Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Past is Unbearable to Recall

In the following days, Diana behaved very well and did not go out again despite Maddie's insistence. She was thinking about the engagement party that would take place in a week. The last engagement party in her past life was a nightmare. She remembered that because of her foolish behavior, the Matthews family was thoroughly disappointed with her and was not even prepared to fulfill the marriage contract.

John, on the other hand, insisted on holding the engagement party, hoping that she would come. But who knew that she not only absented herself but also called John and cursed him as a cripple, saying that she would never be with him in this lifetime. She had stabbed his already wounded heart once again!

Thinking of her foolish actions in her past life, Diana felt a throbbing pain in her temples. She lay on the bed, repeatedly knocking her head against the pillow in front of her. Dear God, what was she thinking back then???

When Ms. Taylor came in, she saw Diana in a somewhat strange state. She put down the ice cream in her hand and walked to Diana's side, asking in confusion, "Miss Diana, what's the matter?"

Diana looked dejected and said, "I want to die."

Ms. Taylor was taken aback and said, "Miss Diana, please don't be so pessimistic! You're in the prime of your youth, how could you have such thoughts... wait a minute, are you having second thoughts about getting married? This is something that can be discussed. If you really don't want to get married, it's okay..."

Watching Ms. Taylor's flustered expression, Diana felt both amused and touched. "No, it's not like that. I'm not being pessimistic, I just feel like I've done too many stupid things in the past." Diana bounced off the bed like a fish, "Let's not talk about it, it's all in the past."

"This time, everything will be different!" Diana thought to herself.

Ms. Taylor breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Diana was okay. She offered an ice cream to Diana and said, "It's hot outside. Have some ice cream."

Diana obediently took the ice cream, which had a creamy, refreshing taste that melted in her mouth. As she was savoring the ice cream, she heard the sound of a car pulling up in the yard downstairs. It was only 2 o'clock in the afternoon, could it be that her father came back early? Curious, Diana ran to the window and looked out. She saw a white Porsche slowly driving into the yard. Then the car door opened, and Andrew stepped out in a dark gray suit. He was tall, elegant, and had a noble temperament, like a slender jade tree. It was Andrew!

Diana's eyes lit up as she suddenly remembered something. "Ms. Taylor, I'll save the ice cream for later. I need to go out now!" Diana exclaimed, sprinting down the stairs. Andrew had just stepped into the living room when he heard a crisp call. "Andrew!" He turned around and saw Diana running down the stairs in a blue dress, resembling her mother with her delicate and pure appearance. As soon as he saw his little sister, Andrew's warm face softened immediately. Diana rushed into his arms and asked, "Andrew, why are you back?"

"I finished everything at work early today and wanted to come home and see you," Andrew replied, gently rubbing her nose with his hand and looking indulgently at her. "What if you fell while running so fast?"

"Andrew, I actually need to go buy something. Let's go out," Diana said excitedly. She was determined to attend the engagement party and prepare something special for John to surprise him.

Andrew was being held by her arm and reluctantly led outside. Just as they entered the courtyard, a servant carrying a vase suddenly "bang" and dropped it in front of them. "Ah!"

Diana was about to ask if she was okay, but then saw the person on the ground slowly lift their head with a face of grievance. Once she recognized who it was, Diana prepared to reach out her hand, but immediately pulled it back. It was Olivia! She thought that after being driven out, Olivia would be obedient and stay put, but she didn't expect her to still crave attention! A hint of disgust flashed in Diana's eyes.

Others may not know what Olivia was up to, but Diana was very clear. Olivia had always wanted to marry into a wealthy family like Serena and become a rich wife. And her target was Andrew. I

n her past life, Diana knew that after Olivia set her sights on Andrew, she foolishly helped to set them up. Although Andrew did not like Olivia, Diana continued to force them together, even making Andrew go out alone with Olivia a few times and even hiring her, someone who hadn't even finished high school, at his company. Diana was so foolish in her past life! Later on, although Andrew did not marry her, he was still unable to find peace because of her and even had a scandal with her.

Finally, unable to stand it anymore, he gave her a large sum of money and she left. As Diana thought about this, a sense of maliciousness grew in her heart.

Olivia sat on the ground, her injured hand extended with a somewhat aggrieved expression towards Andrew. "Sir, I didn't expect you to come back so soon. Did I disturb you?"

Diana's skin crawled at the sound of Olivia's voice. She couldn't help but think that Olivia had purposely waited for Andrew's car to arrive before putting on a show. Last time Diana had dealt with Olivia, Andrew wasn't around, so he didn't know anything about their relationship.

