Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Gift from John

"Be careful!" Noah shouted, ready to reach out and stop Brandon. But it was too late, Brandon had already lunged towards Diana.

Diana sat calmly on the couch, unmoving, as Brandon approached her in a rage. But as soon as he got close enough, she locked eyes with him and suddenly kicked out with a swift, decisive move, hitting him squarely on the wrist and sending the bottle of alcohol flying from his hand. Then, she grabbed him by the hair and slammed his head down hard on the table in front of her, causing a crack to appear in the glass.

"Ahhhh!!!" Brandon screamed in agony. All of this happened in a matter of seconds, leaving the onlookers stunned and speechless.

Ava and Lily sat huddled together, both shocked and frightened by what they had just witnessed. Maddie's face had gone white, and she finally realized that Diana really did know how to fight.

"I'm sorry! Diana, please let me go! I really messed up!" Brandon's head was still spinning from the blow he had received. When he came to his senses, he began to wail and howl like a ghost.

Maddie exclaimed in shock, "Diana, are you going to kill him? Stop it now!"

Diana sneered. Dealing with trash like him was nothing but a dirty task for her! Her eyes flashed with a cold light and she tossed Brandon to the ground.

"Here's the deal, Brandon. If you want to leave this place today, you have to strip naked and walk out of here!" Her gaze was threatening, not playful.

Brandon's legs were shaking. He had messed with a lunatic! Under Diana's deadly stare, he trembled as he took off his shirt, then his jeans. He was left in just his underwear. He looked at Diana with pleading eyes, hoping for mercy.

Noah couldn't bear to watch any longer and said, "Diana, let's just forget about it. Why do you have to make it like this?"

Diana looked at him and sneered, "He was the one who started it with me. Now he deserves it! If I were the one who lost today, do you think Brandon would let me off easily?"

Noah remained silent at her words. It was true that Brandon had pulled a few people together and schemed against her first. He knew Brandon well. If the situation were reversed today, Brandon would certainly not let her off easily, and even the others were waiting to see her fail.

Diana let out a cold laugh, her tone full of sarcasm. Brandon was trembling with fear. Was his life going to end here today?

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door of the room. It swung open to reveal the club manager of Diohn Club. Upon seeing the bizarre scene within the room, the manager's eyes flickered for a second, before calmly addressing Diana, who was standing by the sofa, "Miss Thompson, could you come out for a moment? There's a phone call for you."

"Someone's looking for me?" Diana looked puzzled. She tilted her head and thought for a moment before nodding, "Alright, let's go." With that, a lovely smile spread across her fair, angelic face, making her look even more beautiful than before. It was hard to believe that this same angel had just nearly beaten someone to death.

As Diana stepped out of the room, she almost stepped on someone lying in front of the door. "What the hell?!" She couldn't help but curse. Upon closer inspection, she realized that it was Luke lying there, still covered in vomit from his recent trip to the bathroom. Diana wrinkled her nose in disgust. How did she ever fall for this idiot in her previous life?

"Miss Thompson, it looks like this one came with you. Shall we take him back to the room?" The manager inquired.

"No need," Diana replied, looking at Luke lying unconscious on the floor with a hint of disgust in her eyes. "Just leave him outside, as long as he doesn't die."

This scumbag, who had deceived her so badly with Maddie in her previous life, was going to get what he deserved in this life.

"Very well," the manager respectfully responded without even asking for a reason. After all, the boss had instructed them to do whatever Miss Thompson said.

Diana walked out the door, wondering, "Who was looking for me?"

"It's Mr. Matthews," the manager said.

Diana's eyes widened. "Which Mr. Matthews?! It couldn't be..."

"It's the young master from the Matthews family," the manager didn't say John Matthews's name directly, but anyone who heard these words knew who he was referring to.

Diana immediately understood. John? Wasn't he supposed to be sleeping? Why was he calling and not using her phone? And why did he have someone come and tell her instead of calling her directly? Diana was confused.

The manager seemed to sense her confusion and explained, "Miss Thompson, the boss said that he tried calling your phone but no one answered, so..."

