Chapter 13 - [Volume 1] Chapter 13 - How much?

Suddenly hearing a voice, they turned to look up and were stunned to see a girl with loose black hair like the night sky, amber eyes that seemed to see through everything. Even though she wore a cheap scholar dress, it couldn't hide her noble demeanor. If they didn't know her, they might have thought she was a noblewoman. Illustration

"Scholar Li, are you sure?" Aunt Zhao looked at Jiho with uncertainty. It was not hidden from her how this girl operated, yet she was trying to help another. 'This girl is too kind.'

"Yes, Aunt Zhao, we should hurry; he's bleeding," Jiho said as she got down and looked at the injured person being carried by another.

'How can they be so injured? Their lives don't seem that simple. Sigh.'

After hearing her words, the others snapped back to reality, putting the injured person into the carriage. However, a new problem arose.

"There are only three seats; how can they all fit?" an old aunt said, looking at Aunt Zhao.

"I can manage one person at the front, but it's not enough for everyone," Aunt Zhao replied. Hearing this, the merfolk's heads dropped.

"I..." Mers bit his lips, trying to hide his tears, but a voice interrupted him.

"It's okay; I can walk there myself." Jiho walked toward the yellow-headed mer and gave him twenty copper.

"But Scholar Li, are you sure?"

"Yes, it's okay Aunt Zhao. I can walk there myself," Jiho smiled and turned around.

Hearing that, Mers suddenly came to his senses, looking at her and opened his mouth. "Please wait, it's..." Before he could finish, he was interrupted again.

"I think you should care about later and take care of your brother." Without turning around, Jiho left.

"But..." Before he could say anything, Jiho walked away.

Gritting his teeth and clenching money in his hand, he got on the carriage. 'I will not forget this favor,' he thought, looking at his injured brother.

After everyone left, there was still someone standing there—Xei Cheng's whose face turned red. 'This... she doesn't have money to pay for me but can throw it for that Ji Jinx. I will make you regret it.'

Not knowing about the coming storm, Jiho walked toward the county town.

After walking for 40 minutes.

'Why did I say I would walk to town? How long is it?' as she got on her knees, she exclaimed.

After a while, outside a huge wooden door stood some soldiers.

'Finally, finally, I reached here!' After some minutes, as Jiho paid the entry tax, she noticed many beggars.

As she walked toward the market, it was almost barren. Jiho walked into a seasoning shop.

"What?" a shout roared out of the shop; Jiho's eyes widened. "Look like I misheard. Can you please say again?" Jiho asked with a smile.

"One liter of oil is one silver," an old woman said with an annoying face.

'You damn bastard, I didn't ask to repeat.'

'But you asked.'

'I don't mean that.'

After fighting with eyes, Jiho formed a smile on her lips. "Fine then, let's do that." As her smile grew, the shopkeeper got a bad feeling, and his smile dimmed. KO

"Yes," a triumphant smile graced Jiho's face, while her defeated look betrayed the bargaining battle lost.

After buying from the seasoning shop, Jiho walked toward the meat area. Sometime later, she found only one meat shop.

"How much for meat?" Suddenly hearing the voice, the mer looked up, shocked as he looked up. "Hello..., how much?" As Jiho waved her hand in his face, the mer came out of his dream. "Oh, I am sorry. Wait a minute. I'll call for my wife." He clumsily ran toward his wife; Jiho was stunned by his reaction.

(Village chief: Do you have a habit of interrupting others?)

(Jiho: Hump, so what? A triumphant smile formed on her face.)
