Yhwach's eyes narrowed slightly at Ozpin's boldness, his gaze piercing as he assessed the situation. Despite the headmaster's threat, he remained calm and composed, his mind racing with possibilities.
Yhwach: Threatening us with the authorities, are you? That's quite the gamble, Ozpin.
His tone was measured, yet there was a subtle undertone of warning in his words. Yhwach glanced at Zaegar, silently communicating with him before turning back to face Ozpin.
Yhwach: Very well, we'll accompany you back to your academy. But know this, Ozpin. We won't be staying long, and we won't hesitate to leave if things become... inconvenient for us.
Timeskip
Yhwach sat in the flying machine with Zaegar on his lap, near the front right by the pilot's seat.
Zaegar: I...fucking...hate....vehicles...
Ruby: Here.
She said, holding out a box with a red cross on the front of it.
Ruby: It's a first aid kit. You're kind of hurt so I figured that there might be something in here for you to use.
Zaegar was going to decline, but Yhwach grabbed the box from the girl.
Yhwach: Hm.
She said nothing but sat down across from them.
Yhwach sat the box down on his other lap and opened it.
As Yhwach observed the contents of the first aid kit, his mind was already plotting the next steps of his plan. He knew that staying at Beacon Academy could provide them with valuable information and resources, but he also understood the need to maintain their independence and avoid any potential entanglements.
With a calculating gleam in his eyes, Yhwach formulated a strategy. He would play the role of a cooperative guest while subtly gathering intelligence about this new world and its inhabitants. At the same time, he would ensure that they remained prepared to leave at a moment's notice if their presence became a liability.
Yhwach: Thank you for the first aid kit, Little girl. Your assistance is appreciated.
The girl smiled at his response.
Ruby: My name is Ruby by the way. And I'm..uh...sorry about shooting you earlier.
Yhwach: There is no need for apologies, girl. Your enemies won't offer them, and neither will I.
Yhwach told her. She gave him a strange look.
Ruby: Oh, O..k. Anyways, what's your name?
The Quincy king remained quiet for a while. Ruby stopped smiling.
Ruby: Oh, you don't have to tell me. I can fill you in on everyone!
Her smile brightened as she spoke.
Ruby: The blonde over there is my big sis, Yang. She's... well, let's just say she's got a knack for getting into trouble.
She leaned in and whispered the last part conspiratorially.
Ruby: The girl with the bow is Blake. She's a bit like you, quiet and mysterious. And the one with the white hair is Weiss. She might seem a bit cold at first, but deep down, she's not so bad. Sometimes.
Yhwach glanced briefly at the individuals Ruby pointed out, then returned his gaze to the floor, deep in thought talking with Ginjo. Zaegar's discomfort was palpable, and Ruby noticed the tension.
Ruby: I can see that you both want to be alone, sorry about that.
She went to scoot away but a word from the chaotic one stopped her.
Zaegar: Zaegar.
Ruby: Huh? Zaegar?
Zaegar: That's right. Zaegar's the name, and this big guy whose mustache seems to have a life of its own is Yhwach.
Ruby's smile widened even more at the confirmation.
Yang: Those are...unique names.
Yang told Zaegar.
Yang was about to speak when a girl named Blake came up to Yhwach's right looking at Zaegar.
Blake: You said you were a faunus, what kind of faunus are you?
Zaegar: I guess it's Dragon now.
Blake's head tilted in confusion.
Blake: Dragon, I've never met or even heard of Dragon Faunus before.
Zaegar: Yeah, not exactly common, are we, bitch?
Weiss interrupted her fascination by sitting down on the other side of Yhwach.
Weiss: During our fight, how did you shatter my ice when I froze your arm?
Yhwach looked at her with narrowed eyes, he didn't like her tone. Her own eyes widen before scooted back ever so slightly in fear.
Weiss: I-uh-I mean y-you don't have to t-tell m-me...
Yhwach's gaze remained intense as he looked at Weiss, his expression unreadable. He didn't appreciate the probing question, especially considering the potential implications of revealing too much about their abilities in this unfamiliar world.
Yhwach: What you witnessed was merely a display of skill and technique, nothing more.
Zaegar: Yeah, and what's it to you, Ice Princess? Do you think we're just gonna spill all our fucking secrets because you ask nicely well think again bitch?
Weiss: I was just curious. No need to get hostile.
Ruby's interruption brought a momentary pause to the escalating tension in the air. She looked between Yhwach and Weiss, her expression a mix of concern and confusion.
Ruby: Um, sorry to interrupt, but when you shattered Weiss' ice, was that your semblance?
Yhwach glanced at Ruby, his gaze thoughtful as he considered her question. The term "semblance" was unfamiliar to him, and he furrowed his brow in confusion.
Yhwach: Semblance? What do you mean by that?
Ozpin made his presence in the conversation known.
Ozpin: A semblance is a manifestation of one's aura, representing a unique ability unlocked by individuals in tune with their life force. It not only grants them special powers but also acts as a shield against the encroaching darkness of Grimm.
Zaegar: Grimm? Do these ugly creatures have black fur, and bone-like white and red eyes, and evaporate into a black mist when they die?
Ozpin: I see that you both have encountered them before. They are evil creatures who are drawn by negative emotions. They want only for the entire world to be stripped of humankind.
Ozpin explained.
After a few personal questions, some of which went unanswered as they all arrived at their school, Beacon Academy.
Yhwach stood up looking outside. His eyes widened as he finally gazed up at the metal and stone fortress. It alone was one of the biggest buildings he had ever seen in his long life.
Ozpin: Impressive is it not?
Ozpin remarked, his tone carrying a hint of pride.
Yhwach: Unexpected.
Yhwach corrected him. The flying machine, or bullhead as Ruby called it, landed on an open level of the school.
As everyone got off, Yhwach noticed another blonde with glasses was waiting for them.
Glynda: So, how did it go? Did you find them?
