The sunlight peeked through the curtains before it reached Tang Shi Yi's face.
Her brow furrowed. Tang Shi Yi opened her eyes slowly and stared at the ceiling above.
It took her a brief seconds to realize that she was at the hospital. Last night, she left an event at the hotel early and heard that her daughter was feeling uncomfortable.
Tang Shi Yi rushed over to the hospital to comfort the little girl. She was only able to be at ease when she saw that her daughter had fallen asleep.
Later, Tang Shi Yi did not dare to leave the hospital, worrying that her daughter would have another dream that would make her sad.
Tang Shi Yi looked at the bed and sat up quickly when she realized that her daughter was not on the bed. She swept her gaze around the room and was finally able to relax upon seeing the little girl sitting on the sofa with her elder brother.
The look on her face turned gentler.
At this time, her children were sitting closer while reading a book together.
Xiao Xiao did not get the chance to go to school because of her illness. Most of the time, it was her brother who would teach her what he had learned from school.
Tang Shi Yi sat in bed while observing her children for a while.
As if noticing that someone was staring at him, Tang Chen raised his head and looked in the direction of his mother. His eyes lit up when he saw that his mother was awake.
"Mommy!" Tang Chen's voice was full of joy.
Tang Xiao followed her brother's line of gaze and echoed, "Mommy!"
Chen Chen jumped off the sofa before helping his little sister down. The two children walked to the bed, holding hands.
Tang Chen wanted to run over to his mother's side. But he knew that it was not suitable for his little sister to run around. He could only hold his sister's hand and walked cautiously together.
"Mommy, you're awake." Tang Xiao stretched both hands and smiled happily when her mother lifted her from the bed.
Tang Chen grabbed the bedsheet and climbed up as well.
"Mommy, you slept for a long time," Tang Xiao said. "Mommy, are you tired?" Her lips pursed into a thin line as she recalled that her mother had come to the hospital because she was crying too much.
Xiao Xiao felt slightly guilty, knowing that she was making trouble for her mother.
Tang Shi Yi hugged her daughter in her arms. "That's because Xiao Xiao was with me." Seeing that her daughter started to laugh, Tang Shi Yi reached to hug her son as well. "Chen Chen, why are you here as well?"
"It was grandma who took me here," Tang Chen said. "I want to see Xiao Xiao as well. That's right. Mommy, Grandma brought you a change of clothes."
Just in time, Mother Tang pushed the door open.
Seeing that the kids were gathered around their mother made her smile. "Shi Yi, you're awake. I told the kids to let you sleep a while longer."
"Mom." Tang Shi Yi released the kids from her embrace. "Thank you for looking after the kids."
"I'm their grandmother. What are you thanking me for?" Mother Tang placed a bag of food on the table. "I bought everyone some breakfast. Shi Yi, you should go and change your clothes first. We'll eat together, alright?"
The twins looked at each other happily.
It seemed that it had been a while since they got to eat together.
Tang Shi Yi kissed her children on their cheek before she grabbed the change of clothes and headed to the bathroom.
While their mother was washing up, Tang Chen and Tang Xiao sat on the sofa to continue reading their books.
Tang Xiao raised her head and watched their grandfather arranging their breakfast on the table. Her lips pursed as she recalled something from last night.
She tugged at her brother's sleeve and waved her hand, asking him to come closer. "Chen Chen, I have something to discuss with you."
The little boy tilted his head to one side as he looked at his younger sister in puzzlement. "Xiao Xiao, what is it?"
Xiao Xiao cupped her hand on her mouth and whispered. "Last night, I had a dream about our father."
The look on Tang Chen's face began to change. "What did you dream about?"
A few years ago, Xiao Xiao began to talk about the father that they both had never seen.
Xiao Xiao has been staying at the hospital for too long and has witnessed the other children being accompanied by their parents.
She felt that it was different for her.
She did not have her father to spoil her. Instead, the people who would accompany her to the hospital were her mother and her grandmother.
Since then, Xiao Xiao often wondered about their father.
Xiao Xiao had once told him about an old photo that their mother had shown. Unfortunately, Tang Chen never had the chance to look at the photo that his sister had seen before.
No matter how he looked around the house, Chen Chen could not find the photo.
He too would love to see the face of their father. However, their mother would not speak about that man and Chen Chen did not want to make his mother unhappy by bringing up a subject that their mother did not want to talk about.
"Chen Chen, I dreamed that we finally found Daddy." Tang Xiao clenched her tiny hands as she recalled the next part of the dream. "We found Daddy. But Daddy did not want us."
Tang Chen held his sister's hand. "Xiao Xiao, it was only a dream. How can Daddy not want us? Xiao Xiao is too cute. He will want us. Didn't we talk about this previously? Daddy isn't around because he was having trouble finding us. I'm sure that he will find us someday."
Xiao Xiao seemed unsatisfied with her brother's answer. A thought came to her mind, making her look at her brother expectantly. "Since Daddy is having trouble finding us, then, Chen Chen, should we find him instead?"