When he saw Olivia in a black maid uniform, his brows furrowed, "What are you doing here?" Andrew wondered, confused. Andrew thought it was strange that Olivia and Diana were as close as sisters and that Olivia had always been wearing Diana's branded clothes.

"I've changed jobs recently," Olivia murmured, glancing nervously at Diana. She spoke softly and vaguely because she knew that if she had a falling out with Diana, Andrew would side with Diana. That wasn't her intention. She wanted to show Andrew her vulnerable side, hoping to gain his sympathy and bring them closer together. Andrew was gentle in nature and must be kind to his staff, so he wouldn't ignore her.

As expected, Andrew took his hand out of his suit pocket, as if considering helping Olivia up. But suddenly, Diana grabbed his arm and, imitating Olivia's tone, said in a coquettish voice, "Andrew, you scared me to death~" Olivia couldn't help but frown at this cutesy tone. What the hell!

Andrew paused and turned to look at her, "What's wrong?"

"It's all Olivia's fault, she couldn't even hold a vase properly and suddenly dropped it in front of me, scared me to death!" Diana complained with a pout. It was clear to anyone that she was being affected.

Andrew hugged her shoulder and said in a soothing voice like a child, "Okay, don't be afraid..."

Faced with Diana's overly affected mannerisms, Olivia was stunned, "Sir, I'm hurt..."

"But it's just a minor scratch, can't you get up?" Andrew's tone was calm but there was already a hint of annoyance.

Olivia was startled and quickly got up. "Sir, I, I didn't mean to..."

"It's not me you need to apologize to, it's Diana," Andrew frowned and spoke slowly.

Olivia almost thought she had misheard. How could Diana, that tricky person, be so easily scared?! It must have been intentional. Andrew was such a smart person, couldn't he see through it? Olivia's anger boiled inside her. She already knew that the Thompson brothers were obsessed with their sister, but she never expected it to be to this extent! But she didn't want to leave a bad impression on Andrew, so she forced herself and apologized to Diana, "I'm sorry..."

"Forget it. I'm not that petty. You don't need to apologize, Olivia. You can go talk to Mr. Cooper yourself about how much the broken vase costs, and we'll deduct it from your salary." Diana suddenly spoke up, waved her hand, and made a magnanimous gesture.

Olivia's apology got stuck in her throat, leaving her dumbfounded. What?! Deduct it from her salary! She still hadn't recovered her senses when Diana dragged Andrew by the arm and hurriedly walked away. Hmph, dreaming of getting Andrew's attention? No way!

Olivia stood there, eyes wide open, stunned for half a moment. When she came back to her senses, she bit her teeth in unwillingness, and her lungs were about to burst with anger.

"Diana, you cunning bitch! You are even more cunning than me!", Olivia thought.

On the other side, Diana happily sat in the passenger seat of Andrew's car. As soon as she fastened her seatbelt, Andrew extended his slender fingers to adjust his gold-rimmed glasses, and a glint flashed in his eyes. He looked at Diana with a slight smile, making her feel a bit uneasy. "Why are you staring at me?" she asked.

"Did you enjoy your acting?" Andrew couldn't help but tease her.

Diana was taken aback and then stuck her tongue out. "Was it too much?"

"If I didn't realize it was just an act, I'd be blind," Andrew chuckled. However, he was confused. "Why did you suddenly turn on Olivia? Your relationship has always been good, hasn't it?"

"Who has a good relationship with her? She takes advantage of me every day and takes my things. It's good enough that I haven't kicked her out yet..." Diana pouted and complained, "Andrew, you should watch out for her too!"

Upon hearing this, Andrew was surprised at first, but then he breathed a sigh of relief. Great...Andrew was overjoyed! Whatever the reason, now that Diana didn't care about Olivia, he could ignore her too. Andrew could see right through Olivia's thoughts with just one glance. The only reason he had been lenient towards her was to save face for Diana. But now, he didn't have to anymore.

Feeling great, Andrew rubbed Diana's head with his hand. "So, where do you want to go?"

"To the lumber market, wherever it's expensive, I need a good piece of wood!" Diana exclaimed.

Andrew furrowed his brows, feeling a bit puzzled, but then he suddenly realized something. A glimmer of light flashed in his eyes. "Are you trying to...?"

Diana giggled. "You guessed it!"

At the engagement banquet this time, she was determined to shock everyone and win the favor of the Matthews family!
