"Patriarch, can I connect to your soul link?"
"Hahaha, you're already speaking in the soul link, Bluebell."
"Oooooh, right. Can we seek an audience with you? One of us has something we want to tell you."
"Sure, you can find me in the north."
As the afternoon hue began to meld into orange and blue, the wind followed three usalians in their track.
"Do we really need to run to get there?" Clover sheepishly said as she swung from tree to tree with her prehensile tail. "Maybe we can, you know, walk?"
"Every second you walk is a second you aren't running," Immortal Dragon Overlord answered. "Besides, you're the one who has it easy with that extra limb of yours!"
"Uhm, firstly, it's a prehensile tail connected to my spinal structure. Secondly, swinging from tree to tree still took quite a lot of energy from my body."
"Then why not just run on the ground?"
"Noo, it's more tiring!"
"Then you're just proving my point!"
"Both of you are such good friends," Bluebell commented with a cozy expression.
After a ten minute journey, they finally arrived at the site where their patriarch was supposed to be. The place was not pristine to say the least, as numerous trees fell to the ground together with burn marks that were scattered around the place.
The more they proceeded into the center, the more messed the sight became. Numerous corpses from unknown beasts alongside the known ones were everywhere. The wounds that those corpses possessed weren't even something that anything in this world could inflict.
Just in the middle of it all, was a humanoid figure covered in burning gold shade, sitting in a lotus position on the top of a mountain made by the beasts that he had slain.
Noticing his three adorable usalian approaching, Nagan exited his trance and jumped out from his position. His uniform was tattered as usual. He could also be seen having more tone on his muscles than before.
"Huh, I didn't expect that there would be three of you."
"Patriarch! What was that golden aura we saw!?" Immortal Dragon Overlord jumped with incitement with her ears perked up.
Clover didn't really know anything outside of the fact that her Patriarch is doing some crazy thing like usual, so she didn't want to speak much.
Meanwhile, Bluebell was having a zero-thought trance like usual, letting a drool fall from the edge of her mouth.
"Say, do you believe me if I say that I'm a former godly being that was able to light the whole night with just a snap of my finger?" Nagan said in a playful tone.
"Woah!!"
"Now, I'm currently trying to regain that strength."
"WOAAAAH!!" Immortal Dragon Overlord's eyes sparkled more and more every second Nagan uttered a new word.
"I'll teach you somewhere in the future."
Immortal Dragon Overlord was immediately inflicted with an excitement overload, that her mind couldn't process what was happening anymore.
"Ahaha, alright, so what do you want to say to me?"
Clover scratched the back of her neck, looking at her fallen friend rather pitifully. "Well, it's actually Immortal Dragon Overlord who has something to say."
After Immortal Dragon Overlord came into consciousness again, the meeting ensued.
"Patriarch!"
"Yes, Ido!"
"According to the human calendar, today is the 24th of December. Which means that tomorrow is Xmas!" Immortal Dragon Overlord took a deep breath. "It will be our Unnamed Kingdom's first Xmas!"
"Xmas, huh."
Nagan's memories of Xmas day weren't that much to talk about.
Back before he regressed into the current timeline, he didn't really care much about these yearly holidays, even though the new force of humanity always makes sure that every celebration that the human race had before the apocalypse must be preserved and continued at all costs.
Which reminded him at that one time.
"You don't look cheerful today, buddy."
Greeting him was a man with cheery radiance and personality, a mature and respectable leader and hope of humanity. Bearing the name of Elos Rainfield, he approached the grumpy Nagan with a drink on both hands.
"Something that I can help you with, Mr. Deusah?" Nagan replied with a sour snicker.
"The spirit of christmas doesn't like to see you frown your day out, Mr. I Hate Everything. Here, grab a drink."
"I see that the R&D has got their hands on brewing alcohol again."
"Today is a reminder that every one of us needs to become a human once in a while. I have already told you this before, aren't I?"
"Every year."
"So why not join us? Tetra is currently trying to stack a glass tower before the alcohol knocks her out."
A loud cheer could be heard erupting in the background, alongside a feminine obnoxious laughter.
"I'll pass."
"Like the usual, huh."
"You should be focusing on your girlfriend, she seemed to be on the verge of crying there."
"She's a crying drinker, just let her be."
"You know that Christmas isn't the day where you waste yourself, right?"
"Eh, same thing." Elos chugged all of the liquid on the glass in one go. "Regardless of the preserved meaning, everyone is united under the same joy and jingle, a reminder that we still exist on this messed up planet.
"There are people out there who wear a smile so that everyone around them can smile knowing that there is still hope for their situation. Sometimes, they huddle together in front of the same campfire to stay warm. But as you know best, the warmth of a fire alone isn't enough.
"Each of us are sinners who decide to exist no matter the circumstance that the world gave us, a self pat on the back for our own selfish reason should be enough to keep everyone from losing all meaning that they knit for themselves.
"So, say, Nagan, what kind of holiday do you want to knit for everyone to stay warm under the sunless sky?"
Maybe it was the right thing to do this time.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Nagan picked up the mindless Bluebell onto his shoulder. "Let's go to the workshop to prepare ourselves some trinkets and presents."
"Let's goooo!"
