though."

"Easy, just use the blood of the huffalos."

"Seeing all of that steaming food on display makes me hungry."

"Hi Hungry, I'm Pippin."

"She didn't even say the word!"

With the Xmas tree adorned and all set, all that was left to do was to wait for midnight.

But just as the usalians started to gather at the center of the kingdom, the sound of the whirring of space could be heard. The familiar three sided portal apparition arrived in front of the Xmas tree, making the whole scenery both surreal and ravishing.

Everyone anticipated their one and only Queen of the kingdom, dashing in with her brilliance and motherly smile, wearing her usual coat and mature allure.

"Ho, ho, ho, ho~!"

Instead, what was coming out of the portal was Santa!

"Wait, who is that?"

"SANTA IS REAAAAALLL!!"

"I can't believe it, Santa came!"

"Aren't Santa supposed to be fat?"

It was Owen wearing a white fur trimmed red jacket and pants with a broad buckled belt, a matching hat, and black boots, laughing like the bringer of joy on late december as she rocks a fake mustache. And just like the old-fashioned santa, she was dragging a large sack of red filled with many goodies to be given as presents.

"Have you been a good kid~?"

"Me! Me!"

"I'M A GOOD KID!"

"MEEEEEEEEE!!"

"You all know that Santa is just our Queen in a Santa suit?" Hopscotch commented.

Charles then approached the tall usalian and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hush, don't break their dreams."