She asked Ozpin.
Ozpin: Why don't you ask him yourself?
Yhwach walked down the bullhead's open door and onto solid ground with Zaegar on his shoulder.
Glynda: You brought him here?
She furiously questioned Ozpin.
Ozpin: Glynda, please ensure they are provided with food and a room. It seems Cardin's team has once again acted less than professionally.
Yhwach turned his head, his eyes narrowing slightly as he approached Ozpin.
Yhwach: Promises of food and shelter, Ozpin. Zaegar's hunger is becoming unbearable.
The woman called Glynda turned to them in a fit of anger.
Glynda: Show some respect! He is the headmaster of this academy, and he did not have to promise you anything.
Zaegar's eyes blazed with fury as he glared at Glynda from his perch on Yhwach's shoulder.
Zaegar: Oh, you think you're all high and mighty, don't you, Miss Prissy Pants? With your fancy robes and your stick-up the fucking ass attitude! Well, let me tell you something, you glorified broomstick! You wouldn't know respect if it smacked you in the face! You're nothing but a glorified janitor playing dress-up! BITCH.
His words cut through the air like a knife, drawing startled looks from those around them. Ruby, Yang, Blake, and Weiss stared at Zaegar in shock, their mouths agape with disbelief. Even Ozpin couldn't hide a small smirk, though he quickly composed himself.
Glynda's expression twisted into a mixture of outrage and indignation. Her cheeks flushed with anger as she struggled to maintain her composure in the face of Zaegar's verbal assault.
Glynda: How dare you! You insolent little—!
Before she could finish her retort, laughter erupted from the onlookers. Ruby, Yang, Blake, and Weiss couldn't contain their amusement, their laughter echoing through the courtyard. Even Ozpin's lips twitched with suppressed mirth, though he managed to maintain a stoic facade.
Ruby: Oh my Oum, did you hear that, Weiss? He called her a glorified janitor!
Yang: And a stick-up the ass Classic!
Blake: I've never heard anyone insult Professor Glynda like that before.
Weiss: This is absurd! We're in the presence of—!
Her protest was drowned out by another burst of laughter from the group. Zaegar, emboldened by their reaction, continued his tirade with renewed vigor.
Zaegar: That's right, laugh it up, you a bunch of fucking chuckleheads! You're all just a bunch of clueless sheep following your precious headmaster's every whim! Well, guess what? We're not here to play nice with your little academy! We're here to—!
Yhwach's hand clamped down on Zaegar's shoulder, cutting off his rant mid-sentence. The Quincy king's gaze was steely as he regarded the group with a warning glare.
Yhwach: That's enough, Zaegar.
Glynda's eyes widen. No one has ever talked to her like that.
Ozpin: Glynda, may I introduce Yhwach and Zaegar to you? Yhwach, Zaegar, this is Glynda Goodwitch.
Ozpin's tone remained composed, his smile polite as he introduced them.
Glynda's expression softened slightly as she took in Ozpin's introduction. Despite her initial outrage, she was a professional, and she knew better than to let her emotions get the better of her in front of the headmaster.
Glynda: It's a pleasure to meet you, Yhwach, Zaegar.
Her tone was formal, though there was a lingering hint of irritation in her voice. Yhwach inclined his head in acknowledgment, while Zaegar grunted in response, still seething with anger.
Ozpin: Glynda, please ensure our guests are properly accommodated. I trust you'll handle it with your usual efficiency.
Glynda nodded curtly, her demeanor shifting back to business-like professionalism.
Glynda: Of course, Ozpin. Follow me, please.
With that, she turned on her heel and strode off towards the main entrance of Beacon Academy, expecting Yhwach and Zaegar to follow. Yhwach cast a brief glance at Ozpin, his gaze unreadable, before falling into step behind Glynda, with Zaegar grumbling under his breath but following nonetheless.
As they walked through the corridors of the academy, Glynda led them to a spacious guest room, furnished with comfortable beds and basic amenities. She gestured towards the room with a brisk motion of her hand.
Glynda: This will be your accommodations for the duration of your stay. If you require anything else, don't hesitate to ask.
Yhwach nodded in appreciation, his expression neutral as he surveyed the room. Zaegar, still simmering with anger, merely grunted in response, his eyes fixed on Glynda with open hostility.
Glynda: If there's nothing else, I'll leave you to settle in. Dinner will be served in the main hall shortly.
Timeskip - Main Hall
As Yhwach and Zaegar sat down to eat in the main hall of Beacon Academy, the atmosphere around them was a mix of curiosity and wariness from the other students. Yhwach remained composed, his gaze scanning the room as he observed their surroundings, while Zaegar dug into his meal with a primal fervor that drew more than a few curious glances.
Zaegar's transformation into a dragon seemed to have altered not only his appearance but also his mannerisms, as he tore into his food with a savage hunger that bordered on animalistic. Ginjo's voice echoed within Yhwach's mind, commenting on Zaegar's change in behavior.
Ginjo:(Within Yhwach's mind ) Looks like our friend's taken quite a liking to his new form. Must have affected more than just his appearance.
Yhwach nodded in agreement, watching as Zaegar devoured his meal with gusto. Despite his outward calm, Yhwach couldn't help but feel a twinge of concern at the drastic change in Zaegar's behavior.
Yhwach: Indeed. It seems his transformation has had a profound effect on him.
As Zaegar let out a loud burp and an equally unpleasant fart, Yhwach couldn't hide his distaste, shooting a disapproving glance in Zaegar's direction. Ginjo, too, seemed unimpressed by Zaegar's lack of manners.
Yhwach: (mentally) How charming.
Ginjo:(Within Yhwach's mind ) Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
Yhwach nodded in agreement, his expression sour as he continued to eat his own meal in relative silence.
Ozpin entered the main hall, his presence commanding the attention of everyone present. He made his way over to Yhwach's table, his expression calm and composed despite the chaos around them.
