Diana knew what Maddie was trying to do, so she replied vaguely, "I don't know if it was him." She sighed, "Although I do hold some resentment towards him, I regret how things turned out."
Upon hearing Maddie's words, a glimmer of light shone in Maddie's eyes. "So, you still like him?" Of course, after seeing how persistent Diana was about Luke, it couldn't be said that she didn't like him anymore!
"Uh-huh," Diana replied impatiently. She was afraid she would throw up if she had to say that she liked Luke herself.
"Okay then. When we get back, find a chance to explain to Luke properly. He will definitely forgive you," Maddie said, relieved.
"You can say that, " Diana said in a slow voice.
Maddie felt a weight lifted off her chest and quickly sent a message to Luke, then put her phone away. The group of them then set off in a grand procession. As they walked into the elevator, around the corner of the hallway, a figure emerged slowly.
The man picked up his phone and spoke softly into it, "Jackson."
Jackson, who was in New York, picked up his phone and glanced at the man sitting on the bed.
John slowly adjusted his cufflinks and met Jackson's gaze. He spoke in a deep voice, "What is it?"
Jackson nodded and then put his phone on speaker. He silently prayed that the news he was about to hear wouldn't make his boss angry.
"Tom, what's the situation?"
"Just now, Miss Thompson and Luke left the building one after the other..."
Jackson's heart skipped a beat. The air around him suddenly turned cold. Was this the excitement he was going to experience? He glanced at John, tried to calm himself down and asked, "Is there any other news?"
He hoped there wasn't any more news.
"Yes." Tom took a deep breath and described what he had just seen, "After Miss Thompson came out of the bathroom, she suddenly beat up Luke!" Tom was shocked but more excited, "I didn't expect Miss Thompson, who looks so delicate, to beat up Luke! She's amazing!"
Jackson stood on the other end of the line, still trying to process the news. He spoke slowly,
"Are you sure it was Diana?"
It didn't make sense. Wasn't Diana madly in love with Luke? Could it be because of jealousy?
"I'm absolutely sure! It was Miss Thompson!" Tom's voice was getting louder.
The quick and fierce blows just now were not something one could do without a strong foundation in martial arts. Jackson, amazed, put away his phone and turned to John beside him. He had heard Tom's words too.
John froze, his handsome brows slightly furrowed in surprise. He was not surprised at Diana's skill - she had learned Sanda for a long time when she was younger, he knew that. What surprised him was that she had hit Luke. The guy she always talked about and adored. He couldn't believe she would lay a hand on him unless... she really didn't care about him anymore. The thought made John's heart beat faster with hope, as if a withered tree had suddenly blossomed in spring.
Jackson felt the tension around him dissipate and took a deep breath. Finally, he was alive. He grabbed his phone and through gritted teeth said, "Tom, speak faster next time!"
"Yes, Jackson," Tom replied. "Miss Thompson and her team have left. They said they're heading to the Diohn Club. What do you want me to do?"
Diohn Club? Wasn't that the boss's property? "I see. Keep a close eye on Miss Thompson and report any unusual activity immediately."
Tom nodded repeatedly before hanging up the phone.
Jackson cautiously looked at John, but his handsome face remained as cold as ice, revealing no emotion.
John calmly said, "Notify Diohn Club and tell them to prepare."
"Yes." Although Jackson had anticipated this outcome, he couldn't help but sigh in his heart. The boss cared too much about Miss Thompson.
Thinking that there was nothing else, Jackson was about to leave when he heard John suddenly say, "Also, stop following the little girl."
"Understood."
From now on, John would try to trust her.
"Diana, you'd better not disappoint me."
Diana and her companions arrived at the Diohn Club in Cloud City. Unlike the bustling city center, the club was situated on the edge of a scenic area, giving off a serene vibe. The building was predominantly in cool tones, exuding a sense of mystery and grandeur. While it was labeled as a club, it occupied several thousand square meters, with a golf course and a horse racing track at the back, and a massive parking lot beside it, filled with luxury cars that would make anyone gasp at their prices.
