Diana was stunned. Wasn't it supposed to be a week? It was only the fifth day tomorrow.
[Little girl: Why so soon? It's not even been a week yet?]
[John mate: The surgery results were better than expected, so I came earlier.]
Oh, that's how it is... Diana thought for a moment, it didn't seem to be a problem.
[Little girl: Well, have a safe journey!]
As John read her message, his handsome brows furrowed slightly, revealing a hint of displeasure. He was upset that she hadn't offered to pick him up as she had promised earlier. Did she forget? How could he gently remind her? John pondered deeply, feeling that talking to girls was much harder than managing a company. On the other hand, Diana, completely oblivious to John's thoughts, was already imagining all sorts of scenarios with the CEO on the other end of the phone. As John remained silent, Diana typed out another message:
[Little girl: Take care and rest well, see you tomorrow.]
John's heart skipped a beat. "See you tomorrow?" Did this mean she would come to pick him up after all? The tension in his face immediately dissipated, and his usual icy expression was replaced by a faint sense of delight. He typed back with a single word:
[John mate: Alright.]
Holding her phone in her hands, Diana pouted at the screen. "Just one word?" she thought. "Can't he say more?"
Pressing her phone to her chest, she thought about how she could surprise John tomorrow.
Despite having to pick up John the next day, Diana stayed up all night doing wood carving. Time was running out, so she had to make the most of it. Eventually, Diana became too exhausted and fell asleep in her room, only waking up when her alarm went off. As she got up to open the door, she heard someone knocking urgently. Diana rubbed her eyes and walked over to slowly open the door.
"Diana, are you...?" Maddie stood at the door, her sentence cut off by the sight before her. She widened her eyes in horror at Diana, who was standing there like a ghost with bloodshot eyes and dark circles under them, holding a slender knife in her hand. "D-Diana, what are you doing?"
Diana replied, "Nothing, just preparing to cut some fruit. Do you need something?"
"I just wanted to ask you about Luke," Maddie said, lowering her voice and moving closer to Diana. "Come on, let's go to your room and talk."
"No thanks, I need to take a shower," Diana said as she closed the door with a snap, leaving Maddie standing outside, feeling puzzled. Diana seemed like she hadn't slept all night. Was she troubled by something? Maddie thought for a moment before a sudden realization hit her. Yesterday, Diana seemed fine until she talked about Luke, then she became a little melancholic. Could it be that Diana was worried about Luke?
Maddie was thrilled with her own guesses. Great! Since Diana couldn't let go of Luke, she had to give her another push! It would be even better if Diana stuck to Luke again and couldn't attend her engagement party with John. Diana, who was rubbing bubbles, was still unaware that her hard-working appearance had been misunderstood by Maddie. After taking a shower and quickly tidying up, she prepared to pick up John. She wondered if he would be happy to see her at the airport later? Every time they met in the past, they tortured each other. He always had a gloomy expression and she had never seen him smile before... Thinking about this, Diana was really a bit impatient.
But then, she realized something was not right. Was she actually looking forward to meeting John? Oh no, maybe she hadn't slept all night and her mind was a little confused. Diana shook her head and slapped her face, then came downstairs with a piece of bread in her mouth.
As soon as she came downstairs, she saw Maddie sitting downstairs with a mysterious look on her face, as if she had been waiting for her for a long time. Seeing Diana's neat appearance, Maddie immediately stood up and said, "Diana, are you going out?" Diana didn't want to deal with her persistent "friend" and simply replied, "Hmm."
Maddie suddenly spoke up, "Are you in such a hurry to go out to see... that one?" She winked and acted like a good girlfriend.
Diana was puzzled, "You know?" How did Maddie know she was going to pick up John? She quickly realized that Maddie couldn't possibly know John's whereabouts, so she probably misunderstood something. But Diana was already too busy to deal with Maddie, so she mumbled, "Um... it's getting late, I have to go."
"Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret for you!" Maddie said confidently.