Ozpin: Yhwach, Zaegar. I trust you're settling in alright?
Yhwach nodded in acknowledgment, his gaze steady as he regarded the headmaster.
Yhwach: We are, thank you.
Ozpin: Hm, interesting.
Ozpin said while looking at Zaegar.
Ozpin: You might find our library of use in learning more about Remnant and I am more than happy to help you with any questions, as is Miss Goodwitch.
Glynda looked at them regaining some of her composure. She gave Ozpin another look but nodded to Yhwach.
Glynda: I can help when I am not teaching.
Yhwach said nothing but nodded.
Ozpin: And if you wish, I'm sure someone of your talents can find any kind of work in a school like this.
Zaegar looked up at them.
Zaegar: If you're asking him to enroll, you're roaring up the wrong mountain.
Ozpin laughed at his draconian version of the old saying.
Ozpin: No of course not, I meant as a teacher's assistant or something of that caliber.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Zaegar, we may need to consider Ozpin's offer more seriously than I initially thought.
Zaegar looked up from his meal, a curious expression on his face.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) You're actually considering teaching at this place?
Yhwach nodded, his gaze thoughtful as he considered the possibilities.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) It could provide us with valuable access to information and resources. And besides, I have experience in teaching from our time in the other world.
Zaegar grunted in understanding, recognizing the strategic advantage of having a presence within Beacon Academy.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Alright, but don't forget, we're not here to play nice. We'll keep our guard up and gather whatever intel we can.
Yhwach nodded in agreement, his mind already formulating plans for how they could leverage their position within the academy to further their own goals.
Yhwach: Ozpin what kind of class?
Ozpin looked at Glynda and her eyes widened.
Ozpin: Combat class may suit your talents well.
Yhwach glanced at Glynda briefly before returning his attention to Ozpin.
Yhwach: I shall consider your proposition and respond accordingly in due time.
As Yhwach and Ozpin continued their conversation about potential roles within Beacon Academy, Ruby approached their table, a bright smile on her face.
Ruby: Hey, Yhwach! I wanted to introduce you to my friends from Team JNPR!
Yhwach nodded in acknowledgment, his expression neutral as he regarded Ruby and her companions. Team JNPR approached the table, each member offering a polite greeting to Yhwach, who simply nodded in response.
Jaune: Hi there, I'm Jaune Arc, leader of Team JNPR. Nice to meet you.
Yhwach inclined his head slightly in acknowledgment, but before he could respond, Zaegar seized the opportunity to make his presence known in a rather dramatic fashion.
Zaegar's eyes gleamed with mischief as he opened his mouth wide, devouring not only his meal but also the bowl it was served in. The members of Team JNPR watched in shock and disbelief as Zaegar continued his display of gluttony, his tiny mouth seemingly capable of consuming anything in its path.
Nora: Whoa! Did you see that?
Ren: I've never seen anything like it.
Pyrrha: Is... is he always like this?
Yhwach looked on with mild amusement, his expression betraying a hint of satisfaction at his companion's antics. Meanwhile, Ginjo's laughter echoed within Yhwach's mind, his amusement evident even without speaking aloud.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Looks like our friend has quite the appetite. Remind me never to get on his bad side again.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Zaegar's enthusiasm for food seems to be... boundless.
Yhwach chuckled inwardly at Ginjo's remark, his gaze shifting back to the bewildered expressions of Team JNPR.
Yhwach: Indeed, Zaegar has a rather... unique appetite.
Pyrrha: Um, nice to meet you, Zaegar. I'm Pyrrha Nikos.
Ren: Ren.
Nora: Nora Valkyrie!
As Zaegar finished his display of gluttony, he noticed the stunned expressions on the faces of Team JNPR. With a mischievous glint in his eyes, he raised one of his tiny dragon hands and flipped them off, his claws extending menacingly.
Zaegar: Yeah, that's right! Keep staring, you bunch of fucking losers! You've never seen anything like me before, have you? Well, get used to it, because I'm not going anywhere, and neither is my big, bad boss!
His words were laced with venom as he spat out insults with reckless abandon, his tiny dragon form pulsating with unchecked aggression.
Zaegar: And you! You think you're some kind of hotshot, Jaune? Leading your sorry excuse for a team? Ha! More like leading them straight into a disaster! And you, Pyrrha, with your fancy moves and your "niceness." You're nothing but a fucking weakling!
Pyrrha's eyes widened in shock at Zaegar's brazen insults, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment and anger. Ren and Nora exchanged uncomfortable glances, unsure of how to react to Zaegar's outburst.
Nora: Um, maybe we should—
But before Nora could finish her sentence, Zaegar had already turned his attention back to Yhwach's meal. With a swift movement, he plunged his dragon head into the dish, his sharp teeth tearing into the food with ferocious determination.
Yhwach sighed inwardly at Zaegar's antics, shaking his head in exasperation. Despite his companion's impulsive behavior, he couldn't help but feel a sense of amusement at the chaos unfolding around them.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Zaegar, must you always be so... abrasive?
Ginjo's laughter echoed within Yhwach's mind, his amusement evident even in their silent exchange.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) You have to admit, it's entertaining.
Yhwach couldn't argue with that, as he watched Zaegar continue to wreak havoc with his insatiable appetite and sharp tongue.
The sound of a girl yelping out of pain directed their attention. The leader of the same team Yhwach and Zaegar beat yesterday was pulling on the ears of a bunny faunus.
Yhwach: That boy. What is his name?
Nora: Oh that jerk? His name is Cardin, he's the leader of team CRDL.
Nora told him.
Yhwach: I see. Thank you.
Yhwach told her before standing up and slowly making his way behind the team.
Team CRDL was laughing at the girl before one of them turned around and saw Yhwach's face full of malice. The boy's face drained of color and his eyes shrunk to nothing. Yhwach walked forward and the boy moved out of the way as quickly as possible. The other two team members repeated the same thing until the only one laughing and unaware of Yhwach's terrifying presence was Cardin.