Despite being born into wealthy families, Diana's group was taken aback by the grandeur of the club. Brandon, in particular, couldn't contain his vanity and proudly flaunted his card, urging his friends to follow him. Ava quickly linked her arm with his, striding confidently ahead.
Lily, noticing Diana's silence, mocked her, "Weren't you acting all high and mighty earlier? But now that we're at the Diohn Club, you're too scared to say anything!"
Diana looked at her with disdain, "It's you who doesn't dare to speak up, how rare!" It was true that Diohn Club was nice, but compared to the Matthews' old mansion and John's villa, it was nothing special.
"Hmph, we'll see if you can still say that once we're inside!" Lily was convinced that Diana was just putting on a show. While the Thompson family's status in high society was slightly better than her own, it wasn't that much of a difference. Diana's worldly experience wasn't much different from Lily's.
Maddie looked at her and said, "Diana, enough with the act. You've never been to a place like this before, and we all know it." Hearing Maddie speak, the others were even more certain that Diana was just talking big.
Diana gave Maddie a glance and said, "Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean I haven't seen it. Maddie, our upbringing is different." Her smile was ambiguous, and it made Maddie suddenly feel uneasy.
Lily was annoyed and said, "Stop pretending, you and Maddie grew up together. What are you trying to do?"
Few people knew that Maddie's mother had married James later on, and they didn't know that Maddie and her mother were originally servants in the Thompson household. Maddie told them that she had been adopted by James and had grown up in a wealthy family.
Maddie was afraid that Diana would reveal her true background and quickly interrupted, "Let's not stand here. We finally made it here. Let's go in."
The group ceased their hostilities for the moment and walked towards the Diohn Club. When they arrived at the entrance, a receptionist greeted them, "Welcome to the Diohn Club. I am the receptionist. Could you please show me your invitation cards?"
Ava urged Brandon impatiently, "Come on, show it to them!"
Brandon looked up, and in front of the expectant crowd, he handed over the invitation card in his hand. The receptionist placed it in front of her and checked it before nodding. "Yes, this is indeed our invitation card. Please follow me inside," she said.
Upon hearing this, Brandon felt even more proud. "I heard that if I have an invitation card, I can bring someone in, right?" he asked.
The receptionist politely replied, "Yes, that's correct. You can bring your friend in..."
Upon hearing this, a gleam of excitement flashed in Brandon's eyes.
Brandon turned to the people behind him and said, "You heard it, we can go in now, but before that…" His gaze shifted to Diana and a cold smile appeared on his face. "Diana, you have to publicly apologize to me first."
Upon hearing this, everyone's eyes fell on Diana, who had one hand in the pocket of her jeans. She sneered and asked, "Apologize? Why should I?"
"Because I can get you into Diohn Club!" Brandon shouted. He had been irritated by Diana since the first time he met her today. Did this fool think she could bully him just because she changed her appearance? He had to show her who was boss today!
"Oh? You can get me in? I wasn't planning on relying on you to get into Diohn Club anyway," Diana replied.
The others looked at each other and almost burst out laughing. Ava pointed at Diana and said, "Diana, you're really stupid. What are you trying to do? Force your way in? If you want to die, we won't stop you!"
Lily sneered, "Still pretending? You'll regret it soon enough!" Maddie couldn't help feeling a little pleased at seeing Diana being mocked by everyone. She suppressed her gloating expression and pretended to advise her, "Diana, there's a limit to your lies. Don't make a scene. Apologize to Brandon and let him take you inside. If you keep talking nonsense, I won't be able to help you. You'll have to go back by yourself."
Ignoring the ridicule of the others, Diana remained calm and said, "I'm not the one making a scene. It's Brandon, the arrogant fool who thinks he can really get us in."
