The meeting lasted longer than Ye Heng had expected.
Initially, he was planning to head back to his office after the meeting and looked at a few documents. However, before he could make his escape, his father dragged him to the office and forced him to sit down and talk.
Ye Heng thought his father would want to discuss a subject they had mentioned during their meeting. Unexpectedly, their topic was his recent blind date.
The cup of coffee that the secretary had served earlier was still hot.
Ye Heng watched the steam coming out of the cup with a dazed look on his face while listening to his father's speech.
A few days ago, Ye Heng had attended another blind date. Just like any other date that he had attended, Ye Heng headed home with a feeling that the lady and him did not match.
By this time, Ye Heng had lost count of just how many blind dates he had attended.
"Ah Heng..."
His father's helpless tone finally snapped Ye Heng out of his trance.
Ye Heng looked up from the cup of coffee and saw that his father was watching him with concern.
"Will you tell me what is wrong with Miss Zhao?"
Ye Heng had a smile that did not reach his eyes. "Dad, I just thought that Miss Zhao and I were not suitable. I—"
"Really?" Ye Chun spoke before his son could finish his sentences. "Your mother seemed to think that the two of you will make a great pair."
Ye Heng lowered his head again.
His mother thought that he would make a great pair to every woman he had a blind date with. Of course, Ye Heng understood his mother's concern.
His younger sister, Ye Qing Xin was married and had a child. Meanwhile, Xiao Luo seemed to be in a serious relationship.
Ye Heng knew that his mother was worried about him and hoped that he too would settle down with someone he liked.
"Ye Heng, just tell me the truth..." Ye Chun hesitated. "You... do you have any problem?"
The corner of his lips began to twitch.
This was not the first time that Ye Heng had heard such a question from his parents.
"Dad..."
"I know." Ye Chun cleared his throat.
Ye Heng heaved helplessly.
He did not want to make his elders worried about him. This was the reason he had agreed to attend the blind dates in the first place.
In the beginning, he thought that he might be able to meet someone he liked through this blind date. The other party did not have to be pretty or rich.
It would be enough if she was someone he could get along with.
But after attending a few blind dates, Ye Heng began to feel that he was wasting everyone's time.
The ladies he met were nice. But he just could not feel a spark between them. His instinct told him that going on a second date would be a waste of time.
Actually, Ye Heng could not understand what was going on with himself.
He knew that he liked women. Otherwise, he would not wake up with a wet patch on his pants each time he had a dream of sleeping with a woman.
The dream felt so real and everything was so intense.
Ye Heng could see the woman's slender figure in his dream. He could feel the way the woman's skin felt under his palm and her hot breath as she whispered his name.
He saw himself kissing her from her toes to her stomach and chest.
But then, Ye Heng would wake up from that sweet and torturous dream as soon as he tried to see the woman's face.
The same scene had appeared in his dream a few times and Ye Heng began to think that there was something wrong with him.
Could it be that he was sexually frustrated?
"Your mother and I had talked about this," Ye Chun continued. "Ah Heng, we both felt that it was better for you not to attend the blind date anymore."
There was a hint of surprise in Ye Heng's eyes. "Why?"
This was not what he had expected to hear from his father. He had thought that his parents would not give up on setting him up with someone until he met someone suitable.
"You have been on a few blind dates so far but never had a second date with anyone," Ye Chun pointed out. "We both felt that it was better for you to take a break." A helpless sigh escaped him. "Ah Heng, your mother, and I hope you are happy. If going to a blind date is something that you did not like, then, you should not force yourself."
Ye Heng stayed in his father's office for a while to talk about his failing blind dates before he finally left.
A long heavy sigh escaped him the moment he stepped out of his father's office.
He did not expect that discussing a blind date would be more tiring than attending a meeting with the higher-ups.
Ye Heng was greeted by his secretary as he returned to the office.
He listened to his secretary's briefing about some important documents that he needed to look at.
Unexpectedly, some documents had arrived while he was at the meeting earlier.
Ye Heng browsed through the document briefly before letting his secretary leave his room.
He then reached for his mobile phone that he had placed on the table and saw that there were a few notifications. Just now, he had left his phone in his office as he did not want to be distracted during a meeting.
The family's chatting group was quite lively with some photos of his nephew, Su Yu. The little boy learned to walk and would be seen playing with a white, fat cat.
Ye Heng browsed through the notification and paused when he saw an unfamiliar number.
He clicked on the notification and paused when he read the message.
It was from Tang Shi Yi, asking him to go out for a cup of coffee.