When Cardin finally realized he was the only one laughing he turned around.
Cardin: Hey where'd you guys...g-go...
Cardin's bravado faltered, his laughter dying in his throat as he paled considerably, his eyes widening in dread at the looming figure before him.
Yhwach looked down at the bully before slowly reaching out and grabbing the boy's collar and lifting him high above the ground, effortlessly. The bunny girl fell down when Cardin let go of her ears, but she stayed on the ground when she saw Yhwach holding Cardin several feet off the ground.
Yhwach's voice dripped with ominous intensity as he addressed Cardin.
Yhwach: You know what I despise more than arrogance, Cardin?
The mention of his name sent a shiver down Cardin's spine, his eyes widening further in apprehension.
Yhwach: I despise those who abuse their power to intimidate others. Especially cowards who flee from confrontation like frightened children. So, listen closely to my words. If I catch wind of you bullying your peers again, you will face consequences far beyond your imagination. Understood?
Cardin shook his head violently.
Yhwach: Good. Now get out of my sight.
With a swift motion, Yhwach shifted Cardin to his right, then flicked his wrist. Cardin was sent hurtling into the wall, creating a web of cracks and leaving behind a crater resembling his shape.
Turning his attention to the rest of Cardin's team, who stood frozen in fear, Yhwach uttered a single command.
Yhwach: Leave.
The three team members ran out of the cafeteria in fear. A few people cheered at that.
Yhwach turned back to the girl.
Yhwach: They won't be bothering you anymore.
Yhwach turned back around to walk away.
Girl: T-thank you.
She told him as she got up. Yhwach only waved his hand as he returned to his seat.
Once he sat down, he realized that they were all staring at him.
Yhwach: What?
Zaegar: Just didn't expect you to be the one handing out justice, that's all. But hey, I'm not complaining. That was pretty badass if you ask me!
Blake approached their table, her expression curious.
Blake: Why did you do that?
Blake asked him for all of her friends.
Yhwach regarded Blake with a steady gaze, his expression unreadable as he considered her question. After a moment of contemplation, he spoke with a calm yet authoritative tone.
Yhwach: Injustice should never go unchecked. Those who abuse their power to harm others must be held accountable for their actions. It is a principle I firmly believe in.
No one asked any questions after that. Yhwach had gotten up and decided that he required some sleep with Zaegar following him. He began to walk out of the cafeteria and was met by Ozpin at the start of the hallway the two had come from. The headmaster was neither smiling nor frowning at Yhwach and Zaegar.
Ozpin: You know, violence isn't always the answer.
Ozpin told him.
Yhwach regarded Ozpin with a steady gaze, his expression inscrutable.
Yhwach: Violence is a tool, Headmaster Ozpin. Like any tool, its purpose depends on the one who wields it. In this case, justice was served, and a message was delivered. Whether it was through violence or diplomacy matters little in the face of ensuring the safety and well-being of others.
Zaegar: plus If violence doesn't solve your problems, you simply aren't using enough of it.
Ozpin: I didn't realize you cared for other people's well-being.
Yhwach regarded Ozpin with a faint smirk, his eyes glinting with a hint of amusement at the headmaster's observation.
Yhwach: My concern lies not in caring for others' well-being, but in upholding a sense of order and justice in this world. It is a principle that transcends personal feelings or attachments.
Ozpin's gaze softened slightly at Yhwach's response, his expression thoughtful as he regarded the Quincy king.
Ozpin: Perhaps there is more to you than meets the eye, Yhwach. Time will tell.
With that, Ozpin nodded in acknowledgment before turning to walk away, leaving Yhwach and Zaegar alone in the hallway. Yhwach watched the headmaster's retreating figure with a contemplative expression, his mind already turning to the challenges that lay ahead.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Zaegar, it seems we have caught the attention of Beacon Academy's headmaster. We must tread carefully from here on out.
Zaegar grunted in agreement, his eyes narrowing with determination as he glanced around the empty hallway.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Yeah, no kidding. But hey, at least we made a strong impression, right?
Yhwach chuckled softly at Zaegar's remark, a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Indeed we have, my friend.
Timeskip - The following morning.
Zaegar stirred, shaking off sleep as he perched on Yhwach's shoulder. Stepping outside, Yhwach shielded his eyes from the brilliant sunlight streaming through the towering windows.
Ruby's energetic voice broke through the morning haze, drawing their gaze. Ruby bounded over to them with a wide smile.
Ruby: Hey there!
She exclaimed, her enthusiasm infectious.
Ruby: You're both awake! How are you feeling?
Zaegar: We're alright, but those damned sunbeams feel like a million needles in my new eyes. I will fucking set fire to the sun.
Ginjo's voice echoed within Yhwach's mind, his tone laced with amusement.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Is he still on about setting fire to the sun? Some things never change.
Yhwach couldn't help but chuckle at Ginjo's remark, his amusement mirrored in Zaegar's grumbling.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Some habits die hard, it seems.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) You try having these fucking sensitive draconic eyes and see how you like it you assholes.
Ruby looked between them with a bemused expression, her curiosity piqued by their silent exchange.
Ruby: Um, is everything okay?
Yhwach nodded reassuringly at Ruby's question, his expression calm and composed.
Yhwach: Yes, everything is fine. Zaegar is just... expressing his thoughts on the morning sun.
Zaegar: Hey Robin Hood where the hell's everyone else?
Ruby: Uh, Everyone's in class but my team has a free period right now. I think they scheduled it that way so that we could have a break before Miss Goodwitch's class.
Ruby shivered at the thought.
Zaegar lifted his snout, taking in deep breaths as he scanned the surroundings for any scent of food. Ruby watched him with curiosity, her eyebrows raised in question.
Ruby: What are you doing?
Zaegar didn't pause his sniffing but answered her inquiry.
