Chapter 31 - Is it Classified as a Chicken?

"Am I seeing this correctly?" Julia rubbed her eyes a few times and squinted it to see that the monster Hencluckle had become a docile chicken now.

Even Elaina couldn't believe it as well. After all, whenever a Hencluckle sees a human, it will immediately go hostile and call for a backup or even start attacking if it is very dangerous. So seeing one that is docile and relatively tame, they couldn't help but think this was not real.

Elaina started to approach the Hencluckle with uncertainty at first. She slowly approached it to see its reaction. At first, it looked at her with a curious look in its eyes. As soon as she got close enough, she held the Hencluckle in her arms, and to her surprise, the Hencluckle didn't even struggle, and just acted like it was surprised by Elaina's action.

"Wah..." Julia's reaction is something that even Elaina can say to be understandable.

Then, the goddess of taming decided to talk once more.

"[That's how the taming process works, dear Elaina. See how docile and tame it was compared to earlier? It is now one of your chickens and will now act like a normal chicken. Of course, feeding them with feed is still good. Just make sure that these monsters eat something that they eat, otherwise, they will also get sick and die.]"

"So in short, this is still the same as the real animals. Got it."

Elaina put down the Hencluckle back to its roost and just like before, the Hencluckle returned to its resting position.

"We will be able to get eggs from it starting tomorrow. We can feed it with some grains for now since it is an omnivore. We should take advantage of it that we have a chicken that we got for free," Elaina explained to Julia.

"So even if it is a monster, it will still be like a real chicken. Just a different one? And are you sure, Sis? This is still technically a monster. What if it suddenly becomes hostile again?" Julia asked.

"Then you already know what we will do. And we can handle them just fine, yes?"

Julia nodded and finally got convinced. The more money they can save, and the more practical things are, the better.

"Alright. Let's deal with these carcasses fast before the sun sets."

The next day, Elaina felt worse once more with her Morning Sickness. It's a normal thing to happen to pregnant women but she wanted the feeling to at least disappear soon, or perhaps stop it. Perhaps a visit to the local doctor would be best for her.

Thankfully, after a few minutes of enduring it, the feeling disappeared. She also didn't have to wake Julia up very early which is a good thing.

Elaina started preparing for her morning duties as a farmer. Now that she has some livestock to feed in the morning, working early in the morning is essential.

When she was done with her preparations, she checked the profit they received after shipping a few vegetables and the monster parts they had dismantled that they had no use or any kind of ways to properly make something. The profit they gained is 5,000 gold which is not bad considering that they didn't ship that many things.

Still, they are now slowly regaining the money they used to build the chicken coop. Soon enough, they will have enough money to buy other things and build other stuff like a bigger house or maybe expand the land that she owns.

"Pft...stop thinking too far ahead, Elaina. It would be best if you focused on what was currently happening first instead," Elaina lightly tapped her head first to control her desires.

After safekeeping the money, Elaina grabbed her tools and got ready to do the work. As she was about to head out, she suddenly heard a noise that was similar to a rooster crowing, the only difference is that this crowing style is a lot more high-pitched. It was also quite distinct from a normal rooster as well. And because there are no chickens on the farm, there is only one possible answer on what creature was crowing.

Elaina didn't tend to the plants first and instead headed straight to the chicken coop. Entering the coop revealed the Hencluckle currently preparing to crow again. However, it stopped when it saw Elaina like it suddenly swallowed the whole thing it was about to say and looked at her nervously.

She couldn't help but chuckle at the look at the Hencluckle for doing it but now that she knows it acts like a chicken so much, it is more likely she will see this monster as a chicken than a literal chicken.

"Is it even classified as a chicken though? What would the guild say if they found out about this?" Elaina pondered a bit about it but soon her gaze landed on one of the eggs currently inside one of the little egg containers that Jacob added. According to him, if a magic stone was operating the coop to clean, even the eggs would be organized and collected inside the special container, stopping the eggs from getting destroyed or broken before it was collected.

So seeing an egg inside it made Elaina ecstatic. She opened the container and looked at the Hencluckle who also stared at her with a puzzled face. It was like it didn't seem to mind that the egg was taken from the container.

"[Don't worry about it, Elaina. Aside from the time Hencluckles mate with a partner, Hencluckles don't care about their eggs so you will be safe to take it with you.]" the goddess of taming explained to her.

"So, I am safe to take this egg?"

"[Yes. Feel free to cook it, sell it, or whatever you want to do.]"

Hearing that, Elaina took the egg and looked at the Hencluckle. Seeing that it didn't give her any hostile look or reaction, it seems it is indeed not going to care about her eggs unless they are going to mate.

As for what Elaina is about to do to the egg, she has to do something to pay tribute to someone who helped her gain harvest and increase the quality of the crops.

Without hesitation, Elaina headed to the stream and dropped the egg into the water. Before the egg touches the water or splashes water, a bright light appears from the water, bursting out before revealing the one who took the egg.

"OOOOHHHHHH! AN EGG! AND IT IS AN OFFERING AS WELL! ITS NOT JUST A RANDOM LUCKY DROP! WOOHOOOOO!"

Although Elaina was shocked at the behavior of the Harvest Goddess who popped out, she was happy that the goddess seemed to like the egg so much that she started dancing around.

"You sure that this egg is an offering really, really? Really, really sure about it?" her eyes sparkled as she asked Elaina.

"H-huh? Yeah. That was an offering for now and a tribute of gratitude for the fertilizer you gave me last time. Thanks to it, the vegetable harvest is very good and it was also quite a high-quality harvest as well. Thanks to you, the harvest is bountiful. Though I apologize for the small offering for now, in the future, I will make sure to increase the offering."

The eyes of the Harvest Goddess sparkled as she heard this and started dancing in joy.

"Woweee! A very generous farmer living and giving me tributes is something I really like! Keep the tributes coming, farmer! And I will make sure you will gain plentiful harvests!"

Then, a green parrot suddenly started speaking, causing the Harvest Goddess to get startled.

"Hey. Don't get too carried away. Just because the farmer is giving you a tribute doesn't mean she is obliged to do it for you. You should control your greed for a bit and keep it. You look ridiculous. Thankfully, you don't care about money but if you do, I would have bonked you to oblivion. Also, you shouldn't slack on your work. I will be watching your work diligently so if you are slacking or doing a bad job, anything that the farmer will offer to you will be automatically confiscated, understood?!"

"HEEE! Y-YES BOSS! Don't worry boss! I will do my best, boss!"

And with a nod, the green parrot flies away, disappearing into the sky, leaving both of us.

"I-I am sorry. I just got too overwhelmed. You see, it's been so long that I have received a tribute even like this so I developed a behavior of greediness, see. Which is why I am like this. It will take me some time, but please bear with it, okay? Anyways, the boss will totally scold me so much if I don't do my job right so thanks to your effort, I will accelerate the growth of your crops in the span of a week in just a day. That way, you can harvest them faster. I can't do it every time but please ask me next time if you want me to grant some blessings! Anyways, thanks for the tribute! Until then!"

And with that, she returned to the stream and everything returned to normal. As for Elaina, she was not expecting that she would receive another blessing of accelerating the growth rate of her crops to a week in just a span of one day. That is something else. This also means, the radishes she planted the very first day will soon bear fruit soon enough.

With a smile on her face, Elaina happily carry her tools.

"Alright then! Time to get some work done!"
