Hours Later
After sharing a kiss, Naruto watched Amy smile at him before the elevator closed and she rode down to get home,
Walking to his table Naruto paused as he was about to clean up when his phone rung, looking at the television he saw the photo of his personal assistant and friend,
"Answer." Naruto said watching as the call was picked up, "You're supposed to be on vacation."
"Iris said you got an invite to Wells Accelerator. Are you not going?"
"Nope " Naruto said sitting down,
"It would be good PR for you and the company."
"I don't want the company associated with S.T.A.R. Labs." Naruto said
"People will say you're jealous that Wells was the one to revolutionize energy."
"That's more Tony's thing." Naruto shrugged before the news came on and he raised an eyebrow, as his call dropped.
"Wait! We are now being told to evacuate the facility! The storm may have caused a malfunction to the primary cooling system. Officials are now trying to shut down the Particle Accelerator, but so far have been unable to regain control of the syste-"
Naruto looked up when the power suddenly went out, looking out his window toward S.T.A.R Labs, Naruto saw a giant explosion, as a bright orange light filled the sky, as a shockwave originating from the lab swept through the city and killed the power all throughout the city.
"Dumbass." Naruto narrowed his eyes before he ran to a room where he kept all his chemicals from the small lab he kept in the penthouse and he was shocked to see them floating like that night,
Naruto was rooted in place before a lightning bolt burst through the window and slammed into him sending him flying across the room and laid unconscious as red electricity crawled up his cheek into his brains thunder boomed overhead a silhouette of Infinity was seen watching Naruto,
Her son was a blank slate, capable of going any direction, she felt his body changing and resolved herself to keep watch.
Inside Naruto's body, every nerve cell, atom, and fiber of his body began to pulse with electricity and his body jerked as yellow electricity coursed through him, the yellow lightning became to turn colors as he seized on the floor for hours before turning white,
The sun rose and Naruto's eyes snapped open glowing, shaking his head as glass from shattered containers fell off him, Naruto got up, and leaned on the wall before he walked to the window looking at the wall,
"Fuck." He said looking at all the glass and scattered papers everywhere, looking at his body, "How the hell am I not dead?" He asked
Walking to the dustpan and broom, Naruto paused looking out the window seeing destroyed buildings and S.T.A.R. Labs room had a hole in it, Naruto turned around not seeing the slow-moving bird fly into view by the window and he jogged to the broom only to feel himself accelerate,
White lightning zoomed all around the penthouse before the widow shattered as Naruto yelling fell toward a Central Park and he gritted his teeth and tried to land on his feet but soon as he landed he zoomed off again,
The street ruptured behind him, as Naruto tried numerous times to stop but the acceleration carried him forward and as he kept running Naruto ran home and onto his property and braced himself as he slammed into a tree and off into another,
Naruto crashed through 5 trees and laid there groaning sitting up he saw minor scratches on his body steam and vanish,
Getting up Naruto walked to his house and saw Mi-Jeong and Do Na-Shin in the kitchen, seeing the shocked expressions of his personal assistant and lead engineer, "So um," before he noticed his hand vibrating
"What the hell was that?" Mi-Jeong asked putting her phone down, as he raised his vibrating hand
"I have no idea." Naruto said wide-eyed, as his hand stopped vibrating, "But I like it."
"Kurama prepare the medbay." Mi-Jeong said
Naruto sat down and took off his shoes, the soles all but gone, "Kurama call Iris." He said grabbing the house phone, and walking to the med bay,
Iris picked up frantic and Naruto had to calm her down before he called Joe. then his other friends who lived in New York.
After having his body scanned Naruto frowned seeing the 3D holographic deep scan of his body, "All chemical, cellular and neural processes, as well as brain activity, are far faster than normal. Which explains the freakish speed and efficiency of physical healing glucose levels are low so my metabolism has been enhanced as well." Naruto said before he frowned as alerts of foreign energy were detected. "Dark matter?"
"How the hell did you come into contact with dark matter?" Do Na Shin asked
"Analysis completed of the failed S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator launch. As you predicted the particle accelerator went online, before the electron volts became unmeasurable, the ring popped, energy from that detonation was thrown into the sky,"
"And that, in turn, seeded a storm cloud that created a lightning bolt that struck me." Naruto finished
"Correct. My scan detected a dimensional barrier rupturing, unleashing unknown energies into the world, anti-matter, dark energy, - X-element. I've mapped dispersion throughout and around New York but there is no way of knowing exactly what or who was exposed."
"Thank you Harrison." Naruto said lifting his hand, watching white lightning flicker along it
"This guy nearly destroys the city and you're thanking him?" Mi-Jeong asked
"I just ran 59 miles in 4 seconds. I'm fast, and if I can learn the ins and outs of this speed thing I can get faster and find the man who took my parents from us. I'll make him pay." Naruto said, causing the women to nod, "Kurama get ready to overhaul the gym and start a profile. Mi, I want you to call Wally and make sure he's keeping a careful eye on the company's relief efforts. After that Kurama will scan your body."