Zaegar: Trying to locate something edible.
Ruby: By sniffing the air?
Zaegar glanced down at her, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Zaegar: As a dragon, my senses far surpass those of humans. I can discern scents with remarkable precision. For instance, I can detect Yang's presence in your dorm room, while Blake and Weiss are situated in that direction.
Zaegar pointed a tiny claw down the hallway, indicating the direction.
Ruby: Woah, how did you know that?
Zaegar: I can smell them. I can even smell Ozpin way above us in that tower over there.
Zaegar pointed out of one of the many windows at a tower.
Ruby: Oh that's awesome! But if you both wanted you could have just asked. Lunch is in an hour, sorry.
Zaegar: Great, just fucking great.
Yhwach: He'll manage. Tell me, where can we find the library?
the Quincy king wanted to learn more about the world they found themselves in.
Ruby: I can show you, come on.
Ruby gestured for them to follow as she started down the hallway. Yhwach followed silently, his curiosity driving him forward.
Ruby: So how do you fight your enemies? do you have any weapons to fight them with?
Ruby asked him.
Yhwach considered Ruby's question for a moment, his mind calculating the best way to respond without revealing too much about their abilities.
Yhwach: We possess a variety of techniques and abilities that allow us to confront our enemies. As for weapons, we are skilled in the use of various forms of combat, both unarmed and armed.
He chose his words carefully, ensuring that he provided a vague yet informative answer. Revealing the full extent of their powers could potentially put them at a disadvantage in this unfamiliar world.
Ruby nodded, seemingly satisfied with his response.
Ruby: Let me explain. I use my scythe, Crescent Rose. It's not just a scythe; it's a high-impact sniper rifle that fires high-caliber rounds.
Yhwach and Zaegar looked at her wide-eyed and confused.
Zaegar: Repeat that shit, but in a language dragons understand?
Ruby: Uh, I'm not sure about dragon language, but it's basically a big gun.
Yhwach nodded, acknowledging the explanation. Guns were familiar territory to him.
Yhwach: Yes, you shot me with that, if I recall correctly.
Ruby scratched the back of her head sheepishly.
Ruby: Yeah sorry about that. Now that I think about it you're really strong to have taken one of those shots from that range. You barely even budged.
they made it to a set of open doors. Once inside Yhwach looked around the room to find several large bookcases as well as several floors filled with even more bookcases.
Blake and Weiss sat at a table with a few different books stacked on top of it while they were both reading from other books. After a few moments of reading, they would write down something in a notebook.
Ruby: Here we are.
Ruby told him before looking down at her wristwatch.
Ruby: Oh no! I'm late to meet Yang, I'll see ya later I got to go!
She disappeared in a blur of red. Yhwach walked towards one of the many shelves, glossing over the many titles before finding one title: The History of Remnant.
Yhwach carefully took the book titled "The History of Remnant" from the shelf, flipping through its pages with a sense of anticipation. As he delved into the text, absorbing the knowledge contained within, his mind raced with questions and possibilities.
The Quincy king's eyes narrowed slightly as he read about the history of Remnant, its people, and the various conflicts that had shaped the world. He was particularly intrigued by mentions of the Grimm and the role they played in the world's balance.
Ginjo's voice echoed within Yhwach's mind, his curiosity piqued by the revelations within the book.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) So, this world has its own share of darkness, huh? Sounds like our kind of place.
Yhwach nodded in agreement, his gaze focused on the text before him as he absorbed every detail.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Indeed, it seems that Remnant is a world teeming with potential. We must learn all we can about its history, its inhabitants, and its secrets if we are to navigate this new world.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Agreed. Knowledge is power, after all. And in a world like this, power is everything.
Yhwach then settled at the table where Weiss and Blake were engrossed in their studies, only realizing his presence when he joined them.
Blake: Oh, Yhwach. I didn't notice you there.
Blake greeted him without looking up from her books. Weiss made a small noise of acknowledgment but remained focused on her research.
Yhwach remained silent, delving into the books spread before him. He skimmed through the pages, discarding information he deemed irrelevant.
From the texts, he gathered that the world of Remnant was divided into five distinct kingdoms: Vale, where they currently resided, Vacuo to the west, Atlas to the north, Mistral to the east, and Menagerie to the south. Menagerie stood out as it was primarily inhabited by Faunus, granted to them after a civil war. Atlas, he learned, was a militaristic kingdom, with control over its schools, territories, and armed forces. It had a dark history of Faunus oppression, which ignited the civil conflict.
Yhwach's expression darkened as he absorbed the information about Atlas and its history of oppression. The injustices suffered by the Faunus struck a chord within him, resonating with his own experiences of tyranny and abuse of power.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) The sins of the powerful often weigh heavily upon the innocent. It seems that even in this world, the cycle of oppression and rebellion persists.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) It's a familiar tale, isn't it? Those in power will always seek to maintain their dominance, no matter the cost to others.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Indeed. But perhaps, in this world, we can play a part in breaking that cycle. We have the strength and the knowledge to make a difference.
They also uncovered deeper insights into semblances and auras, realizing the profound significance they hold. Auras, they discovered, are like a reflection of one's vitality, shielding them from harm and aiding in minor healing. They also serve to amplify a huntsman's skills and fuel their unique abilities known as semblances. What struck them as intriguing was the realization that having an aura doesn't automatically mean possessing a semblance.
Yhwach's eyes sparkled with interest as he made connections between the knowledge he had gained and the powers wielded by spiritual beings in his own world. The idea of semblances, in particular, reminded him of Zanpakuto's abilities, the unique powers possessed by Soul Reapers' swords.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) The resemblance to Zanpakuto's abilities is striking. Just as each Zanpakuto possesses unique abilities reflecting the spirit of its wielder, these semblances seem to be deeply connected to the individual's soul and personality.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) It's fascinating how different worlds can harbor similar concepts, albeit with their own unique twists.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Indeed.