Diana felt confused and just replied casually before walking out the door. Once outside, she remembered she had no driver! Lynn had taken Ms. Taylor to the hospital, Dad and Andrew were at work, and only Serena had a car. She didn't want to stoop so low as to ask that woman for a ride. Diana's gaze fell on the spare garage, and a mischievous smile spread across her face. It was time to bring out her beloved motorcycle!
At Cloud City Airport, the door of a business car slowly opened, and Ethan pushed John out in a wheelchair. John sat on the wheelchair, looking slightly downcast. Even in this posture, he still exuded a cold and arrogant feeling that made people not dare to look directly at him. As they approached the exit, John's heart started to beat faster and faster. He would soon see her. When they were almost at the exit, John suddenly reached out his hand and said, "Wait a minute."
"Boss, what's wrong?" Jackson hurried over.
"Bring me the cane," John said slowly. He didn't want to sit in the wheelchair. He wanted to stand up and go see his girl. He wanted... to hug her.
Jackson hesitated for a moment, but seeing John's determined eyes, he obediently brought the silver cane. John supported himself with the cane and slowly stood up. Then, step by step, he walked towards the exit, filled with anticipation and longing that almost overflowed from his chest. The group of people followed behind him, carefully guarding him, afraid that he might have an accident. When they reached the exit, John's sharp eyes swept over the area, but he didn't see the figure he wanted to see.
He paused in his steps, and his eyes became slightly colder. She didn't come? Did she lie to him again? At the thought of this, the hopeful look in John's eyes instantly became frosty. Ethan and Jackson exchanged a glance, feeling a deep sense of pressure. Just then, a person wearing an oversized dinosaur costume came over, walking clumsily and carrying a bouquet of blue roses. As soon as he got close, John's bodyguard stopped him. The person in the costume was so anxious that he stomped his feet. Ethan looked annoyed. It was already so late, and some inexplicable person came to cause trouble! He frowned and gestured to the guard next to him. Two bodyguards walked over and one of them grabbed the costume's arm, about to take him away.
Just as they were about to drag him away, Diana couldn't hold back any longer. "Wait!" Upon hearing this crisp voice, everyone suddenly felt that something was wrong. This voice...
Ethan and Jackson abruptly turned their heads and saw the almost-dragged-away doll. Its headgear had come off, revealing a little face with a pitiful expression. "Diana?!!!" Ethan remarked on her unique entrance. Diana looked nonplussed. "What's going on here...?" She had planned to surprise him, but it almost turned into a scare!
"Little girl?" John was momentarily stunned, then his eyes lit up with delight. She had actually come! He looked intently at Diana and walked over to her.
Diana was both surprised and overjoyed to see him standing and walking. She moved towards him with an awkward gait, gasping for air. "I've been waiting for you for so long..."
She had ridden her motorbike all the way here in preparation, but the police had stopped her, thinking she was underage. Sigh, looking young was also a kind of trouble. She looked at John standing in front of her, unable to contain her excitement. "Your leg is healed!? You recovered so fast, you can even stand!"
"Um," John replied, looking at the girl he had longed for, his emotions in turmoil. He had almost thought that...she had abandoned him again!
"Oh, by the way!" Diana suddenly grinned mysteriously and then took something out of her large doll suit. It was a bunch of blue roses! "Welcome back!"
Even Jackson and Ethan behind her were stunned by her actions. Did they see it right? Was Diana playing for real or was there a hidden knife in the flowers? John almost couldn't believe what he was seeing. Blue roses. There were nineteen of them, and she had bought them on purpose, or was it just a coincidence?
"Do you know what nineteen blue roses represent?" Diana looked at John and asked somewhat shyly. John's eyes dimmed, and his chest began to beat rapidly. He knew, of course, he knew. He had wanted to tell her the meaning of nineteen blue roses!
Seeing that he remained silent, Diana was disappointed. It seemed that he did not know.
