Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

As her new method of attack was rewarded with something other than simple dodging, Gabriela discovered that the demon was actually pretty good up close. Even so, she was better, and she knew it. The only reason this was dragging on so long was because of how quick he was at dodging and retreating. If he'd stop doing that and just try, she'd have him.

Underneath her determination to win and focus on what she was doing though, Gabriela felt another emotion. This was actually something of a challenge to her because of how the demon was going about dealing with her attack, and she was actually enjoying it. It was frustrating that this was taking so long, but deep down, she knew that she was the better of the two and would win given enough time.

"Don't worry. I'll get you eventually," Gabriela shot back as she pulled back out of range of his sudden kick. As soon as she had her feet properly beneath her again, she rushed forward to ensure he didn't try to get away again.

As soon as she saw him throw something though, Gabriela dropped into a roll, coming back up a few feet away, sparing a glance in the direction his trajectory would've followed. It was only a split second to ensure that he wasn't able to gift her with anymore surprises, but a second was all that was needed for her eyes to hone in on the knife that had bounced harmlessly against a wall a few feet off.

"Thanks for the knife," she grinned, though she didn't immediately spring for it. It was still several feet away, and she'd need to make a good opportunity to get it. With how fast he was, she didn't trust that she could make a run for it and come back up in time to stop whatever attack he made, or worse, that she would look up and find that he'd disappeared.

A new goal now established, when Gabriela started up another series of attacks, she did more than just attack with everything she had. She attempted to lead them closer to the knife, and once they were a few feet off, pushed herself harder, hoping that the new speed and ferocity would take up enough of his attention to give her the leeway she needed.