"Why?"
"Everyone in New York could've been affected by the dark matter-wave. If you have abilities or the potential to gain abilities then we need to know." Naruto said
Mi-Jeong nodded before she left Do Na Shi with Naruto, who had Kurama scan her body "'What about me?"
"You're going to help me." Naruto said getting a nod from the woman
"Any particular name for the profile?" Kurama asked
"Bolt." Naruto said smiling proud of himself
"Lame." Kurama said causing Naruto to deflate,
"Then name it something speed-related." Naruto said before he walked to a table and placed his hand in the air above it before 3D holograms of inventions appeared, "I'm also going to need a high-speed treadmill. Run through some schematics while Do Na Shin and I head to Infinity Speedway. Call Angela and have her meet us down there."
Naruto turned to the scan of Do Na Shin and saw dark matter was detected within her body, "Do you feel any different?" He asked
"No, I feel fine." Do Na Shin said
Naruto nodded trusting her,
Infinity Speedway
Infinity Speedway was a private racetrack where Naruto kept his cars, and he'd sometimes race with his friends,
Currently, Naruto was wearing his training gear and stretching, with a device strapped to his chest before his personal doctor walked over with a tablet.
"If this is a joke Naruto, I will schedule you for a colonoscopy." Angela Zigler said
"That's unnecessary," Naruto replied
"Here." Olivia Colomar, one of the best hackers in the world, walked over and handed Naruto some earbuds, "Na-Shin said these should protect you from sonic booms."
Naruto nodded, before he put them in his ears and the girls walked off, Na-Shin, a world-renowned engineer, calibrated the speedometer and watched Naruto as Angela and Olivia walked into the viewer box, "I can't believe we're going through with this." Angela said
"Far as pranks go, this one is lousy." Olivia agreed,
"It's not a prank." Na-Shin said before she nodded to Naruto who took his position at the starting line,
The lights went from red to yellow then to green and Naruto took off a shockwave rumbled and shattered the window, causing the 3 women to look at the cameras of the red dot that was Naruto zipping around the track,
Naruto smiled as he ran around the track, taking wide turns and slamming into the wall, causing him to grunt as he tried to get better control of his body, yet he continued to accelerate
"He just went supersonic." Olivia said as Angela monitored his vitals,
"How is this possible?" Angela asked herself
Naruto coming on the finish line began to slow down and slid sloppily slid to a stop with a stumble
Looking back Naruto smiled before Angela ran outside grabbed his hand and forced him to her medical office for a full evaluation,
After getting checked out, Naruto went to get some tools and was on his way to his car when a reporter walked up to him, "Mr. Uzumaki comments on the failed S.T.A.R. Labs presentation?"
"I mean, it's exactly what I said would happen, and why Dr. Wells was terminated. The idea of a particle accelerator is amazing, but you don't run before you can crawl. Just because I'm young doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about. The 17 doctorates I have are proof of that. Dr. Wells, wish you a speedy recovery."
Naruto got into his car and left
9 Months Later
It's been a few months since S.T.A.R. Lab's public failure, Uzumaki Enterprises had seized everything although some inventions were mission,
Dr. Wells, confined to a wheelchair, had been banned from the building and Naruto saw that it was demolished much to public approval. Wells was a public pariah and didn't show his face anymore.
Naruto had kept business booming, along with training and learning the ins and outs of super speed, and the electricity that his body gave off as he ran. He had to attend a funeral because Joe's partner died the night of the accelerator explosion and had to anxiously await news as Tony had been kidnapped by terrorists. Luckily the man had managed to escape after months of captivity and he hadn't been seen much since he shut down the weapons division in his company.
Currently, Naruto and Iris were walking in Times Square, "Dad's new partner asked me out."
"Bad idea." Naruto said sipping his milkshake
"I know. The guy seems like a douche."
Naruto chuckled, "So Junior journalists. How're you gonna get noticed?" He asked
"Well, I just graduated so my best bet is to start a blog."
"About what?" Naruto asked
"Sure I'll think of something." Iris said
"I say make it anonymous. Don't want the crazies coming to find you."