Then it came to the Grimm. They were creatures as old as the residents of Remnant themselves, maybe older. He read that Grimm had many variations, some of them were the bear-like creature he killed on his first night here, Ursa, others werewolf-like creatures, Beowolves, amphibian-like ones, Creeps, raven-like Grimm, Nevermore, and several others that he learned of. Each had special and unique attributes. They were drawn to negative emotions, just like Ozpin said, but according to what he read the older Grimm get, the more tactical. These aged Grimm will not attack protected cities in the same place twice, or they will forgo attacking when they see that they are outnumbered or outmatched.
As Yhwach absorbed the knowledge about the Grimm, a sense of familiarity washed over him. The creatures' instinctual response to negative emotions reminded him of the Hollows in his own world, creatures driven by the darkness within human souls.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) The Grimm is much like the Hollows we are familiar with. They are drawn to negative emotions, feeding off the darkness within the human soul.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) It seems that no matter the world, darkness is an ever-present force. But perhaps, just as we have done in our world, we can find a way to counter it here as well.
He was so engrossed in the books that it took Weiss slamming one of them down in front of him to draw his attention.
Yhwach regarded Weiss with a calm demeanor, though a hint of annoyance flickered in his eyes at being disturbed from his reading.
Yhwach: Is there something you require, Weiss?
Weiss: It's lunchtime, I figured you and your pet would want food.
She told him. Yhwach shut the book he was reading before standing up and following her and Blake to the cafeteria.
After having gotten their food and sitting down with the rest of Team RWBY and Team JNPR. They all waved at Yhwach and Zaegar that's on his shoulder still or greeted them to no response. He just sat and started to eat, slower and quieter than yesterday. His silence, however, did not stop their questions.
Zaegar jumped off Yhwach's shoulder and crashed onto Yhwach's meal, his claws tearing into the food with savage hunger. Yhwach's glare intensified as he watched Zaegar devouring his meal with reckless abandon, his expression a mixture of annoyance and frustration.
Ginjo's voice echoed within Yhwach's mind, his tone incredulous as he pointed out the obvious.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Why is Zaegar eating your food when he has his own plate right there?
Yhwach's lips pressed into a thin line as he responded to Ginjo's observation, his irritation evident even in their silent exchange.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Likely to spite me.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Well, he's certainly succeeding.
Yhwach's gaze remained fixed on Zaegar as the dragon continued to devour his meal with gusto, oblivious to the Quincy king's displeasure. Despite his annoyance, Yhwach made no move to stop Zaegar, allowing him to finish his meal in peace.
As Zaegar licked his claws clean, a satisfied grin spread across his draconic features. He glanced up at Yhwach with mischief gleaming in his eyes, seemingly unfazed by the Quincy king's silent disapproval.
Zaegar: What? It was delicious!
Yhwach sighed inwardly, shaking his head in exasperation. He had long since learned that arguing with Zaegar over trivial matters was often an exercise in futility.
Yhwach: Just be more mindful next time.
Zaegar shrugged nonchalantly, his attention already drifting back to his surroundings as he scanned the cafeteria for any signs of more food.
Zaegar: Whatever you say, boss.
Yhwach watched in mild disbelief as Zaegar, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, flapped his tiny wings and soared across the cafeteria, crashing into Cardin and his team with a forceful impact. Cardin was struck squarely in the head, knocking him unconscious, while the rest of his team stumbled backward, taken by surprise.
Before Yhwach could react, Zaegar let out a loud fart, the force of which sent a gust of wind toward Cardin's teammates, knocking them off their feet and rendering them unconscious as well.
Yhwach's expression remained stoic, though a faint hint of amusement flickered in his eyes as he observed Zaegar's antics. Despite his disapproval of Zaegar's behavior, he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction at seeing Cardin and his team dealt with swiftly.
Ginjo's laughter echoed within Yhwach's mind, his amusement evident even without speaking aloud.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Looks like our little friend knows how to make an entrance! That's one way to take care of your enemies, I suppose.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Indeed. While I do not condone such methods, I cannot deny the effectiveness of Zaegar's... unconventional approach.
Jaune: Ignoring what Zaegar did, You both should come to combat class, I would love to see you or Zaegar in action.
Jaune told him. Yhwach glanced at him.
Yhwach: I doubt I'd be permitted to engage in combat with students here. It seems that woman hasn't warmed up to me as the rest of you have. Not that it concerns me.
Yang: You should still come and see it, you seem like the kind of guy that enjoys a good fight.
Yang told him.
Yang: Her next class is after lunch, you can just come with us.
Yhhwach considered it before looking at Zaegar with him giving a light nod, making everyone hiss "Yes." The Quincy king merely shook his head at their childish nature.
A few minutes later lunch ended and the two teams led Yhwach and Zaegar to combat class. Glynda was nowhere to be seen and the class was filling with students, all of whom avoided Yhwach and Zaegar out of either fear or respect from yesterday. Mostly fear.
Team RWBY and JNPR took seats in a row of desks leaving Yhwach to stand by the wall, just leaning against it silently.
Eventually, Glynda came into the room ready to begin teaching when she saw Yhwach against the wall. Her eyes widen before narrowing.
Glynda: Mr. Yhwach, could you come with me for a minute?
She requested before turning on her heel and walking out of the classroom. Yhwach sighed before walking after her.
Once outside of the classroom she shut the door and stood with her arms crossed staring at him.
Glynda: Why are you in my classroom? If you need assistance, you'll have to wait until after my lesson.
Yhwach: I'm here to observe, not to disrupt. However, is it unreasonable for me to take an interest in the combat teachings of this academy? After all, Ozpin did extend an offer for me to assist in combat training.
Glynda: That's correct. Very well, but you must adhere to my instructions, understood?
Yhwach: Very well then.
The two walked back in and he went back to his spot against the wall and she started to teach. He quietly listened to her, but he drowned out most of it. He only kept his attention on Zaegar and Ginjo.
