CLANK!
The sound of glass shattering throw me out of sleep. My eyes shot open and I raised my head, the room was completely dark, I could see nothing, but I could sense someone.. something, standing in the shadows.
"Who's there?." I asked forcing myself to immediately generate night vision.
I saw a dark form move and immediately, I was sure that there was something darker than the shadows and it was watching me.
I clutched the blankets tight, I turned to Lycan, he was fast asleep and I didn't want to wake him up.
I reach for the lamp on the bedside table, my heart beat was racing... The fear that something would grab my hand as I stretched it almost took over but I persevered, I closed my eyes and I turned the lamp on.
There was nothing there and the room was completely empty. I held my chest and fell backwards on my pillow.
I tried climbing off the bed, my legs touched the floor and I threw the blanket off my body. I felt his hands before I heard his deep voice.
"Kaya." Lycan's voice immediately startle me and I turn to see him staring straight at me, his hands were holding my wrist tightly.
"You were supposed to be asleep." I said to him.
"Is something wrong?." He asked me searching my face for an answer, a reaction.
"No, everything is alright." I told him, "why don't you go back to sleep." I nudged.
He sat up from the bed.
"You were leaving..." He said to me almost accusingly, as if he had caught me in a terrible and unholy act.
"How long have you been watching me?." I asked him.
"You know the last time you left me was while I was asleep... I woke up and I couldn't find you, I wouldn't let that happen again." He told me without answering my question.
The atmosphere held deep emotions, I tried to clear the air by laughing.
" I just thought I saw something there... And I couldn't go back to sleep so I thought I'd do some thinking." I told him.
He looked at the wall I pointed and then I thought I saw him sniff but then I just concluded that sleep was catching up to me and messing with my mental processing.
He stared at the spot for a very long time before turning to me with a grin on his face.
" A Penny for your thoughts. " he said.
I shook my head, they weren't thoughts that I wanted to discuss with him. I feared that he would do something stupid and grand like hiring me to be his personal assistant and pay me four hundred thousand dollars a week. I really wanted to find a job all on my own.
"It's nothing. " I tell him
" Kaya." He said my name in a way that I couldn't disobey him.
" I'm thinking of getting a job you know a real job. I practically had to plead with my parents to let me work in a convenience store." I said staring at the empty space.
"I can help you with that... " He started saying.
"Can I do this by myself, please?." I asked him cutting him off.
" Anything you say your majesty. All by yourself." He said tracing the outline of my face with his finger. " What about your parents, should we talk about them?." He asked me.
The ordinary thought of them brought me too much pain.
" I'd rather go to sleep." I told him.
"Some day we'd have to talk about them Kaya and you'd have to introduce me to them." He told me.
I scoffed.
With the amount that Lycan is worth, I'm sure that my parents would kidnap me and make him pay a ransom on my head. I closed my eyes and eventually, I forced myself to sleep.

LYCAN'S POV
Immediately I knew that Kaya had fallen asleep, I gently climbed off the bed.
I walked to the door and I opened it. Although the hallway looked empty, I could smell the blood moon pack all over it.
I turned the lights on and my eyes fell on the broken pile of glass from a vase that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, not that i liked the vase anyway.
The blood moon pack have been causing trouble over the years. Their leader was a deranged Alpha, Alaric who loved to dominate and conquer Alphas of other packs and then claim their members who would eventually become his slave. He would sometimes take the alpha's mates and make them his mistress, they couldn't resist it, the defeat of their alpha took away their rights to choose.
He had tried so many times to get to me and I have defeated him with ease countlessly, I wondered what gave him the morale to send his pack members to spy on me... They came as close as breaking into my house.
I don't intend to brush the incident off because I have a mate to protect. Even the slightest misbehavior from any opposition packs would cause them blood.
I walked to bedroom and I put on a robe. As I walked out of the bedroom door to go to Kaya's bedroom, I smelled a member of the blood moon pack.
I thought he had left but I was wrong, he wasn't far away. He came out from the shadows and suddenly he changed form, he was a silver fur werewolf, glinting in the darkness.
He didn't roar, he was silent, he ran towards me to attack me. I grabbed his fur by the neck and I smashed his head to the floor, there was a loud noise, I didn't want to wake Kaya up at all because I didn't know how she would take the news, she might leave me again, this time for good..
He was very big, but even in my human form I could take him down. I pulled him to my balcony and I threw him off, he landed on four legs.
I climbed the rails and I jumped down. He moved backwards.
"You're a Lycan aren't you, I never knew that Lycans backed away from fights." I said certain that he would take the bait.
He howled and immediately two more werewolves emerged from the darkness. They must have smelt my mate and they came here, in search for ways to penetrate through me, they found my weak spot.
I would die before I let them get the idea of having Kaya.
The three of them attacked at the same time. With my fists, I punched two and I heard their skulls crack, the last one was the Lycan, he had scratched my back and I was bleeding.
I finished the two of his pack members, he watched me open their mouths and with my bare hands I ripped them open, he was in pain. He started to retreat.
I wouldn't let him get away, next time his leader would think twice before sending his army to attack me. I caught him and I broke his primary bones. By the time I was done he was as red as wine.
The night was dead, the moon was full. I looked down at the torn flesh, the fur and bones, my blood stained hands and I wondered if I could be able to live a double life, how would Kaya take all of this... Should I just keep it a secret but for how long before the truth finally rears it's ugly head?.