"I know." Iris said before they looked up when the door to the back exploded causing everyone to shot, as a freak storm came from out the bank,
"What in the hell?" Naruto asked before they saw people began to take pictures of Clyde Mardon who hopped into his Mustang and speed off
Naruto watched as fog covered the city Mardon's escape,
Naruto's Estate
After giving his statement, Naruto rushed home, and was in his lab, "I found one, kurama. Clyde Mardon. Hack into CCTV cams and find where he's hold up at." Naruto said walking to the mannequin and taking off the friction proof suit. Putting the suit on, Naruto walked to the console as Angela, Olivia, Mi-Jeong, and Na-Shin entered,
Naruto put an earbud in, "Go." Na-Shin said
Naruto nodded and zipped away,
Everyone in the room had a relationship with Fred Chyre through Joe West, and his murderer was still alive so they were highly motivated to catch him,
Naruto raced through the city checking all the Mardon brother's old hideouts, "I re-tasked our satellites to track meteorological abnormalities over New York. We just got a ping. Atmospheric pressure dropped 20 millibars in a matter of seconds. I've tracked it to a home just west of the city."
Naruto switched directions and raced away.
With Joe
Joe and Eddie pulled up to the farm, and got out of the car, "I'm not saying Mardon is alive, but if he was, this is the last place he and his brother hid out. Let's go."
Joe and Eddie made their way toward the house, and hearing noise the two pulled their weapons and walked around back quietly to see Clyde sitting in front of his car, "Mardon? On your feet. Hands on your head." Joe ordered aiming his pistol
"You got me." Clyde smirked, dropping his socket wrench but not moving as Eddie motioned for Joe to go ahead as Joe put up his gun and got his cuffs "The night of the storm, after S.T.A.R. Labs blew. After our plane went down, and I woke up on the ground, alive. When I saw what I could do, I understood. I am God."
"Shut the hell up!" Joe said, walking up as Mardon stood up with his arms raised "Turn around."
Clyde with a smirk turned around as Eddie got closer before Joe noticed the wind picking up before Clyde swung his arms and he and Eddie were thrown back with Eddie hitting his head and getting knocked unconscious
"You think your guns can stop God?!"
"Why in the hell would God need to rob banks?" Joe asked in return over the roaring wind
"You're right. I've been thinking too small." Clyde said before he raised his hands and formed a tornado
Joe shocked grabbed his unconscious partner and hurried around the house toward his car when the twister burst through the house, and the force threw Joe and Eddie into the side of the squad car,
Joe looked on in shock as the twister began to move toward him, when he looked up and saw a piece of debris flying at him, putting his arms up to protect himself he didn't see Naruto arrive and kick the debris in midair before he landed
Joe looked up, staring at Naruto in shock before Naruto rushed forward through the twister and grabbed Clyde by the face and lifted him up and slammed him into the ground causing the twister to disperse
Clyde grunted looking into the glaring face of the billionaire before he had giant chunks of hail fall and Naruto released him flipping back before Clyde got up holding his throat and he waved his hands at Naruto,
Lightning bolts struck the ground as Naruto dodged before he ran toward Clyde again who swiped his hands and flames blocked him and Naruto who skidded to a stop as Clyde raised his gun waiting for Naruto before he was shot twice in the back causing him to fall, as Naruto put out the flames, and Joe walked up to him putting down his gun,
Joe looked him up and down, "Thanks." Naruto said
Joe nodded, and before he could speak, they heard Eddie groaning and Joe turned to look before a gust of wind blew past him, and he looked to see Naruto gone.
Naruto's Home
Naruto came to a smooth stop before the girls, "Well?"
"Should probably look into something to hide my identity." Naruto said getting a nod from the girls
Next Day, NYPD
Joe shook hands with his superiors who needed his statement about firing his weapon, as they left he began to pick up his things when the door opened and he smiled at the man that walked in, "Phil Coulson." He said
"Joe West." Phil smiled before they hugged
"How is Lucille?"
"Oh she's perfect. You know Director Fury can get you a position back in SHIELD."
"Wouldn't feel right. When Minato and I got out we promised each other no matter what we wouldn't go back in." Joe said
Phil nodded before he handed Joe a folder, Joe opened it to see Clyde Mardon creating a storm in the bank, "We have reason to believe that when S.T.A.R. Labs exploded it affected the citizens of New York. People with gifts have been spotted more and more in the last few months. We've been assured that the ones we caught weren't mutants."
"You're just locking people up because they gained powers?" Joe asked with a frown,
"Just the ones who've broken the law I assure you. Director Fury doesn't trust anyone else but you to keep watch over this. Can you do it?"
"I'm a cop. I arrest criminals, powers or no powers." Joe said getting a nod from Phil, "But where exactly do I lock super-criminals up?"
"We put in an order to Uzumaki Enterprises for power suppression tech. A prison we're calling Blackgate has been constructed and we're just waiting on them with the new tech."
Joe nodded, "I'll go see where they are with that." Joe said getting a nod before he and Phil shook hands again, "Good luck with Stark."
"Ugh." Phil groaned leaving as Joe chuckled before frowning before he got his things and walked out to see Tony Stark on the news, announcing that he was Iron Man.
