Chapter 6 - Room Placement

While the old men argued amongst each other, the students were taken to complete their registration to become fully fledged students of the Grand Phoenix Academy.

If Ren was to complete the registration, he would have to go through transfer processes before he could switch to another school. Though, with a general having a hand in the transfer, even if it were the middle of the school year, it would still happen without a hitch.

Anyway, the registration process wasn't high-jacked and went smoothly.

When they got to the place where it would be done, they found quite the number of students in line. It was clearly impossible to clear more than a thousand students so quickly, so the queue was lengthy in all the stations.

The sergeant who led the five of them just brought them to the first station after they got to the registration building.

"Please, process these five before you go on." He said in a casual tone.

"Huh?" The first thing the young man behind the desk did was look at who gave that order, then he noticed the badge on his left breast indicating he was a sergeant. "Ah, sergeant, but, the ones who have been waiting…"

"I was sent by General Othman himself, so I don't think we have a choice." The sergeant said with a sigh.

"Ah, is that so?" Of course, the one doing the registrations didn't dare question authority, he wasn't even part of the military to even think of having such metallic balls. Besides, no one would be brave enough to use the name of a general the way they pleased.

Without much time, the registration was done, and each one of them received a wrist watch, a set of uniforms, shoes, and other little necessities.

'The standard stuff you receive, huh? Though, I look forward to seeing the cool things this wrist watch can do.' Ren thought to himself. It wasn't surprising, after all, this world's technological advancement, with the study of alien technology, had gone farther than the earth he came from. This watch could do things like create holograms and display hovering screens and such, it was really futuristic.

While the five of them left following the sergeant, the other students showed different emotions had definitely had varying opinions. Some were pissed that they had been pushed back and ignored just like that, some were fascinated at the power difference and wondered who the five students were, while most who recognized the students as the ones who caused the most powerful phenomena couldn't even care that they were being chanced at the line.

With the registration finished, it was time to go to the dormitory. This was also where the sergeant left them to their own devices.

"I got room 23 on block D, what about you guys?" Ray asked.

"Oh, we aren't in the same room," Isaac answered.

"Ren, what about you?" Ray asked.

"Same with him," Ren responded pointing his head towards Isaac.

As for the girls, they were coincidentally in the same room.

'Of course. The others will soon resume and fill up the place. As for the other important side character, he is already in his room, and he will meet Ray this night.' Ren was thinking to himself. He was actually pretty impressed that he could still remember the story so perfectly with the type of memory he had. Once he was done reading a book, it would usually slowly fade away, leaving only vague memories, but seems this one was different.

'Then again, why did I have to get a room in that notorious block where all the evil reside?'

They all split up at the end with each person heading to his own room, while the girls went to their dormitory.

'I can't remember any notable person from block G, all it brought to the story was the being the haven for a crime syndicate to infiltrate the school, after all, block G is the 'end zone' in this academy.' Since the allocation of rooms was random, Ren really couldn't complain and point fingers, so he just accepted his new fate.

As for the crime syndicates, well, let's just say, some people have very different thoughts of what the future should be and what direction the human race should go in.

There were quite a few of them in this world, each with their own goals and believes. Some wanted to not only defend against the invading aliens, but reach their own home planet and just eradicate them. Humanity grew in times of pressure after all, they believed that playing it safe was not the way. Then, there were those that didn't even care about the war and just focused on the dungeons. Then of course, there were the ones who just wanted power.

Anyway, since this world worked sort of like a game where one could kill, get experience points and grow stronger, Ren had no problem encountering any of these groups as far as they dropped good equipment after death and offered experience points.

Block G itself was located a little far off the others, and for some reason, the lights along the road to the block were all damaged and dysfunctional, so the place was totally dark, after all, it was night time already.

'Nothing should happen during the first day, I guess.'

Once Ren got there, he was surprised that the place wasn't as run down as he thought, it just seemed abandoned as there were fewer students who wished to live there. His own room was no. 50, which was at the very top before the roof. Given the fact that he was the only one in the room, at least for now, it did seem spacious, at least 4 times bigger than his previous room where the previous Ren had lived for years.

He quickly started unpacking his things, which didn't even take that long since he didn't have much to begin with. After he was done with that, he entered the bathroom for a quick bath, but… 'damn, I knew this was too good to be true.' The bathroom looked like it hadn't been visited in years, and the toilet gave off a scary aura, 'definitely a no go area.'

Ren didn't want to go knocking on people's doors to use their restroom, so he opted to leave the bathroom thing until the next day. He hadn't sweat that much and wasn't exceptionally dirty, so a bath wasn't necessary. On the other hand, there was something else interesting.

He looked through the bag containing all the academy issued out upon registration and quickly took out the watch. With a big smile on his face, he fastened it to his left wrist and waited as it turned on and synchronized with him. Soon, his details were loaded, displaying his level and such, then other things.

Apart from the name, class, and level, there wasn't a way for others to know the other aspects of the system unless the other party had some kind of observation skill or something. The primary skill for this was insight, but since it was personal information, if a person used it on another without permission, it could be taken as provocation, and then the person who had been the victim of the skill could fight back. In such a case, as far as there was no death or excessive damage to the body like unnecessary broken bones and such, it was accepted by the academy rules.

Anyway, what Ren really wanted to see was the hovering screens and holograms, which he got to see in detail, up close and personal. With the wrist watch, there was really no need for phones, it covered for that, and the military would provide all their soldiers with the updated versions on time.

There wasn't really much to do, so Ren thought it a suitable time to look at this system and skills…