Upon hearing this, Diana quickly pulled out her phone and saw that she had over a dozen missed calls.

Diana felt a pang of guilt. She was so engrossed in playing dice with those "friends" that she didn't pay attention to her phone. She immediately dialed him back. As she waited on the line, she couldn't help but wonder what John could possibly want at this hour. Her heart raced with anticipation and nervousness. However, she didn't wait so long, as John answered within seconds.

"Hey, why haven't you been answering my calls?" John's magnetic voice came through the line.

"Oh...haha, we were just gathered together, so I didn't hear it ringing," Diana replied, laughing nervously.

"What were you guys doing?"

"Just chatting and eating, you know, us girls. We're not really doing anything exciting," Diana replied, her face flushing with embarrassment.

As Diana spoke with John, the manager glanced around at the scattered dice and Brandon, who was forced to strip down to his underwear. He fell silent, unsure of what to say.

"Anyway, why did you call?" Diana asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Despite herself, she was still nervous at the sound of John's voice.

John was caught off guard by her question. Why did he call? He couldn't very well tell her he just wanted to hear her voice. He put his finger to his lips and thought for a moment before finally mustering up the courage to say, "It's nothing, really."

"Huh? So, he just wanted to see me?" Diana thought, "Ah, come on, if you miss me, just say it! This man is so stubborn and can't let go of his pride!" She was happy to hear from John but was also a bit frustrated with his lack of straightforwardness.

Just as Diana was about to speak up, John said, "One week."

"One week for what?" Diana asked.

"I'll be back in one week," John replied.

"Okay, I'll come pick you up," Diana said, feeling her heart pounding in her chest. She wondered why she was getting nervous again and placed a hand on her chest to calm herself down.

"Alright," John replied, then added, "That's settled then."

"OK, see you then. Bye! " Diana put down her phone and hung up.

Diana felt a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. She couldn't wait to see John again, but she also didn't know where their relationship was headed. She decided to take things one step at a time and enjoy the moment. She took a deep breath and patted her chest, then met the complex gaze of her manager and smiled confidently. "Manager, you won't tell John about today, will you?"

"What happened, Miss Thompson? I haven't seen anything today," the manager replied, adjusting his glasses.

Diana was very pleased with his reaction and patted his shoulder. "You're a good manager. I'll give you a raise later."

Being a boss felt great, even if it was just a figurehead position. The manager continued, "Miss Thompson, Mr. Matthews instructed me that if you come to Diohn Club, he has a gift for you and wants me to take you somewhere."

"A gift?" Diana immediately perked up. "Wait a minute, let me get something from my room, and then we can go!" She was in a great mood and hurried back to her room.

As she entered, she saw Ava holding Brandon's pants, trying to get him to put them on. Brandon was hesitant and frozen in place when he saw Diana come in. "I didn't do anything!" he said, trembling.

Diana looked at him with contempt and thought, "Hmph, such a coward! He thinks he can still compete with me with this little ability?" She then rolled her eyes at him and walked over to the sofa, grabbing her bag from beside it.

"I'm going to head out now," Diana said, grabbing her bag with excitement.

Maddie asked urgently, "Diana, where are you going? Aren't we going back together?"

Diana hesitated for a moment. She didn't want Maddie to come with her to see that gift. So, she pretended to be hesitant and said, "I just heard from the manager that Luke is missing. I'm not sure if he got drunk and passed out somewhere. I'm going to look for him."

Upon hearing this, Maddie's attitude immediately changed. "Okay, you should go quickly! He's taken care of you by drinking so much, so you should go take care of him now." Maddie urged Diana, unable to hold back her impatience.

As Diana noticed the gleeful expression on her face, she couldn't help but roll her eyes inwardly. She then flung her bag behind her and headed towards the door. As she passed by Brandon, she suddenly stopped in her tracks and extended her hand.

"What are you doing?!" Brandon was taken aback and instinctively held onto his head. But then he was surprised to see that Diana had only yawned.

"Haa~~(she yawned), yawning. Haven't you seen it before? Why are you making a big deal out of it?"

This person really couldn't help but be scared!
