Chapter 51 [Crevasse 3: Dungeon Design (Part 2)]
"Now, regarding armaments, let's reconsider later... Next is about habitability."
"The concept for the dungeon is groundbreaking."
"Since the design concept is 'a dungeon for the weak,' residents' opinions are crucial. Let's hear from Crevasse's group, who actually live here."
They exchanged glances to decide who would answer, and eventually, one skink represented the group. Oh, the skinks that worked hard during the Vazari operation, and I've given them names. The four skinks are Ein - the one who greeted me first and is speaking now - Zwei, Drei, and Vier. The three slayers are Uno, Dos, and Tres. The three slimes are Un, Deux, and Trois. Each name is a play on numbers in German, Spanish, and French. It's fine; I mentioned this before, right? Simple names are the best. Oh, Win's children are still small and numerous, so they remain nameless for now. I'll have to think about names when they grow a bit more.
"For now... we don't have any complaints. However, if we add layers, we'd like each floor to have water sources. Also, considering creatures of different sizes might enter, it would be good to have passages of varying sizes."
"Hmm, branching small passages extending from the main path. That might be good. Apart from that, structures of various sizes creating hiding spots rather than just cracks and irregularities."
"Crow, if you summon cave bats, please create high places in the ceiling. Also, the ceiling itself should have irregularities."
"For water sources, what about making some areas submerged mazes?"
"If we drill several deep vertical holes in the passages, they could be used not only for hiding but also for ambushes. We can target a dragon's belly from below."
"For water sources, what about swamps or bottomless ponds?"
...
"Various opinions were voiced, but summarizing, is it safe to say the dungeon will have branching paths and lots of holes?"
"It seems cozy for small creatures."
"A nightmare for adventurers."
It seems the design is becoming something like an Earth biotope. I'm not sure if we're building a dungeon or designing a sanctuary. But how do you construct such a structure?
"Wouldn't it be better to dig holes before becoming dungeon walls?"
If so, maybe while the dungeon seed is still small. Won't that get busy, though?
...
"Finally, about how to make the dungeon seed grow. Can we follow the same procedure as when we resurrected Romulus and Remus and nurtured the dungeon?"
"I think it should be fine. Just, while the dungeon seed is small, provide a bit of magic gradually."
Alright then, let's go with that.
