Chereads / A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods / Chapter 45 - Troy's Anger

Chapter 45 - Troy's Anger

Busy with his job, Troy continues to work without a break. He is doing most of the hard jobs that his workmates can't properly do and directs the newbies on how it will be done. Many people tend to be respectful of Troy for he is handling all of the job with ease and comfort, and that it is something that he is fast and efficient in his work. It wasn't a wonder now that he was being promoted to the Chief of the company and the pillar to keep the company from growing and functioning.

After a hard day's work, Troy sighed in relief that his work was done so quickly. He has a spare afternoon and that is a perfect thing. Now that he has a free afternoon slot, he can visit his sister's farm and ask for her health and the babies' health as well. Even though his sister is pregnant with twins, he is excited for his upcoming niece or nephews in the future. After all, it has been so long since they had children in the family. With both Selena and Elaina being adults now, he missed the time when both of them were still kids and were still pretty sweet talking to him. Now, it is different and although Elaina has not changed much, compared to when she was still a kid, he can't just treat her like one.

Not only the visit to his sister is he more excited to go, but he is also looking forward to visiting the clinic as well. After meeting Fey, he is smitten with her despite the haggard-looking face she shows. For some reason, Troy's heart seems to have been captured by Fey and he is very much willing to pursue Fey for this.

He is about to head home and prepare when all of a sudden, two people appear right before him, suddenly ruining his happy thoughts and wonderful afternoon. The one who appeared before him was none other than his Mother and Father.

"Ugh...what are you two doing here? Here to nag again?" Troy throws an annoyed expression at both his parents.

"Disrespectful as always but we will not be reprimanding you on that, young man," despite the anger in his father's voice, he didn't lash out and grab his collar of Troy.

"Hear us out first, Troy. I am already quite sure that you already knew about the disappearance of your sister, Elaina, correct?" His mother approached Troy, trying to scrutinize Troy.

"..." Troy didn't say anything and just glared at both of them. He didn't even want to answer them at all.

"I will take that silence of yours as a yes then. Now then, have you gotten any clues for your Sister? If anyone who has gotten them, it must be you."

"No. As far as I know, and all of the information I managed to gather, Elaina has covered most of her tracks pretty much carefully. Even if you managed to get one clue, you will just then be circling back to the beginning and you will be thrown in a loop leading you to another worthless investigation," Troy sighed and shrugged.

"..." Victor looked at him, scrutinizing every single detail of his face whether he was lying or not.

"What? Do you think I am lying? Ha, if you think I was lying, I shouldn't even be here anymore and has gone straight to where she is. Why do you think I am still searching for her?!" Troy angrily glared back at his Father.

"So even you have no idea where she is either?" Maria asked one more time.

"Ha, even if you ask me how many times, my answer will be the same. I don't have a single idea. You should go and ask her husband. Compared to me who is still busy with my work and can barely do any investigations, that man has more credibility, manpower, and capability to find Elaina much faster. Don't rely on me to find Elaina."

"You mean, her husband? Bah! The Emperor might have all the power of this kingdom, but that power is worthless if he doesn't even know how to find his wife who disappeared. Therefore, you will instead find your sister and prove to us that you can do it," Victor is clearly mocking Alfred but it seems he is not even afraid to mock him with contempt.

"Ha, f*ck that. I am not your puppet. You two might be my parents but I am by no means your servant that you can just ask for things. And I think it is better for Elaina to be out of touch with you two. She would have a better peace of mind without the two of you interfering with everything she does."

Before Troy could move, a punch knocked him down to the ground. His nose is bleeding after receiving a punch that hit square to his face that came from his father.

"Ungrateful bastard. Just because she has gone out of our sight doesn't mean that she will be gone forever. She cannot hide forever. And if we have to drag her down back to the castle, we will do whatever it takes to do so. And if we knew that you actually knew where she is currently and you are hiding it from us, then you will receive punishment from us," Victor threatened Troy, the latter gritting his teeth in anger after hearing the threat. However, despite his anger, he cannot retaliate.

"We will come again to ask you once again for her location if you find her. If you found her in advance, come back to the mansion and tell us immediately," Maria spreads her fan before she starts walking away followed by Victor who is still glaring at Troy menacingly.

Troy couldn't do anything against his parents. However, now that his parents are eyeing him as well, his actions are totally limited.

"I guess I should avoid going to my sister for now. Surely, they are going to send me some surveillance soon enough. Best to be safe than sorry," Troy muttered to himself before he stood back up, wiping off the blood on his nose.

This is the least he can do for his sister. At least, even if they managed to track Elaina down, he should find a way to sabotage the investigation and try to mislead his parents to further know the truth and location of Elaina.

"As if I would aid you in helping find Elaina," Troy spits the blood from his mouth before deciding to go home. For now, his trip should be delayed for quite some time until all the rumors have died down and the surveillance have lessened for quite a bit.
