Dolores Umbridge, a notorious figure in the world of Harry Potter, was known for being a villain and a nuisance.
In the original book, Umbridge was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts during Harry Potter's fifth year, and later became Hogwarts High Inquisitor and Headmistress in the following year.
These three positions gave her significant power at Hogwarts, allowing her to enforce dictatorial methods against students and teachers.
Umbridge was notorious at Hogwarts for her cruelty and abuse of students.
Her interference in the school affairs, often in an overbearing manner, made her disliked by most students and teachers.
Alaric knew this woman; she was a trusted ally of Fudge, domineering, arrogant, unreasonable, and rigidly oppressive, a person with an insatiable desire for control. Her appearance represented Fudge's will.
Sure enough, the instigator of all this was Cornelius Fudge.
On one hand, with the help of Dumbledore, he became Minister of Magic, but on the other hand, he began to covet his position and power.
Even disregarding Dumbledore's advice, suspecting that Dumbledore wanted to usurp his position as minister.
This Dementor incident had made him lose his reputation, so he was preparing to deal with Alaric, demonstrating his authority through his trial.
Seeing this woman now only indicated that Cornelius Fudge had ill intentions. He wanted to see what this woman was up to.
Sure enough, as soon as Umbridge arrived, trouble followed. Instead of acknowledging Alaric first, she addressed Dumbledore in her nauseating tone.
"Mr. Dumbledore, please take a step ahead. The members of the Wizengamot are waiting for you."
Dumbledore gave Umbridge a meaningful look and smiled, saying, "Oh, is that so? Then I must hasten my steps.
But I suppose you wouldn't bother with someone who lacks understanding, would you?"
"Yes, dear Dumbledore," Umbridge smiled, "Who would bother with an immature child?"
Dumbledore nodded satisfactorily and proceeded forward.
Umbridge immediately smirked at Alaric, but little did he know that Dumbledore's words weren't directed at her.
"Well, Mr. Alaric," watching Dumbledore disappear from sight, Umbridge finally showed her fangs.
"Please hand over all your alchemical items. I suspect they may pose a threat to the Ministry of Magic's employees. After all, you have such a history, don't you?"
"History? Are you referring to those Dementors?" Alaric sneered coldly, "I hope you'd like to get closer to those Ministry employees."
"Enough!" Umbridge screeched, "I don't have time to chat with you here. Quickly hand over all the alchemical items you have with you."
"Oh, well, as long as you can control them," Alaric took out a dragonhide pouch from his pocket, casted with an untraceable extension charm, and handed it over.
An Auror took the pouch and rummaged through it.
He pulled out a silver bell from the pouch.
"Oh, a bell," Umbridge mocked, "Is this your magical item? Is it for keeping cats?"
"No, this is the Soundless Bell, capable of absorbing sound," Alaric looked at her as if she were an idiot.
Seemingly provoked by Alaric's gaze, Umbridge suddenly snatched the bell from the Auror's hand and sharply exclaimed, "Stop joking, Mr. Alaric! How could you possibly..."
But then she couldn't say anything more because she was astonished to find that no matter what she said, her mouth moved in vain, unable to produce any sound.
And she couldn't hear any sound around her, no matter what the other wizards were saying.
She felt there was a curse on this bell, and she must have gone deaf.
"Get rid of it! Get rid of it!"
She nervously screamed at the Aurors, but they just looked at each other, not doing anything, as in their eyes, Umbridge was just opening her mouth continuously without uttering a word.
Finally, Umbridge couldn't bear it anymore; she desperately wanted to throw the bell away.
"I advise against it," Alaric reminded with a suppressed smile, but Umbridge couldn't hear anything. She panicked and threw the bell several meters away.
Alaric had to snap his fingers and cast an Imperturbable Charm on himself.
The next moment, the Soundless Bell was triggered, and all the absorbed sounds erupted simultaneously.
Roars of dragons, screams, explosions, chatter, roars, whistling, all sorts of sounds mixed together, creating a sonic storm in the corridor.
The intense noise seemed to make the air tremble, and cracks appeared on the surrounding walls.
Dust and debris fell from the ceiling, and all the glass shattered...
Umbridge and the Aurors were in a miserable state. T
he Auror closest to the bell was thrown away and fainted on the ground, blood flowing from his ears, obviously ruptured eardrums.
The other Aurors also covered their ears in pain; the intense noise gave them splitting headaches.
Umbridge was relatively lucky because she was the one who threw the Soundless Bell away.
So she didn't suffer too much harm herself, but the intense headache and ringing in her ears still made her suffer for a while.
The thunderous noise from the Soundless Bell almost alarmed the entire Ministry of Magic. Aurors and other staff hurried to the scene, hastily dragging the stunned wizards to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
Some people were busy repairing the damaged buildings with magic, while others helped alleviate the pain of the injured.
When everyone learned that the source of the accident was just this small bell, they expressed deep astonishment.
An old wizard from the Department of Magical Maintenance picked up the bell from the ground, carefully examined it, and exclaimed.
"An extraordinary magical item. Its principle is somewhat similar to Dumbledore's Deluminator. I dare say the creator of this bell is no less skilled in alchemy than Dumbledore."
However, Umbridge's scream interrupted him.
"Curse! This is a curse! That boy cast dark magic on this bell! He wants to kill me with it! He wants me dead! Aurors, why aren't you arresting him?"
The Aurors looked at each other, none of them stepping forward.
"Enough, Dolores!" The old wizard from the Department of Magical Maintenance angrily interrupted her.
"Are you insulting my skills in alchemy? This bell only absorbs and releases sound, there's no dark magic involved! The accident just now was definitely due to someone's mishandling."
With that, he looked excitedly at Alaric, "Is this bell your creation? What a brilliant idea! After Dumbledore, another genius emerges in alchemy."
The old wizard's words sparked a discussion. He was the head of the Department of Magical Maintenance and an authority in alchemy within the Ministry of Magic.
His words made the Aurors have to believe that there was no dark magic involved, and all the accidents were due to Umbridge's own mishandling.
