**Olivia's POV**
My eyes fluttered open, but I suddenly closed it because of the light that radiated through the window. After adjusting to the light, I fluttered my eyes open and gasped at where I was— in the dungeon.
What in the world am I doing in the dungeon?
The last thing I remembered was being dragged by the guards and calling the Alpha for help. They might think I'm mute, but I'm not completely mute. There are some voices I can still form, and it works when I'm in desperate need of help.
I looked around and facepalmed. Did he really bring me to the dungeon? When I called, and he turned and walked towards me, I thought he was bringing me to stay with him, but no, he put me in the dungeon.
I sighed as the last hope I had in me vanished completely. It would be better if I stopped putting my hopes high like this.
I looked around the dungeon and saw diverse kinds of slaves. Some were old men while others, children. The ones that were older than me had been taken by the other masters and were kept away from us, while the younger ones remained. I looked to my right and saw a woman, who was probably in her 30s shedding tears in a corner. My heart ached for her. It was heartbreaking seeing this kind of woman who was used for sexual purposes crying. I wanted to comfort her, but I couldn't, and it brought tears to my eyes.
I don't want to stay in a place like this. Most of the people here were used as sexual slaves, and I wasn't ready to be one of them. Being a sexual slave wasn't something anyone would want. I'm among those that do not want it and hate it so much.
The next thing that came to my mind was how to escape from this hellhole. I used my eyes to scan the room like a spy and saw a door leading out of the place.
This should do. If I'm careful enough, I will be out of here before I know it.
I scrambled to my feet as quietly as possible, careful not to make a sound and tiptoe towards the door, praying vehemently not to be caught, but it seemed luck wasn't on my side because I saw a few shadows I assumed to be the guards. I decided to try my luck and still push through with this.
I could recall seeing where the guards kept the key after locking the cell and quietly carried it.
"What do you think you're doing?" A young girl, who had been kept there too, asked and I shook my head. It's not like she would understand if I demonstrated for her and if by any chance I tried to speak even when I couldn't, they would know I'm mute and use that against me, so I simply shook my head and continued what I was doing.
I smiled when I was able to get the keys. I quickly started unlocking the door and when I opened it and wanted to step out, the guards caught me.
"You! What the hell do you think you're doing?" One of them asked and I gasped.
He approached me and I took steps back. He continued following me until my back hit the wall.
"You're so stubborn, aren't you? Where were they going?" He poked my head and I winced in pain.
I frowned when he continued to poke my head and glared at him.
"Lower your eyes!" He ordered and was about to hit me when the second guard spoke into his ear. He brought his hand down, throwing a deadly look my way.
"And oh, she's a mute, so she can't respond to whatever you're saying at the moment." The second guard explained and I sighed.
"No wonder, she acts like a disabled." The first one said, and my frown deepened.
How dare they look down on me like that? My glare hardened, but they said nothing and held my hand, dragging me out of the dungeon. I struggled with them to let me go, but they didn't as their grip became tighter.
I felt a sudden feeling of fear rush through me as they held me. What were they going to do to me? I continued to struggle with them, but my struggles stopped when I noticed that they were taking me to the throne room. I suddenly felt a pang of hope hit me. Maybe the Alpha has changed his mind and wants me back.
The door opened, and the guards threw me in, bowed to the Alpha and left, but not without glaring at me. I stood to my feet and looked up to see Alpha Devon seated on his throne with a glass of wine in his hand. My eyes met his, and I shuddered under his icy look.
"It's nice that you're alive, Olivia," He drawled, and I furrowed my eyebrows. Was I supposed to die? He studied me for a while, still sipping his wine. I bowed my head and waited for whatever he was going to tell me.
"Don't get your hopes up, mute. Put yourself together because I know exactly what's going on in your mind right now and trust me when I say that's never going to happen," He frowned and I sighed. My hopes were dashed again. "Since you're mute, I'm not really going to waste my time with you. The only thing I'm grateful to the moon goddess for is that you can hear me and so, I wouldn't have to stress myself while talking to you today," He paused and moved closer than bent to look into my eyes. "You're the only one who isn't affected by the kind of power I have, and I think it's because we're mates," I facepalmed.
"So here is something you need to know and the earlier you stick it in your head and make meaningful sense with it, the better for you." He stood up and walked up to me.
"Instead of being my mate, you're going to become my personal maid." He smirked and I gasped.