As Glynda continued her lesson, Yhwach's mind drifted, allowing him to engage in silent conversation with Ginjo and Zaegar within his mind.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) So, what's the plan now? Are You really just going to stand here and watch?
Yhwach: (Mental Link) For now, yes. We'll observe Glynda's teaching methods and assess the combat skills of these students. It may provide valuable insight into their capabilities and weaknesses.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) This is boring. When do I get to set something on fire?
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Patience, Zaegar. There will be opportunities for action soon enough. For now, we must bide our time and gather information.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) I suppose you're right. It wouldn't hurt to learn more about our surroundings and potential allies... or adversaries.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Precisely. Knowledge is power as you said before, and we must use every opportunity to expand our understanding of this world and its inhabitants.
As the class progressed, Yhwach observed the students with a keen eye, noting their combat styles, strengths, and weaknesses. He made mental notes of those who stood out, filing away the information for future reference.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) These students show promise, but they lack discipline and experience. With proper guidance, they could become formidable warriors.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Agreed. It seems that our presence here may serve a dual purpose: to learn from them and to guide them toward their full potential.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Can we guide them by setting them on fire?
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Not quite, Zaegar. We must lead by example and impart our knowledge and wisdom to them. Setting things on fire is not the solution to every problem.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) But If violence doesn't solve your problems, you simply aren't using enough of it.
As Yhwach was about to respond to Zaegar's comment, he was interrupted by Glynda, who kept calling his name insistently.
Glynda: Mr. Yhwach, are you paying attention?
Yhwach turned his attention back to Glynda, his expression composed as ever.
Yhwach: My apologies, Ms. Goodwitch. I was momentarily distracted.
Glynda's gaze was stern as she regarded him, her arms crossed over her chest.
Glynda: I expect you to be fully focused during my class, Mr. Yhwach. Now, as I was saying, are you willing to serve as an opponent for Team RWBY in our demonstration?
Yhwach considered her proposal for a moment before nodding in agreement.
Yhwach: Very well. I accept.
Glynda nodded in satisfaction before gesturing for him to follow her as she led the way to the arena. Yhwach followed calmly, his mind already strategizing for the upcoming demonstration.
As they entered the arena, Yhwach surveyed the surroundings, taking note of the layout and potential obstacles. His eyes flickered with anticipation as he prepared himself for the challenge ahead.
Glynda: Remember, Mr. Yhwach, this is a demonstration. I expect you to show restraint and not harm any of the students.
Yhwach nodded in acknowledgment, his gaze steady as he waited for Team RWBY to arrive.
Soon enough, Team RWBY entered the arena, their expressions a mix of determination and excitement. Yhwach regarded them calmly, his posture relaxed yet poised for action.
Glynda watched from the sidelines, and then Glynda raised her hand before dropping it quickly.
Glynda: Begin!
Ruby and Weiss shot forward straight at Yhwach while Yang and Blake went up the sides to surround him. Yhwach shut his eyes and sighed before opening them and jumping over Ruby's first scythe swing. Weiss used her semblance to catapult Yang and Blake at him while he was in mid-air. Yang threw her fist at him only for him to dodge and used her as a mid-air platform to fly further backward and send her into Blake. Yhwach landed and quickly used his finger to move Weiss's rapier stab out of the way as she shot toward him the second he landed. The Quincy king used her momentum against her and let her fall to the side before tilting his own head to avoid a sniper shot from Ruby.
Yhwach jumped up to avoid another swing from Blake before landing again and bending backward to dodge a swing from Yang. He continued down before placing his hand on the ground and flipped over kicking Yang towards her sister. Weiss and Blake started firing at him using bullets and elemental blasts, all of which were sped up by Weiss's semblance. Yhwach dodged each bullet before speeding past both of them in a split second and knocking them both toward their teammates.
The Quincy king stood up straight while the team regrouped pointed all of their weapons at him and began to fire at him. Yhwach put up his hand and a blue energy appeared in front of his hand before it expanded and became a shield that blocked all of the bullets. The four girls stopped firing in shock at what they were seeing. Yhwach dispersed the reishi shield before pointing his finger at the group. His finger glowed red before he swiped his hand down to his side with a glowing red streak following his movements. Suddenly team RWBY was surrounded by small sparkling dots before the area they were standing on exploded.
The four girls staggered backward, barely managing to remain on their feet. Yhwach's finger emitted a small wisp of smoke, reminiscent of a recently fired gun. He examined it briefly before exhaling.
Yhwach: That was just one finger. I have four more. Care to see what they can do?
Yhwach's words left them to ponder the mere glimpse they had caught of his true power, realizing it was merely the tip of the iceberg.
Glynda: Stop!
Glynda raised her hand. Yhwach looked over at her before moving his hand back down.
Her face showed her utter shock but she quickly wiped it from her face before turning back to her students. It was at this point that Yhwach looked up at a massive transparent screen that showed pictures of team RWBY next to bars that had been dropped past a white line and were all red. There were numbers above the bars and each of Team RWBY's numbers were between ten and seventeen. Yhwach turned to see his face with his bar completely full and his number was at one hundred.
Glynda: In a fight, your scrolls will gauge your aura levels. You will need to use these to find out if you should be on the offensive or defensive. As you can see team RWBY's auras have dropped into the red indicating that they should have retreated in an actual fight or they would be unconscious. Yhwach however, is completely unharmed showing his mastery of knowing when to be defensive or offensive.
As she finished the bell rang for class to end.
Glynda: We will continue this tomorrow.
Yhwach stepped out of the arena and stood by Glynda as all of the students, including team RWBY, left leaving them alone.
Yhwach observed the empty arena for a moment, his expression impassive as he processed the outcome of the demonstration. Glynda stood beside him, her gaze thoughtful as she regarded him.
Glynda: Impressive display, Mr. Yhwach. Your combat prowess is certainly commendable.
