After that day, Raymond took Rachael to his workplace on a daily basis. She didn't complain but her worry for her mummy started showing out more clearly.
Sometimes she would stand in a daze and her eyes would become teary while other times, she would look up from what she was doing and ask,
"When will mummy get better?"
Raymond saw the pain in this little girl's eyes and it painted him as well. There was nothing he could do.
Steve advised that they go through with the surgery because no one knew when Alexa would come around and if they delayed any further, the damage could become unrepairable.
Raymond was hesitant. He wanted to get Alexa's consent. Like hell, he was just using that to cover up his selfish desire to talk to her before the surgery.
He too was scared. He was scared that after the surgery, Alexa just might give up. He was scared that he would never get to talk to her again.
