Chapter 11 - Back to Square-1

'I ended up leveling up eight times. I guess solo clearing a dungeon is that good. Coupled with the rewards, I've already left everyone behind with this.' After all, except someone was from an ultra rich family and got awakened ahead of time and started gaining stat points and leveling up, they would all start at similar level of strength excluding their skills, techniques and abilities.

The way this world worked, the experience points given by weaker monsters or creatures didn't get reduced the higher a person goes in level. However, after reaching level ten is when the real world begins, because from there on out, the experience points needed to attain the next level up is usually far greater than all the others combined. Coupled with the fact that the information of how much experience points are gotten after killing a monster or creature were not shown, it was extremely difficult to keep good track of.

Instead of heading home for the day, Ren felt that he could still reach one more hidden dungeon that was not too far away, so he headed there first. On getting there, no matter how much he looked for the dungeon, he could not find it.

'The only explanation for this is that the dungeons haven't formed yet… guess I came too late.' With that, he didn't bother going to the others since they were too far away and returned to his dorm.

Once he reached his room around the afternoon, the first thing he did was take a shower, then he just sat on his bed still wearing his towel round his lower half.

He had been delaying so he could savor the moment when he would open his system to see all the things he had worked hard for.

Looking at his system, Ren could see that he was now level 9 after leveling up eight times from level one, then he had 46 free stat points to do as he liked and his technique had also been added to his stat window. Along with those was the skill point, but for now Ren decided to leave it be.

With every level up, there are five stat points given to be distributed individually and not by the system, and once distributed, it can never be gotten back. Because of this, one needed to be sure what path they wished to take in life, after understanding the basics like class and such. Anyway, that was the entire point of highschool.

Since there was a fixed amount of stat points that every level up provided, humans naturally sought other forms of power and ways to grow without relying on leveling up alone. One of these ways was through drinking potions that either grant permanent increase in one stat, or the one that grants free stats. Anyway, this was something that would come in later on in the original story, so Ren was definitely planning towards it.

After thinking it through rather quickly, Ren was sure where he would be investing his points. He put 13 points each into 'agility' and 'strength' which were the major areas he was lacking, then the remaining 20, he dumped everything into his 'force'.

The reason for this decision was because the skill lightning impulse was quite tasking on the energy as time passes, and maybe it was because of the skill level being low, but after a period of use, it starts burning more force than usual, though nothing to raise eyebrows.

Now, Ren's agility was 23 and so was his strength, and his force was now 35, which for someone who hasn't even started classes, was incredible.

As for the other things like the shaman's staff and health potions, Ren simply stashed them away for the time being, in his inventory.

Like that, the first week passed by quickly.

Ren tried looking for more dungeons, but he didn't have any luck like he did the first time, it would appear that the various dungeons were yet to form.

Since that was the case, Ren decided to invest his time into reading and studying in other to acquire the needed knowledge for making skills and techniques. He even met the main character, Ray, one day, and as the power of the main character would have it, he wasn't even depressed that his power was inferior… well, that was normal, unlike Isaac who was more frustrated than depressed at the point in time.

. . .

After the first week was through and a new week began, the academy started with the matriculation, first thing, and all the new students were ushered in with smiles and expectations.

On the first day of classes, Ren was already contemplating whether he should even attend.

'It's not like this stuff will help me long term. The military don't care, as long as you can kill the enemy, whether you eat shit or veggies, they accept with applauds.' Even though Ren's thinking was a bit biased to his current feelings at the time, he wasn't completely off the rail either.

Anyway, to say the least, 'should I really keep to these classes? God, I can't believe I'm back to square one, and learning history… of all things.' To say the least, Ren was exhausted, not because he had worked too much, but because he had spent hours listening to things he already knew. For the time being, there had never been anything that he had not already in the original story.

'To think the self-manufactured words of an author would go on to become actual theories an entire world relies on…' It couldn't be more mind blowing than that.

"Following the story, physical training begins tomorrow… well, the military will always be the military no matter what."

Even though it was called training, it was really just the students sparring against one another to get better and such. After that, the student could do personal training if they desired to, but the academy didn't force the students, their growth was solely based off the amount of effort they were willing to put in.

The next day, just as expected, the physical training began. Before they could start facing off against one another however, all the students were taken to the armory to pick their weapons of choice. This was mostly for those that didn't have one themselves, but everybody would normally pick out of the weapons there since the others preferred to preserve their own weapons which they obviously hold in better regard than the normal quality weapons found in the academy armory for first years.

Ren himself naturally picked a sword, in fact, when he entered the armory, all the swords began trembling lightly for a good amount of seconds before calming down, though, not completely.

He had been focused on the lightning aspect and almost forgot there was also a sword, though with his skill, Ren wasn't so keen on getting a sword for the time being, and since he really wasn't going to be using the academy sword as his main weapon, he wasn't too skeptical when picking one.

"Great, if everyone has finished picking their preferred weapon, let's head to the training area right away!" Sergeant Jones said quite loudly.

'I already feel like I know what's going to happen during this training.'