Yhwach inclined his head in acknowledgment, though his focus remained inward as he assessed the situation.
Yhwach: It was merely a demonstration of my abilities. There is much more to learn and discover in this world.
Glynda nodded in agreement, her lips pressing into a thin line as she considered their next course of action.
Glynda: Indeed. Your presence here raises many questions, Mr. Yhwach. Questions that I'm sure Ozpin will want answers to.
Yhwach's eyes narrowed slightly at the mention of Ozpin, his mind already calculating the best way to handle the situation.
Their thoughts were interrupted by the door opening to her classroom. The girl Yhwach saved from Cardin was one among three others who came in. They all froze when they realized that Glynda was not alone.
Glynda: Team CFVY, how can I help you?
She asked them.
Girl: No, no, no, no, no, we'll leave you alone we didn't know you had.....company.
The girl with a beret told Glynda. Yhwach didn't understand that but looked down at Glynda who had turned bright red and was stuttering out her response.
Glynda: Coco Adel! I-h-he's n-not...
Zaegar's laughter echoed within Yhwach's mind, his amusement evident as he savored Glynda's embarrassment.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Looks like dear Ms. Goodwitch is flustered. Who knew she had a soft spot?
Ginjo's laughter joined Zaegar's, his voice filled with amusement as he teased Glynda.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) This is priceless.
Yhwach couldn't help but smirk at their antics, though he maintained his outward composure as he regarded Glynda with a calm demeanor.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Enough, both of you. Let us not forget the matter at hand.
Zaegar and Ginjo quieted down at Yhwach's admonishment, though a mischievous glint still lingered in their eyes.
Yhwach: I am the new combat assistant.
Yhwach answered for her. Glynda looked back at him surprised.
The girl named Coco tilted her and pulled her sunglasses down looking Yhwach over.
Coco: Your...Miss G's assistant?
The girl, Yhwach saved from Cardin leaned up and whispered into her ear. Coco's head straightened.
Coco: You're the guy that helped out Velvet? I definitely approve of Miss G!
Glynda began to blush at her statement.
Yhwach's expression remained impassive despite the amused glances shared between Ginjo and Zaegar within his mind. He sighed inwardly, shaking his head at their antics.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Enough. This is not the time for such frivolity.
Zaegar's laughter subsided, though a mischievous gleam still danced in his eyes as he regarded Yhwach.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Oh, come on, Yhwach! You can't tell me you're not enjoying this at least a little.
Ginjo's laughter echoed within Yhwach's mind, his amusement evident in his voice as well.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) He's right, you know.
Yhwach only lightly nodded his head once.
Yhwach: I can't say that my sole intention was to aid her. I simply abhor individuals like Cardin, and witnessing his brash behavior compelled me to intervene.
Man: Honesty, that is a noble trait.
The man with a large sword strapped to his back told him.
Coco: Yatsuhashi's right. You helped her out regardless of your reasons, you have our A-OK.
Coco told him.
Coco: Your fashion sense could use an upgrade though.
The other male team member looked at Coco.
Man #2: You tell that to everyone fashion queen.
Coco didn't even look down at him.
Coco: Because everyone needs a little bit of help, Fox.
Yhwach tilted his head in confusion but said nothing. The big swordsman walked up to him.
Yatsuhashi: You said you're going to be Miss Goodwitch's combat assistant. Would it be all right if I requested a match between you and us?
Yhwach: That is her decision, not mine. It is her class, I am merely here to assist her.
Yhwach told him emotionlessly. Another fight would help his boredom, but it was her arena.
Yatsuhashi turned to her.
Yatsuhashi: May we?
Glynda looked at Yhwach who had no emotion or visible expression.
Glynda: Why don't we postpone that for a little while? He is still recovering from some in-the-field injuries.
Yatsuhashi bowed to her.
Yatsuhashi: As you wish.
Coco turned everyone around.
Coco: Alright, let's let the teachers have their....alone time.
Coco told everyone before tilting her head down at Glynda and winking.
Yhwach didn't know what she was implying as she and her team left, but Glynda was blushing once more.
As Yhwach stood there, observing Glynda's flushed cheeks, Zaegar's laughter echoed within his mind once again, accompanied by Ginjo's amused chuckles.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Looks like our dear Quincy king is as dense as ever.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) I have to agree with Zaegar on this one. It's quite obvious why Glynda is blushing, isn't it?
Yhwach furrowed his brow in confusion, his mind still focused on the events that had just transpired.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) I fail to see the humor in this situation. Could you enlighten me as to what's so amusing?
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Oh, come on, Yhwach! Even a hollow like me can see it. Glynda obviously has a bit of a crush on you.
Yhwach's eyes widened slightly in realization as Zaegar's words sank in. He glanced back at Glynda, who was now fidgeting nervously under his gaze.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) I see...
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) It seems that our dear Quincy king has attracted the attention of another admirer. Quite the ladies' man, aren't you, Yhwach?
Yhwach sighed inwardly, his expression one of resignation as he processed the situation. It seemed that even in this unfamiliar world, he couldn't escape the attention of those with romantic inclinations.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Let us refrain from making assumptions. It is entirely possible that Glynda's reaction is merely due to embarrassment rather than any romantic interest.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Denial, denial, denial. You're just like Issei the failure!
Yhwach's eyes narrowed slightly at Zaegar's comparison, his patience wearing thin at the hollow's relentless teasing.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Enough, Zaegar. We have more pressing matters to attend to than discussing matters of the heart.
Ginjo's laughter echoed within Yhwach's mind, his amusement evident as he continued to tease Yhwach about the situation.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Oh, but where's the fun in that? Besides, it's not every day we get to witness our dear Quincy King's romantic escapades.
The team stopped once before Fox turned around and asked the Quincy king a question.
Fox: Oh yeah, what's your name teach?
Yhwach: Yhwach. My name is Yhwach.
