Chapter 7 - BUY BUY BUY

Chapter 7: BUY BUY BUY

Am I being timed? What should I do? What should I buy?

(I'm kidding, you don't have nearly enough money to buy the things you need. At this rate you'll only be able to buy a language up to level 6.)

I'm really starting to regret asking this dude for guidance, so each knowledge level cost 20 levels? Isn't that expensive? (You said I could use other methods of payment right? Like what?)

(Well a lot of things, but you don't really have the time to worry about that right now. You Are currently at level 118 so that's a level 5 language skill.)

Crap that's right, I need to buy one and see what happens.

[Demon Shop Open]

Languages

Grove kingdom

Gobo Empire

Raya Empire

United Dream Environment

Ok, Grove kingdom it is. I'll start at level one to see what happens.

[DING YOU GOT MAIL!]

(This is so strange, but why is nothing happening? I still can't understand a word anyone is saying. Hello? Hello?) I think he's gone. Ok I guess I'm figuring this out the hard way.

Let's click on the mail section and see what happens… Is this? Ok I think I get it, I can hold onto purchases, like an item box. Now it becomes easier to buy the other levels of the language skill. Now, it's time to buy.

Once I'm done I click on the learn button, after a few minutes I experience a slight headache and I lift myself slightly from my newfound mothers boob trying to figure out what everyone is saying… I will never get used to this…

Thank god, Pilfer distracted me otherwise I'd probably starve to death. I mean I am 10 minutes old now. After looking around I start to hear familiar words like king, heartbreaker… and execution? Am I going to be executed, and I'm gonna be a heartbreaker? Well all right… wait no let's get back to the execution part.

I'm going to upgrade this thing now but right before that I look back at my status screen and notice that my level is now pretty low. Is there anything else I can buy? I quickly browse through the store and notice something.

'These things are insanely expensive!' The quantity is impressive but they are mostly demon related things. I wonder if there's a way to fix that in the future. For now let's try buying something before I'm broke. Hmm, it seems the only things I can afford are some seeds and a couple of eggs. Screw it.

[CONGRATULATIONS]

You have found the produce section!

What?! Did I win something?! After a few minutes of nothing happening I realize I may have been duped.

Ok moving on. I look into the mail section and look at the eggs and seeds for a solid minute hoping something would happen until I give up and attempt level 2 of the Grove language. After experiencing another headache for a minute I click on level 3, 4 and eventually 5. Now my head feels like it's going to explode but at least now I can understand whole sentences. Hopefully they don't start using big words.

I look around the area and I'm still not able to see anything. Am I blind or something? Wait, didn't I read an article somewhere about babies having bad vision for the first few weeks? I hope that's it, otherwise I'll have to find a way to buy glasses in the shop.

Is it cute if a baby wears glasses made out of human bones? Probably, babies are pretty cute.

"Oh god, do all babies look like that when they're first born?"

What the F*** did you just say to me?! Who even are you? Where are you?

"Ahh I think he's mad, look at his little wrinkles."

Wrinkles? I thought I was a baby? Not 90! Am I ugly? No stay focused! I need to figure out what to do from here. Learn about my environment and figure out more about this place.

"So, are you planning to have your own baby soon? You said prince James was a real heartbreaker right?"

I thought I was the heartbreaker... That's it, I'm going to sleep.

Two months go by and I'm finally able to see anything about a foot away. So I call that a win, but as for understanding the people around me things aren't as simple. I can understand ⅔ of what they say but more culture related things are a bit more complicated.

However I've noticed that in my spare time, one of my mothers maids whose name I can't remember has constantly tried to teach me the language. This is actually incredibly useful as my language level has finally hit level 6. I wish I knew I could just, I don't know… LEARN. I would've bought more eggs if I had known.

Mom seems upset lately, I still don't know how to feel about calling her that as my real mother died a long time ago. As for my father, he lived in the countryside with grandpa on the farm.

As for this mother, I never really get to see her much… well that's kinda inevitable but what I mean is that she's never physically present. I think she takes care of the King's duties while he's away, but still it seems a bit odd.

Yesterday I got to meet another family member, apparently her name is Amelia, she's very pretty but the only reason why I remember her name is because everytime I look at her face up close I see these tiny little horns on her head. I grabbed it one time out of curiosity (slightly hoping they were sensitive) and they were real.

Aunt Amelia thought it was cute, (she did not blush) and she's been coming over almost everyday ever since. Unfortunately all great things come to an end however.

"Bye bye little jess. I need to go but I'll see you in a few months, maybe sooner. I still have a mission to do, I'm afraid. Besides, I'm still on the lookout for your step-grandmother."

My what? Mission? The longer I'm alive the more confused I become. What kind of family is this?

"Ah sister, you're heading to mount stride right? Let me come with you."

"Hmm? I don't mind but what about jess?" Aunt Amelia is so attentive, she's definitely my favorite aunt.

"It's fine, I just need you to fly me there. After that you can drop us off and I'll hand the natives the portal ring."

Portal ring? That sounds awesome, but what are we going to fly? It can't be a plane can it?

"Alright I'll grab the gondola."

I think I'm done with asking questions, let's just wait and see.

A few minutes go by with my mother and we're just sitting on a bench in the garden surrounded by flowers. It's so peaceful, I look up at my mother wondering what's going on in her mind. Now that I think about it, I've never spent so much time with her. As I stared at her for a minute, she finally looked down for a brief second and then.

CRASH

Are we under attack?! I look over at the noise and see a giant box with something even bigger looming over it, moving. It moved its face closer, until it finally came into view. It was a dragon. A red dragon about the size of a tractor trailer. I feel bad for the gardeners who will have to take care of this later.

"Amelia, stop trying to scare Jess." My mother sighs at her sister's attempt at a joke and the sad state of the flowers.

All I could do was stare wide eyed at this dragon. Once again surprised over how this family works.

The dragon steps back and grabs hold of the giant box like she's carrying a grocery bag, I guess we're riding in that?

My mother walks into the gondola and we sit down on one of the seats waiting to go to this Mount Stride. Soon we lift off and I can see…Nothing. I still can't really see anything. I hate being a baby.

In the meantime I'll just go to sleep and see what happens from there.

When I woke up we were still inside the gondola, but now instead of a vast array of blue it's now currently black and gray. Which I assume means we're in the mountains. I was expecting more greenery.

After a couple more minutes Amelia the dragon starts to decend, once we finally land we walk out and we're immediately surrounded by a group of people. At least I want to call them that, but these creatures all looked almost alien. They had a normal height, slightly taller than my mother and had an almost humanoid physique but they were slightly hunched over.

One thing to note about them was that they were incredibly blue with most of their skin being almost clear, and they all had a face that looked like it belonged to an old man.

Needless to say they all looked gross. They got closer to us when suddenly I heard a loud bang coming from behind us. Before I could look at it I saw my aunt walking closer to us.

"Man I wish I was a mage, then I'd be able to peer into that curious little skull of yours," I almost freaked out a little at that. I guess I have been a little too curious about everything. "Well this is it. Do you need any help with anything?"

"No I'm fine, I'm going to talk to the natives about trade and work."
