Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten

Rennyn thought for a moment she might try, could see the desire burn in her eyes, and he wasn't completely sure he disliked the idea of the angel getting shot right there in front of him. But alas, she was smart enough to drop the weapon and the two were quickly detained.

It was interesting but not entirely surprising, he thought, that he'd one day see the inside of a police car from the back seat in handcuffs, but he was 100% sure he'd have never anticipated being seated next to a hot headed angel.

He turned to watch her as the car pulled away. Though he could tell she had no intentions of showing her emotions, he could see a flicker of discomfort β€” from the unfamiliar motions of the car from the back, or perhaps that the front and back seats were separated with hard (probably damage proof) plastic and pressed tightly against even Rennyn's slightly shorter legs. It was not the most pleasing ride for sure, but at the very least he found enjoyment in the fact that his company obviously felt the same way, and as they arrived at their destination, he stuck his tongue out childishly at the angel when they made eye contact.

Fortunately, the officers didn't see as one helped each of them out of the car and escorted them into the station.

"This isn't the way I pictured myself ending up here," he spoke his thoughts from earlier calmly. The words were mostly a jab at featherhead, but he didn't do anything to quiet the statement, earning a strange look from his armed escort.

"And how did you picture getting here?" the man questioned. Rennyn shrugged, eyeing the man's gun, wondering what it was like to use such a weapon and how easy it'd be for him to get his hands on it, but waved the thoughts away as quickly as they'd come. No use getting distracted by things he shouldn't do. He had to think of a way out of the current situation first.

"I dunno, rebellious teenage antics." Another strange look, and Rennyn was sure a normal youth might not have responded with this exact wording. Oh well.

They were guided straight to what Rennyn assumed were holding cells, and the angel's escort began to speak. "We're going to put the two of you in separate holding cells for now, and will get each of your sides of the story once you've had a chance to calm down." He swung open one cell door and pushed the angel in gently, while Rennyn was guided to one just next to it.

Realistically, the bars weren't really enough protection against the two of them, but he decided to play nice. For now. As long as she did.
